What a boring bloody world we would live in if everyone looked the same.

Tell you what, all women DO look the same. They've all got dyed hair.

Why's that, do you think?

There's something bigger going on here. It's not to do with self expression.

It's to do with self disgust.

YoothatJoist - there were a couple of rebels in my school...not many though to be honest. Didn't get good A-levels either actually, I dropped out Grin

LittleYellowBall - yes that's me.

OK, I need to stop adding pics now before people think I'm attention seeking...I've just added a massively pregnant with pink hair pic. Excuse the roots - the pics were taken on my due date.

I love loud hair. Half the women round here have their hair dyed black - and that's not a good look with sallow colouring, if you're a bit anaemic as well. It takes a certain kind of personality to carry it off, though. And I'm convinced that our villages power fluctuation problems would be solved if hair straighteners were banned.

I'm one of the 3 people who does suit burgundy hair - it has to be the right shade, though, and I prefer to call it plum. I'm fair skinned, dark blue eyed and my naturally very dark hair is about 1/3 grey and the plum looks like it actually belongs there and goes well with the deep pinks and purples I like to wear. I have a lot of red hair in my family, which probably helps. A lot of women who go for the colour are far too orange to carry it off, though.

Self disgust?? Really??

OK then...

hate hate hate that bog standard burgundy colour. it should be banned from shops, nothing remotely natural about it. Also very very blonde where the persons hair is breaking off at the bottom and doesn't ever get any longer because it is thoroughly knackered.

someone has asked if OP follows the crowd - I guess I follow what suits me and my skin colouring. have met very few people who 'suit' multi coloured over dyed knackered hair.

ScarlettLady02 what were you rebelling against? Being told not to dye your hair? Bit pointless isn't it? You should have saved your rebellion for your old age. That's when you'll need it. And lining the pockets of the companies who make pink hair dye won't smash the system, trust me.

Hair that is dyed jet black generally looks crap, especially when coupled with mucho fake tan.

I have had people say that natural hair colours don't look right on me haha! But I guess that's because I've had (various) bright coloured hair for around 8 or 9 years now so people are used to it.

ScarletLady02 · 23/04/2013 12:46

Did I say I was rebelling against anything? I don't think I did. I dyed my hair pink at 13 because I was going to a festival with my parents and wanted it pink. My Mum did it for me, so no rebellion there. The reason it was still pink when I went back to school was because it hadn't washed out yet. The reason I said about being a legend at my school was because it did become quite the story and I was joking about it.

My hair is not a statement of rebellion...I stated earlier I dye it etc because it makes me smile when I look in the mirror and that's about it really. A lot of the world is dreary and grey and my hair brightens me up.

Ok, I'm a dad so I might not count as the question was about mums, I'm a couple of years over the 25 mark and have long bright red hair. I did on the other hand loose the facial piercings years ago, although I am tempted to get my nose done again.

I can get away with it as I work in photo processing, on the other hand my partner who is 25 will be going vivid again soon as she has the oppertunity to do so while on maternity leave.

Our daughter loves the bright red hair, and let's face it, she is the most important person for us to please.

Oh I'm 25 btw so I don't know if that makes me too old or it or not...?

Yootha, why do you keep having a go at Scarlett?
This is simply a discussion about hair, trying to put a poster down like that because she likes to look different is sounding a bit mean spirited.

ouryve · 23/04/2013 12:48

I don't dye my hair to please anyone, btw. I celebrated the grey for years, but the balance is just wrong, at the moment and it looks neither dark with sparkly bits, nor white - it is just grey and brown. The colour I am at the moment (Schwartzkopf "Red Passion") makes me smile, when I see it.

I dont really care what people do with their hair but i do wonder why someone would want to smother their head in strong chemicals every month or so.
All that bleach and dye gives you shit hair. It goes brittle and breaks off which is never a good look no matter what colour it is.

It's ok LadyBeagleEyes, she's entitled to her opinion. She doesn't know me, or my reasons. She doesn't know why I take joy in the simplest of things at the moment because I don't like to go into personal shit on-line. If I couldn't handle people calling me out I wouldn't post.

But thanks for sticking up for me Smile

For what it's worth, my Dad is a musician/writer/hippy who had long hair for years and my Mum is a die-hard feminist/hippy with piercings...

If I was going to rebel I'd be wearing Boden right now Wink

How do women all look the same ? God knows how many different colours have been listed in this thread...then you have countless different hair styles, long, short, straight, curly....Then women come in different shapes and sizes, tall, short, fat, thin....

You seem to be getting very angry about something that is a personal choice....

what is the point in colouring hair hair colour?

For this reason I have never coloured my hair at all. I have the kind of job where bright colours wouldnt be allowed so cant see the point in colouring my hair boot polish brown.

My hair has been pretty much every colour of the rainbow over time - I got stuck on golden blonde a bit before DD came along & would love to go back to something more interesting - my 55 year old friend has just dip died hers in various shades of pink to follow her cut & it looks really fabulous on her, really classy

FrenchRuby but to get the bright reds, purples etc you need to bleach your natural colour out first.
Bleach is for cleaning toilets not to put on hair.
