For instance:
A) Are George and Richard Rabbit G&T? They've just set up Dinosaur World in George and Peppa's bedroom, with an upturned laundry basket as a volcano, a forest of toy trees and a river made of blue building blocks. They're not like any 18 month old I've ever seen!

B) Do you have no choice but to marry the only available instance of the other gender of your species in existence? How did Mrs Rabbit and Miss Rabbit decide who got to marry Mr Rabbit?

C) Why did Daddy and Mummy Pig call George George when it so definitely doesn't start with P? Did she not get shot down on a Baby Names thread for that one?

WingDefence, that's brilliant! DD and I sing the sea the sky the sea song, but not as tunefully...

Suzieismyname, doesn't he transmute the numbers? DH is an accountant and we say to DD that that's what he does at work... (he also has a big tummy and likes to watch tv on the sofa, and feels Daddy Pig is unfairly picked on by his family for these traits:))

I think my all time fave episode is the one where Miss Rabbit gets stuck in the mud following Grandpa Pig ("Come on bus, we can do it!") and Grandad Dog tries to drag her out, but only succeeds in covering her bus with mud. She turns the wipers on and clears a tiny hole in the screen. "Did it work?" Comedy gold.

Has anyone been to Peppa Pig world near Southampton? Is it as surreal as the show?

ShiverMeWhiskers · 24/04/2013 23:10

DH was soooo pleased when we finally deleted all billions of episodes of peppa pig from our Sky box, but I do miss it a bit now DS is 5. We did used to overly think the whole PP world though as it is all total madness! Probably the fav episode is when mummy pig falls in the fruit bush and peppa says you'll have to stay there for a 100 years! But I do love when peppa imagines she is queen and says to daddy pig, what do you do and he replies, I'm your daddy, just madness!
Or when they dye daddy pigs football shirt pink, or when peppa interrupts the bedtime story everyone is trying to tell her to make her go to sleep, or..... Actually, I have just watched too much peppa in my life..... Oh dear!

Bobyan · 24/04/2013 23:12

I nearly had a Peppa Pig induced nervous breakdown in Peppa Pig World. They play the theme tune continuously, over and over again. With no break. You can't even take a pee without hearing pigs merrily oinking.

Lovecat · 24/04/2013 23:26

Oh Lord, Bobyan. Earplugs a must, then...

CautionaryWhale · 25/04/2013 01:49

Favourite scene

We should all exercise and eat fruit and vegetables
Which ones should we eat Mr Potato?
Apples, oranges, carrots, tomatoes...
Potatoes?
Erm...
Why aren't you small like a normal potato?
Erm...

Grin

Favourite episode

George crying on the swings and slide i am obviously heartless
Daddy pig aka my husband tis the stubble glasses and belly getting stuck on said slide

Daddy Pig also reminds me physically of the late great Richard Griffiths

Questions on Peppa Pig 101

  1. Why is Miss Rabbit's voice so bloody screechy?
  2. Why did Mummy Rabbit allow random kids to choose the twins' names instead of producing a names thread on Mumspet/Netbun(nie)s?
  3. Why has Clever Clogs Edmond not got roundly beaten up yet?
  4. Why has Grampy Rabbit not said very loudly indeed 'By My Beard' ?!
  5. Why did Peppa get chicken pox but not swine flu?
  6. Why does Alexander Armstrong not have Danny Dog on his cv?
  7. How many of Pedro's family have we recently eaten?
  8. Just what kind of fun with vegetables is to be had in Potato City?

Would love to take kids to Peppa Pig World ....but thank you for the warning Bobyan - Peppa Pig on a loop would drive me demented too - tis bad enough when I leave the dvd menu on. Assuming if I do that for six hours and create a muddy puddle in my lounge then I've recreated the authentic experience Wink

Whowouldfardelsbear · 25/04/2013 01:53

Anyone remember Birdy Birdy Woof Woof song? The record that they find when clearing out grandpa pig's attic. The one mummy pig used to play all the time when she was a girl. It goes something like:

The birds go woof
The dogs go tweet
Woof tweet wood tweet

The cows go baa
The sheep go moo
Moo baa moo baa

Etc etc. DH had a clip of that downloaded on his phone for DD. we were on the train once and a trio of teenagers came on and started blaring music from their phone. DH played Birdy Birdy Woof Woof on his phone nice and loud until they got the message.

Whowouldfardelsbear · 25/04/2013 01:55

And favorite episode is definitely Mummy Pig winning all the giant teddy bears at the fair after being told she wouldn't be capable as she is a woman .

Katnisscupcake · 25/04/2013 07:31

Loving this thread...

We're off to Peppa Pig World for the second time for DD's 4th birthday in June. Went last September and DD loved it.

In reality, DH and I really enjoyed it aswell. It was soooo clean and bright, brilliant for LOs. I think this will be DD's last year as a PP fan so we're going to make the most of it.

At the moment we've got the International Day DVD on while I mumsnet work before taking DD to pre-school.

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/04/2013 09:49

Ooh I want the Birdy Birdy Woof Woof song as my ringtone now.

Mybabysmellsofbiscuits · 25/04/2013 10:11

Bobyan that is brilliant!!

