This may sound really odd but my left breast feels funny

It feels a bit swollen and, not exactly sore, but a bit uncomfortable.

My cousin died of breast cancer last year and a bit of me is niggly worried. I've had a good feel around and can't find anything lumpy but it feels wrong somehow and I am not 100% sure how to properly check my breasts (about to google it)

I feel a bit silly about it but it just doesnt feel right. AIBU to be a bit worried. Is it too silly a thing to see a GP about? I have doctors appointment this afternoon but that's about something else and I know they hate you mentioning more than 1 issue

I suppose I'm looking for some re-assurance really

catgirl1976 · 11/04/2013 17:28

Hello everyone!

Seen the consultant and he is pretty sure its just breast changes from breast feeding

Had a biopsy and a mammogram just be sure and should get the results tomorrow

And SO relieved. And strangely exhausted

Thank for you all so much for getting me through this. You've all made a huge difference to me Thanks

Have a lovely evening.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/04/2013 19:05

catgirl I'm so pleased that the consultant is positive. IME they tend to err on the side of caution and not getting hopes up.

catgirl1976 · 11/04/2013 19:35

Thank you both xx

I'm so glad I took Bings advice...just got my NHS appointment in the post for 11 days from now..so much for my GP saying using my BUPA cover wouldn't make difference

14 days is very good really and I do appreciate the NHS but I really appreciate the healthcare I get through work right now and am so glad I didn't have to go through a two week wait

I feel very, very lucky on both counts

I think I will do Race for Life this year

Glad all is well catgirl - my job is dealing with patients like yourself amongst many other things. I truly understand the anxiety in waiting and not knowing.

The NHS is absolutely wonderful - I am a malignant melanoma patient who is absolutely indebted to them. On the other hand, when you are in the fortunate position of having private medical insurance then it can be absolutely worth it to use it for a diagnosis and/or treatment if necessary.

Have lots of Wine and enjoy your evening!

Themobstersknife · 11/04/2013 20:12

Haven't commented before but just wanted to say I am so happy to hear that it all probably looks ok, and that you will know for sure very quickly. I had similar symptoms, but ended up waiting three months to get the all clear, due to a mixture of inconclusive tests and a bit if incompetence on the hospital's part. The waiting was dreadful.
Good luck for tomorrow.

catgirl1976 · 11/04/2013 20:33

Bing your advice has made a huge difference! :)

Themobster I am so sorry you had to wait so long for your results :( But so happy it was good news when it came

I rather wish I could buy every one of you a great big drink

Maybe one day at a meet up Grin
