to think i should be able to buy an Easter egg on EASTER Saturday

Just been to Sainsbury's to get an Easter egg for me and DP to share tomorrow but there are none left; zilch, nada, ZERO eggs. The person in the store looked at me like I had two heads when I asked where they were; "Easter Eggs you say? No, got none left. Might be a couple of cream eggs near the tills".

The 'seasonal' aisle is now full of summer gardening equipment (look outside people!!!) and confused looking mums wanting to buy last minute eggs.

Perhaps I should start shopping a season in advance; buying my Christmas turkey in September and Easter Eggs on Boxing day. Shit, I better start queuing for some sparklers for Bonfire Night in case they run out of those in November too.

Get it together Sainsburys. Some of us live in the moment.

It's the same in b,oat supermarkets, Waitrose this morning near us just had hardboil eggs le and no legs of lamb!

ilovepowerhoop · 30/03/2013 17:24

they had plenty in tesco yesterday. Dh says there were none left in asda today.

trinity0097 · 30/03/2013 17:24

Haribo not hard boiled!

UnChartered · 30/03/2013 17:24

nope, i was in Waitrose yesterday and they were clearing the easter eggs off the shelves in front of customers

not a stealth boast, just didn't want Sainsbos to get all the flack

but YADNBU, OP

katkit1 · 30/03/2013 17:24

Nothing in asda or tesco either - missed the boat this year it seems

Lottashakingoinon · 30/03/2013 17:25

Not unreasonable at all except today is not Easter Saturday, that's next Saturday. Today I think is Holy Saturday

Fleecyslippers · 30/03/2013 17:25

They've been on the shelves since Boxing Day Wink

MimmeeBack · 30/03/2013 17:26

Tesco express, all reduced too.

MrsGeologist · 30/03/2013 17:26

I got the last bag on mini eggs in Tesco today. I was ridiculously chuffed.

They had lots of eggs left, but they were all thorntons or double deckers (which I don't understand, double deckers are ace).

WorraLiberty · 30/03/2013 17:26

Morrisons was exactly the same today.

I've also noticed that most of the newsagents haven't stocked them at all for the last couple of years around here.

gymboywalton · 30/03/2013 17:26

YES!!!!!!!!! i have been to three brnaches of sainsburys, asda, the coop marks and spencer and numerous small shops. plenty of fucking bbq equipment but no bloody easter eggs!!!!

wtaf??? it's easter saturday!!! i am so glad that i am not the only person to be wanting to buy eggs at the lasts minutes!!!

zwischenzug · 30/03/2013 17:26

Just have some Easter broccoli instead. Think of the health benefits.

Cybbo · 30/03/2013 17:27

Nothing in Kingston. Ended up bulk buying bars of chocolate to hide around the house, from Lidl

gymboywalton · 30/03/2013 17:27

oh and morrisons too!

Vicky2011 · 30/03/2013 17:27

exactly the same issue for me - had ordered 2 for delivery from Thorntons yesterday but they didn't turn up so was at Sains at 8.00am this morning and, as you say - nada. I also got looked at like I was a loon for even asking.
BP Connect's overpriced offerings saved the day though.

yaimee · 30/03/2013 17:28

None in asda or Waitrose near me, also had a couple left but it was slim pickings. All the mums had their iPhones out trying to find out if anywhere else still had some in stock and the Easter egg rumour mill had gone into over drive with potential sightings sightings ring whispered and people running for their cars [bugrin]

WrenNatsworthy · 30/03/2013 17:28

I'll sell you DS's for 20 quid :o

OhChristHasRisenFENTON · 30/03/2013 17:29

When I looked on Thursday there wasn't a great choice. I only wanted the basic Dairy Milk eggs and there were none.

Luckily I was buying for older 'children' so just got multi-packs of bars and wrapped them up in tissue paper - chocolate is chocolate to the grown-ups older children.

Machli · 30/03/2013 17:29

Go to the smaller ones, the high street Tesco Or Sainsbury's. Always got them in there.

The Great Egg Disappearance of 2013 [bushock]

Just buy a huge slab of Galaxy, or some Mars Bars and use your imagination.

Mumof3men · 30/03/2013 17:30

I have had mine for the family stashed away for weeks. Beams proudly :-)

I am off to the first bbq of the year tonight though at which there will be one little one, went to the village today to get an extra egg and there were NONE!

Note to self-buy a couple of spare ones!

nars · 30/03/2013 17:32

every year our tesco runs out three days before easter. i complained once and the manager told me they had been out for months so had ample time to buy them! it's all a bit crackers imo. next year i may buy lots and sell them on ebay Wink

AuntieStella · 30/03/2013 17:33

I went upmarket this year (for DParents and DPiLs at least) and went to Hotel du Chocolat. I expect they might still have some of their Classic Ostrich Eggs (£70).

Fleecyslippers · 30/03/2013 17:33

Wren - excellent plan - I have 12 eggs - lets start the bidding at £25 each Grin

LovesBeingWokenEveryNight · 30/03/2013 17:39

I think they have all seriously cut how many they've had in
