AIBU what's with the whole 'nethuns' nonsense?

I'm quite happily a member of both forums, I get lots out of both, but it does REALLY rip my knitting when a few on MN call it net'huns'.

Dare I say I actually find it quite an offensive term, being from Glasgow the word 'hun' has very particular connotations in a sectarian form.

I know there is a fairly large cross over of users, so why with the hate people?

Another hands up to being poor, in social housing and I didn't go to university.
I still prefer MN though, as apart from a few nasties, most Mumsnetters are very accepting of everybody from whatever social background they come from.

olivertheoctopus · 23/04/2013 13:09

Ooooh judgey! I've never really got into Netmums so can't really compare and am new(ish) over here. What about Babycentre birth boards though? Now they are really are a way of making you want to slap the computer screen. Poss due to over population of PFB mums but still, we were all one of those once and I'm sure I was NEVER that stupid.

KatyTheCleaningLady · 23/04/2013 13:18

For sheer rubber necking amusement, nothing beats mothering.com.

Plenty of good placenta recipes there.

Sallystyle · 23/04/2013 13:23

I liked NM's for a while until they kept threatening to ban me. Stupidly, some would get away with loads of shit but I would get told off for saying that someone is ignorant on a certain topic.

You can't really debate there without someone crying bullying.

CelticPixie · 23/04/2013 14:29

Lol "Nethuns"

I don't like it either, its far too girls and glittery and pink for my liking. The tickers are awful and distracting and I hate all this referring to their kids as "Lil Man" and "Lil Princess" malarkey. They also have a fondness for text speak which I hate with a passion so I avoid it like the plague.

lljkk · 23/04/2013 16:18

I am shallow so I thought NetHuns was very witty.
They probably would like to call us TwatsNet but don't think they are allowed swearing the big babies.
I cannot find my way around NetHuns. [shame]

Greetings Citizen Scarlet Wink

Do you know..after reading Nazimums from the outside so to speak...I have realised I don't miss it one bit..and am actually glad I was banned.

HerrenaHarridan · 23/04/2013 17:09

What I love about this thread is realising how many of you are in Scotland too!

AmberLeaf · 23/04/2013 18:27

Whenever anyone on here admits to being on benefits or living in a council house they are careful to qualify it by pointing out that they went to uni or were brought up in a middle class home

Bollocks do they.

I live in a housing association home, didn't go to university and grew up in a working class home. Ive never felt the need to hide those credentials or explain my life on here.

I have found Netmums to be way more bigoted than Mumsnet, although you do get the odd bigot here, what I love about here, is that bigotry is on the whole challenged...unlike on Netmums.

middle class politics of Mumsnet

No such thing.

Not that boring old chestnut, that to have left leaning political views you must be a middle class, uni educated, latte sipping Islington dwelling yummy mummy.

Yawn.

ParadiseChick · 23/04/2013 18:48

So who is the person with the putting the n in cuts signature? They're one of the few sense talkers!

ScarletLady02 · 23/04/2013 19:08

I know who that is paradisechick, but I'll let her out herself.

To be fair, I much prefer it here and most of the people I like on there, I'm now friends with on facebook or something. It's funny, I've been a member of a few sites, bounty is another, all the good ones end up here!

ParadiseChick · 23/04/2013 19:10

Is she on mumsnet?

To be honest I do prefer it here, more straight talking, more balanced liberal leaning tendencies I relate to. More thinking encouraged if that makes sense.

AmberLeaf · 23/04/2013 19:16

Ooh hello ScarletLady! have just remembered you after clicking on your profile and seeing your pics!

crazynanna · 23/04/2013 19:20

GoSuckEggs · 23/04/2013 19:26

OnTheNingNangNong · 23/04/2013 19:33

I really did like the lady who had the 'putting the n in cuts' she was very funny, a sense talker amongst idiots.

crazynanna · 23/04/2013 19:48
scottishmummy · 23/04/2013 19:59

OnTheNingNangNong · 23/04/2013 20:21

Ooh Crazynanna is it you perchance? Wink

apostropheuse · 23/04/2013 20:33

Crazynanna I think putting the c in cuts was one of the few posters that didn't make me want to puke.

Truly.

crazynanna · 23/04/2013 20:53
Wink

Do you know, I had that signature ('N' in Cuts) since the general election in 2011, and just a couple of months ago, some Tory Bastard must've complained to the Mods, and they made me change it. At first I tried:

Tories...putting the in Cuts>
But the Mods were having none of it, so I had to change it to:

Tories...putting the in Cuts.

I loved that fucking signature the cunts Angry

apostropheuse · 23/04/2013 20:55

I'm a numpty I really did mean to say putting the N in cuts.

doh!

ScarletLady02 · 23/04/2013 21:02

See, you're famous crazynanna Grin

She really is a peach amongst the vast swathes of shit on there. But there's shit everywhere on-line. If I'm honest though NetMums is a shitter place without her...I might cry actually...

ScarletLady02 · 23/04/2013 21:03

I'm rather uncreative and have my own photo as my avatar over there.
