To think you shouldn't turn down the page corners of a library book?

Yes I know. Minor problem and all that.

DS age 8 is doing it. I told him to use a bookmark. DH tells me I'm being ridiculous.

Opinions please!

YANBU. It's not your book.

VivaLeBeaver · 13/05/2013 20:38

Mmmm, I do it all the time. Never really thought about it before.

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2013 20:39

Naughty Viva

AmberLeaf · 13/05/2013 20:40

I'd do it.

Too many instances of dropping a book and the bookmark falling out!

I like well thumbed books and that includes turned corners.

Binkyridesagain · 13/05/2013 20:40

You never turn the corners on a book, never never never

Forgetfulmog · 13/05/2013 20:40

I do too viva! Oh well shoot me now Wink

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2013 20:40

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2013 20:41

I bet you are all writing in the margins too. Angry

dashoflime · 13/05/2013 20:42

I do that! I know I shouldn't though Blush

numbum · 13/05/2013 20:43

I fold the corners Blush But I love it when I go to fold a page and it's already been folded by someone else I'm a bit odd like that

Binkyridesagain · 13/05/2013 20:43

OMG Shock

Writing in the margins Shock

I can't deal with this I'm going to hide this thread and then stroke my books, they're getting twitchy.

numbum · 13/05/2013 20:44

TBH OP I'd just be glad my 8 year old was reading

glares at 8 year old DS who refuses to read anything that doesn't involve a world record or a car

Forgetfulmog · 13/05/2013 20:44

Binky Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 13/05/2013 20:45

I do worse with the library books. Blush

Our library is self service and I never have my card with me so just take books without booking them out! I do take them back though.

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2013 20:45

The alarm would go off at ours Viva, Grin

ShadowStorm · 13/05/2013 20:46

YANBU.

I think that no-one should ever turn down corners on a book. Poor vandalised book.

Also, re bookmarks falling out, you can get magnetic ones that sort of clip over pages. They don't fall out easily.

ChunkyChicken · 13/05/2013 20:48

YANBU.

Thankfully DH & I agree when it comes to treatment of books, so we would NEVER let either DC do this. You could say we're on the same page...

I'll get my coat.

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2013 20:48

I don't fold corners down on my own books.

TwasBrillig · 13/05/2013 20:48

I fold corners in library books. Makes sense really.

Wouldn't write in a library book but did in all my books when studying. I used to love borrowing my tutors books and seeing key points underlined and his collection of symbols at the side. I definitely study better if I can anotate!

Binkyridesagain · 13/05/2013 20:49

I don't even break the spines.

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2013 20:50

Why does it make sense though? Confused

GingerPCatt · 13/05/2013 20:51

After spending hours un-turning corners and rubbing out pencil marks, as a librarian I beg you not to do thus to library books. There is also a special level in hell where demon tear bit of flesh of people who tear pages out if library books.

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2013 20:52

'tear pages out'

Exogenesis · 13/05/2013 20:53

Ginger I feel the same.
