To think its not okay for dh to laugh at me

So DH and I were messing around a little while ago and he made out that he was going to throw the cat at me. I was lying on the sofa and he was standing in front of me. I laughed and he threw the cat at me! I put my hand up and the cat has given me three long scratches on my palm.

I laughed initially because it didn't hurt right away. Within a minute or two it started bleeding and really hurt. I told DH it really hurt and he kept laughing. I got pissed off and he told me I was being a drama queen and got pissed off at me!

I know I laughed right after he did it, but AIBU to be pissed that he kept laughing at me even after I said it hurt?

I have just re-read your original post and you have def altered facts later on to make it seem better for the mog. I think that most people were pissed off because you didn't see anything wrong with how the cat was treated and you were just concerned with your hand and that your dh had no sympathy for you.

TrippingTheLifeFantastic · 29/03/2013 12:38

Thank you wwydmoney1

I have not altered facts. I should not have used the worn throw. I have admitted to that.

There is no point to going over and over this again. Obviously iabu and I will accept that.

Oh good grief.

The ops DH did something stupid - demonstrably so as the Op got scratched. The cat was pissed off.
It was a stupid thing to do.

Can we step back from the insults and the wailing. The 'I hope you are not cruel to your children' line is mawkish guff.

squeakytoy · 29/03/2013 12:43

Please dont include me in the "all".. it was fairly obvious to me that "threw" didnt mean he launched the cat across a room.. I have had cats that put their claws into me when they voluntarily jumped onto me from quite a distance.. I very much doubt the cat has been traumatised in any way!

zippey · 29/03/2013 12:43

If we look away from the animal cruelty, as long as you're not in a lot of pain, then I dont think its so bad of him laughing at you. I take it you both play "jokes" on each other?

TrippingTheLifeFantastic · 29/03/2013 12:45

Thank god! Pagwatch and squeakytoy have arrived and brought reason and common sense with them!

I will say, make sure you clean the wound well. Cat scratches can be very nasty and easily infected. My stepdaughter ended up in hospital with a blood poisoning when one of her cats scratched and left a deep cut.

countrykitten · 29/03/2013 12:50

Reason, common sense and agreeing with you you mean?

Amazing that all of these posters think you and your dh are both U but along come two posters who think you are not and you are all smiles. Why did you ask if you knew the answer?

Jeez.

NotTreadingGrapes · 29/03/2013 12:52

Well, yes, fair enough, he dropped the cat 6inches onto your lap and the mog got annoyed and scratched you.

So if that's the truth, then yes, your husband was BU to laugh at you.

But you can't just rewrite your post when you see that the original one isn't getting you the reaction you wanted. There'll be a bit in the Rules about that.

TrippingTheLifeFantastic · 29/03/2013 12:52

Thank you zippey for actually answering the question. I never expected everyone to side with me but I had hoped people would at least answer the question.

OP posts:
Pagwatch · 29/03/2013 12:56

I have loads of common sense though. It's true Grin

I think posts saying 'how stupid, poor cat, what a dumb thing to do' are fair enough tbh.
It's the aggressive, competitive outrage that just gets on my nerves.
Not every stupid act has to be treated as the vile actions of a likely child beater. Sometimes it's just a bit stupid.

TrippingTheLifeFantastic · 29/03/2013 12:57

No I don't mean agreeing with me countrykitten. I mean posters who can state their opinion without feeling the need to attack.

I completely accept the fact that I should not have laughed and DH should not have dropped the cat. I accept both of those facts and have previously said so.

I also know that I probably should not have posted this as quickly as I did last night, if at all. And more than anything else, I should have taken the time to choose my words a little more carefully - dropped rather than throw.

Sounds to me, as others have said, that he felt embarrassed that the cat had hurt you, so went in a strop. So he is BU in my opinion.

Also agree that, while the incident was clearly a bit silly, there are some massive over-reactions on here.

usualsuspect · 29/03/2013 13:12

Bit of a daft thing to do, but no need for the bloody pitchforks to be wielded about.

Salmotrutta · 29/03/2013 13:18
zwischenzug · 29/03/2013 13:20

" I was lying on the sofa and he was standing in front of me'

quote from the OP, its obvious he was stood right be her and 'threw' the cat onto her.

The preposition 'in front of' does not convey the proximity of the two subjects.

usualsuspect · 29/03/2013 13:23

Put that pitchfork down,Salmo. You will have someones eye out Grin

Salmotrutta · 29/03/2013 13:25
Grin
Pagwatch · 29/03/2013 13:25

Exactly Usual.
It wasn't a cat-astrophe.

Shock

You disrespected The Torch.

digerd · 29/03/2013 13:31

That your DH laughed at you when you were in pain, due to whatever he did, shows a lack of sympathy and empathy for you and in that you are NBU.

However, my DH laughed at me when I was in pain and he was a very caring man. But it was my silly fault. Our Dachshund which I treated as a baby, inadvertently bit me on the nose and it all swelled up. Even I had a bit of a snigger at my stupidity.
DH drove me to GPs and I was given an Tentanus jab.
