I'm so fucking cross I could scream
DDs brand new Isla bike which she's waited ages for us to find the money to buy has just been stolen.
Locked up outside the library.
5pm.
DP was there at 4.55 getting on his bike to go home.
When DD and I got there at 5.05, it was gone.
Some fucking low life thieving bastard now has it.
I fucking hate thieves. Really would like to fucking pummel the bastard's face in. He's probably really pleased with his day's work.
And my daughter is distraught.
Fucking animal.
AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH

sorry, need to let it out

Yes, check with local shops in case they have CCTV footage too.

Rowlers · 27/04/2013 19:30

DD so upset she's barely eaten her tea.
I have no appetite.

Both !

Not that I'm a particular fan of the press , but sometimes they can be useful . Someone somewhere will know where that bike is, and if it gets described exactly someone might recognise it . That and getting them to check their classifieds when they come in cant hurt can it ?

Rowlers · 27/04/2013 19:33

Talked to police about fingerprints.
They said they don't ever get anything off bikes.

That's awful, I feel for you. My son's brand new bike was run over a few weeks ago on his paper round ( the driver just wasn't looking where he was going). We have had to fork out for a new one as it was going to cost the same as repairing the other . The man keeps saying he will drop round some money, but not sure whether it will happen.

That's awful Rowlers. Your poor DD.

I was actually in a bike shop a couple of days ago, looking for a lock for DS's Islabike. I was sick of carrying it around with me at the play park and thought getting a lock would be easier. Most of the locks seemed to be remarkably easy to cut through though. Anything of any use was huge and weighed a ton.

I don't have any advice other that what's already been given, but I hope you either get it back or catch the sod (or both).

Rowlers · 27/04/2013 19:50

Think we'll never see that bike again.
No offence to any police on here but really don't think they will do much at all.
Bike's brand new - how will they sell it without it being obvious it's stolen? Anyone who bought it on ebay etc will see it's one day old.

Our insurance covers our bikes away from.the house but it was an extra we have to pay for on the insurance policy.

Do keep an eye on ebay, gumtree and freeads etc and report to police if you see it being sold.

chrome100 · 27/04/2013 19:58

Kryponite mini D locks are the best. You need an angle grider to get them off. They are heavy but small so not too bad to carry around.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 27/04/2013 20:15

DS1 had an Islabike, just passed to Ds2.

They are beautiful bikes, don't come cheap but they are really well made.

I would be utterly distraught if ours got stolen, it's such a sense of entitlement, it's disgusting!

Your poor ddSad

Rowlers · 27/04/2013 20:18

Got one but it was on DP's bike - he was going to put it on DD's but I didn't have a key for it. Sad

Put details and place stolen on Twitter. Great place for people playing detective.

Rowlers · 27/04/2013 20:19

I should be trying to settle her mind and brush over it but I'm struggling. I find it really hard to get over these things!!!

£400

Rowlers · 27/04/2013 20:20

Don't know much about twitter - how do I do that? Wish I were more savvy!

OP posts:
Punkatheart · 27/04/2013 20:27

I have just put out a plea for you - just write the place/time - type of bike. 10 million people on Twitter in the UK alone.

lljkk · 27/04/2013 20:28

Only way to get best price is on Ebay, it will have to come up there.
Document everything you can about it.
So sorry to read this. :(

catgirl1976 · 27/04/2013 20:38

That's awful :(

I'm so sorry Thanks

EssieW · 27/04/2013 20:56

Definitely keep an eye on ebay/ bike forums etc. A new (or any islabike) is going to stick out. Post on a serious cycling forum to say it's missing - people who know bikes will recognise one of these if they see it around (and might have seen it today). Bike forums might also know if there are places where stolen bikes are sold locally

I so feel for you. DS is getting a new islabike tomorrow and I would be gutted if someone nicked it.

Rowlers · 27/04/2013 21:02

Thank you so much Punk, that is so kind of you.
DP seems to think it'll be someone who's not bothered about getting the best price, just enough to buy some drugs!!
Going to have a look at twitter ...

MammaTJ · 27/04/2013 21:03

What an absolute cunt!! I never use that word but it is apt on this occasion.

Karma is a wonderful thing though, I truly believe that what goes around comes around!!

Rowlers · 27/04/2013 21:06

Twitter seems complicated to set up?

OP posts:
TonkaToy · 27/04/2013 21:07

Ah Isla bikes are fantastic bikes too, so sorry for you and your poor dd Sad, scumbbag bastards!

hermioneweasley · 27/04/2013 21:08

Poor you and poor DD. some people are scum.

Punkatheart · 27/04/2013 21:11

Twitter is very easy. Chose a name and away you go - or just ask a friend to do it for you. Someone has already retweeted my post and it will spread....
