I'm so fucking cross I could scream
DDs brand new Isla bike which she's waited ages for us to find the money to buy has just been stolen.
Locked up outside the library.
5pm.
DP was there at 4.55 getting on his bike to go home.
When DD and I got there at 5.05, it was gone.
Some fucking low life thieving bastard now has it.
I fucking hate thieves. Really would like to fucking pummel the bastard's face in. He's probably really pleased with his day's work.
And my daughter is distraught.
Fucking animal.
AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH

sorry, need to let it out

Having a good bike that is properly designed makes a massive difference for a child, particularly re the weight of thd bike.

Post on FB for sure. My friend's DS' bike was stolen outside a station. It was spotted by someone who noticed my friend on FB. They now have the bike back- it had gone from London to Brighton in days, but they got it back. Millions of people use FB and Twitter, and other cycling forums etc;

I know West Bridgford very well and am really surprised to be honest, it's usually a very nice low-crime area.

Sorry to hear about your daughters bike, hope karma bites the thieving scumbag in the arse.

YANBU. I wanted to find the bastards who did over my house and skewer them with pitchforks.

Never did find them, nor recover any of the stuff - particularly galling as some of it was family jewellery, not worth much in financial terms but definitely a lot of sentimental value - it was years ago though, well before the age of ebay and common internet usage. Police didn't hold out much hope but suggested we try local carboot sales, pawn shops, classified ads etc. So all of those may be worth a look as well as ebay, gumtree, local

Soooooo sorry op . My heart goes out to you

exact same thing happened to us .

And guess what ...it was an Isla bike too :-(

Report
Thumbwitch · 28/04/2013 14:43

Do get onto ebay quickly, if you haven't already - even if you don't find the stolen bike, you might be able to get a replacement more cheaply, and then if you do find the original, sell the replacement.

5madthings · 28/04/2013 14:49

Op am guessing from other posts you are nr west bridgeford? According to google that is an hour away from dudley? So entirely possible.

What isla bike was it? Frame size etc?

Report
PatPig · 28/04/2013 14:52

That Dudley bike is not £399 I don't think. Cheaper than that.

Report
PatPig · 28/04/2013 14:53

I'm guessing op has a Beinn 24. Might be wrong though

Tailtwister · 28/04/2013 14:56

I don't see why the quality of the bike is of any relevance LM. Islabikes are great bikes, easy to ride and built for children. They saved hard to buy it for her and as for their insurance, an excess of £350 is relatively standard. The fact remains that some low life decided they were going to steal something from a child. I don't see how their despicable behaviour is the fault of the OP.

Report
Shylepite · 28/04/2013 14:59

LadyM the op already said it is insured and it had a padlock on so keep your judgments to yourself ffs!

I hope you manage to track it down op, Angry on your behalf!

That one i linked to on ebay goes from £300 new.

We need to know the frame size and style the op bought.

I do think its crap.some have berated the op for buying a good bike, it was locked up with two locks which were cut off. But yeah blame the victim for daring to buy something nice for her dd...fgs its the thieving scum that nicked it who is the one to blame.

overmydeadbody · 28/04/2013 15:02

OH that is terrible Rowley!

As for people attacking the OP choice of bike for her child, that is out od order.

I wouldn't buy DS a bike that was cheap and crap. It makes a huge difference how good a bike is, especially if you use it a lot.

The kryptonite mini D-locks are the best, for everone else out there who doesn't want a bike stolen, they are well worth the £50-£75 price tag.

I hope you find the bike Rowley.

Report
minouminou · 28/04/2013 15:04

"...buy a skateboard, HTH."

Nasty. Are you not in your happy place, LM?

It's possible it was stolen to order....if you're lucky, the restaurant CCTV might show a van and its plates. In my city, there are loads of bikes, and you get 'professional' teams going round nicking them.

Hope you get it back, or at least have a hand in catching the scrotes who think stealing from children is a decent career option.
