AIBU?
To ask (3 years too late) what happened in Lost again??

A bit of a diversion from the trillion MT threads (and possibly very dull, so I apologise in advance)
My brain meanders A LOT when I'm in the shower, and I found myself thinking while in there this morning - what actually happened in the TV series Lost? I followed it avidly (saddo) and all I can gather from it is that 'they all died' which is the answer that everyone seems to give but no one really knows when or how.
Now I imagine a lot of you will think 'who gives a shit' but hey I invested a lot of time in that bloody programme god knows why and would love a brief answer if anyone knows?
Apologies if ths makes me sound like a bellend loser with no life - am at home with my 6 month old all day :)

OP, This is weird, ive just been talking to my brother about the same thing, i woke up this morning thinking about matthew fox , thn started wondering what actually happened in lost, why was he in charge all the time and why in the end did they shout down that hole thing in the ground that had a stream coming out of it.
So where they all dead then, was it all about them realising they were dead, if it was im pretty sorry i wasted so much time on it?
*am also bellend loser sat at home with 9 months old all day, baby tv makes me daydream a LOT!

Well, I was going to answer 'they all died' but obviously that's not what you're looking for. There is no way in the world I could sum it up for you briefly because it's not possible to condense the whole thing (and I also got vair confused in places ).
Will be interested to see what other people come up with though.
Strangely, I was thinking about it myself the other day. Specifically, when Sun and Jin drowned. I remember being in tears when I watched that. And when Charlie sacrificed himself. Might have a quiet blub now...

I dont remember Sun and Jin drowning.. when did that happen?
I invested wasted 6 years or however long it was too and I'm still not sure what happened either - apart from I think that they all died when the plane crashed and then they spent 6 years explaining how your fate is already mapped out and you'll all meet up with your loved ones who you've met at some point in your life and all is well in the end.... or is that wrong?
And I was much more a Sawyer fan than Jack especially when he chopped bamboo etc with his shirt off

They all died in the crash but those with 'unresolved issues' ended up in the island which was purgatory. Then the ones that died later on (ie. Charlie, mr Ecco etc) were the ones who had sorted through said issues. Or something.
Charlie died trying to get help by telling Desmond's girlfriend Penny where they were.
I was very disappointed with the ending, I remember thinking "what, is that IT?!"
QueenCuntyChops · 10/04/2013 16:16
They did not all die in the crash.
The last series had flash forwards where they were off the island and That was when they were all dead, they had to meet up in a church and all bimble off to heaven together.
On the island was all real, they were all brought there because one of them had to be the new island leader, like god, I think.

they all died well were dead but some accepted it and some didnt so they waited and waited and BLOODY waited to resolve their issues, i howled at the end part sadness part frustration . hurley and benjamin were helping people to resolve their issues and Hurley became the new jacob to take people over to the other side where ever that may be, Benjamin didnt go with them because he still has ishoos,
I was a huge LOSTIE i adored it and became obsessed with it but was meh and a bit angry at the ending. I am still not sure what the whole John locke thing was about though

They didn't die in the plane crashed. They survived and everything that happened, happened.
However, the 'flash sideways' in the final series was them all being reunited in the afterlife. Lost played with time throughout all the seasons; flashbacks, forwards, parallel timelines, time travel etc. the last season was about the characters being outside of time, so, all the characters died because everybody dies eventually. Some died in the first season (Boon), some at the end (Jack in the final shot) and the others after the narrative ended but at the point of death they were outside of lionise time and therefore could be reunited 'at the same time' to 'move on'.
Does that make any sense?