Always annoys me that there are no lone parents... Every family has a mummy and a daddy...

makemineabacardi · 25/04/2013 10:24

I know someone who won't let her DS watch Peppa Pig EVER because the pigs are pink. And pink is not for boys...true story. Hmm

Funny on this thread you can tell who the amateurs and professionals are. And by 'professionals' I mean those of us who have been subject to saturation levels of Peppa Pig for what feels like a lifetime.

So just to set the record straight:

  • There is ONE Miss Rabbit who has lots of jobs, and is probably on speed.
  • Daddy Pig is an architect.

How Peppa Pig has affected my kids:

  1. They think Broadway Tower actually is Windy Castle.
  2. My 4 yo DD thinks she is old enough to have a sleepover / ride her bike to her friends' houses on her own. Thanks a lot, Peppa.
  3. They think our dentist is Dr Elephant. I had to explain this to him. Thankfully his name actually is Dr E... with three syllables so he went along with it. Though was a bit taken aback when the kids yelled 'pink! pink!' and he only had green liquid to hand.
  4. Whenever we come to road works everyone in the car shouts 'They're digging up the road!'. They think they will see Mr Bull one day if they look hard enough.

I could go on...

fruitstick · 25/04/2013 11:02

Mrs Dog was a lone parent for a long time, until Mr Dog came back from being away at sea.

Like that's the truth! Clearly he had a mid-life crisis and shacked up with Mrs Fox's sister until she kicked him out for being a cocklodger.

Suzieismyname · 25/04/2013 11:44

I stand corrected, Lovecat. Daddy Pig takes big numbers, transmutes them and then calculates their load bearing tangents...

Whowould the best bit for me about that Mummy Pig at the fair episode is her eyes whenever she's told she won't be able to do something!

Roomfor1more · 25/04/2013 11:53

I'm loving this thread, cheered me up no end knowing there are other saddos parents who have to endure hours of the Pink Oink! I also watch Bean and Holly for jokes that go over the kids heads! Love Nanny Plum as someone else commented further up, I'd bet she's a right laugh out on a night out! That is if she was a REAL person and not an animated fairy Sad Blush

Roomfor1more · 25/04/2013 11:54

Sorry I meant BEN not Bean!

20wkbaby · 25/04/2013 12:24

Haven't read whole thread but had heard from an interview (sorry to be vague) that there are lots of Miss Rabbits and they all have different jobs - poss. something to do with breeding like rabbits so this is why there are so many.

Other questions raised on here are frankly baffling...

GingaNinja · 25/04/2013 12:52

Yep seen all these episodes, repeatedly. We have the DVDs but DD also insists we watch on the 'puter (youtube).

BTW, in Ireland there is a place called Tayto Park. Where Mr Tayto lives - presumably Mr Potato's Irish(?) cousin. There are even reviews of it on Trip Adviser. I've always wondered whether PP's creators have visited....

(Taytos are what the vast majority of people in Ireland call their crisps, even though there are other crisp brands.)

bedmonster · 25/04/2013 12:58

Well, My friend IS mr Bulls daughter! She worked for PP, and when she left, they designed the character of the daughter as my friends surname is Bull! I haven't seen her in any episodes though, so don't know if she is in use as a character. She also invited my DDs and I to PP Towers where we got to roam free in her 'cupboard' and to choose goodies. The cupboard was a massive stockroom and they came home laden down with clothes, costumes, towels, umbrellas, trainers and slippers, toys, so much stuff ,they had an amazing time! And the offices were immense, all the toys were on display and the meeting rooms had all the toy cars and trains etc on the desks.
My DDs have fond memories of that day!

Roomfor1more · 25/04/2013 13:14

GingaNinja ahhh I do love a bag of Taytos and a big bottle or red lemonade lol Wink

MrsHelsBels74 · 25/04/2013 13:22

Does anyone else think the animals look a bit sinister when they narrow their eyes?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows far too much about Peppa Pig.

MindFullMum · 25/04/2013 14:21

I thought there was a different Miss Rabbit for every job that needed filling - because of the abundance of rabbits

FannyPriceless · 25/04/2013 15:41

20wk and MindFullMum - Sorry but I have to correct you about the one v many Miss Rabbits question. There really is only one Miss Rabbit.

We have the book of Peppa meets the Queen (and everyone knows that books trump everything). Grin

This book states:

"The hardest working person in the country is ... Miss Rabbit!" accompanied by a double page spread of Miss Rabbit flying the helicopter, driving the fire engine, operating the recycling crane, running the library, driving the train, and closing up at the supermarket.

"I can't visit the Queen! I've got too much work to do!" Miss Rabbit panics.
"Don't worry!" Peppa says. "The Queen has made it a holiday!"

It really is ONE Miss Rabbit.

Perhaps it's something they were vague about then clarified at some point? (Like how they retrospectively altered series one to make everyone wear seatbelts and bike helmets after anxious viewers expressed concerns about road safety.)

Twit · 25/04/2013 17:06

Big balloon, big balloon
Bigger than the sun and moon
Flying high, in the sky
Fly, fly and fly and fly.

Peppa as a character really annoys me. I prefer Ben & holly although I m a bit Hmm with the whole 'elves love to work so they do all the work ' vibe. However I believe nanny plum and the wise old elf are at it like badgers.
