Dont want to cause some big debate but is anyone else on here getting sick to the back teeth of having to watch their p's and q's through fear of offending every tom, dick and harry.

OP posts:

Everyone should just use whatever words they like - it makes it so much easier then to decide who is an ignorant twat.

Lottashakingoinon · 05/04/2013 11:41

Good on ya DD's daughter

You could've fooled me indicates disbelief imho.

Simontowers1 · 05/04/2013 11:42

The rank hypocrisy on this thread really is something to behold.

YouTheCat · 05/04/2013 11:42

You didn't criticise, you merely cast aspersions about her intelligence. Who's being patronising? I'd say it's you, Shrieking.

Simontowers1 · 05/04/2013 11:43

Exactly TSH. I wouldn't waste your breath however.

Pagwatch · 05/04/2013 11:44

Can I wholeheartedly agree with Tethers

The whole debate always descends into words being banned, people complaining that they can't speak freely, which is nonsense.

People can say broadly what they want but they have to deal with the fact that it will place them in a certain light.

Use retard if you want. I chose to use cunt and wankbadger. I am sure people think less of me sometimes but I have weighed up the consequences and I am content.
If you use retard, unless you are perhaps 80, you will line yourself up in my mind with the spitting wankers who shout that word at DSs bus. So I will form a view of you.
That is a minor thing of course but is the crux of this whine of a thread - 'isn't it unfair that I can't say what I think without people realising that I am a bit of an arse'

I saw no criticism will take another look though

Simontowers1 · 05/04/2013 11:46

Oh come on noddy, questioning TSH intelligence is stooping a bit low isn't it?

MadBraLady · 05/04/2013 11:46

People are actually dying in a ditch here to assert their right to not be thought an arsehole when they use offensive or excluding language about children with disabilities. It's just heartbreaking really.

sudaname · 05/04/2013 11:46

Simon l cant keep up with you but basically l was agreeing with your post @ 10:03 and my post @ 11:33 was in reply to yours @ 10:42.

Your probably six pages on now but hey-ho Grin

TheBigJessie · 05/04/2013 11:46

Simon

A young woman, who is also disabled, came on to explain why she found the word "retard" offensive, and mentioned that just because she is disabled doesn't mean she even fits the traditional medical definition of "retard" anyway. Harpy ignored most of her post, and directed her attention on doubting the woman's intelligence, presumably to make herself better about her passionate love of the word "retard".

I see no hypocrisy here.

Fenton · 05/04/2013 11:47

Someone's got a big stiry spoon on here.

noddyholder · 05/04/2013 11:48

I have to stoop to reach her Simontower1

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 05/04/2013 11:49

Harpy, your C&P was from my post.

So, actually, 'political correctness' isn't a problem for you, and it isn't censoring you from saying what you want to say?

OK, well it looks like we both agree the OP is wrong then I guess.

seeker · 05/04/2013 11:49

Legitimate criticism is one thing. Cheap shots are another. Guess which one the "could have fooled me" comment was?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/04/2013 11:50

Fenton. .yes I agree.

Simontowers1 · 05/04/2013 11:50

Sudaname I just read your post and I totally see where you are coming from so thanks for taking the time to explain :-)

Ah the 'I pity you' pa insult.

YouTheCat · 05/04/2013 11:57

Shrieking, the very fact that you're now having to resort to petty insults says you have lost any dignity.

I'd quit while you're behind.
