To wonder how on earth our 2 guests use over a loo roll a day?

We have two very lovely, very welcome and seemingly normal family members staying with for a couple of weeks. Neither one appears to have a stomach upset, or visit the loo more often or for longer than average... yet they get through 3 loo rolls every 2 days! We have restocked and are now set for the remainder of their stay, but in the meantime have become mystified, intrigued and now a little concerned for our ancient plumbing.

Are you a heavy paper-user? Can you help explain what is happening here? Or do we not want to know the horrible truth?

I use about a roll a day for the first couple of days of my period. Its not from choice.

Do they have colds? I use loo roll instead of tissue sometimes...

My lot use loads of loo roll. They now only get Tescos value ones

Period. My loo roll consumption rockets then.

They might both be like my Dh who seems to wrap half his arm in loo roll. Balanced out by me and the fact I was told as a child that if you need more than 6 sheets you need a wash!

or they might use for hand drying, some folk prefer disposable method rather than germy manky towel

not that your handtowel is germy or manky, just personal pref

Removing make up?

Has either of them got a cold?

Padding a bra?

Cleaning up after shagging or wanking?

Are you my inlaws, we get through a roll a day, although there is 4 of us, pils have a go at us and make us go and ask for more loo roll, its one of the reasons I wont be going there again.

I'm 38 weeks pregnant, it's shocking how quickly I'm getting through loo roll!

So my suspicions would be, 1) Your female guests is improving her cleavage. 2) your are not giving them enough to eat so they are having a little Andrex snack before bed. 3) they are making themselves a little toilet seat cover before placing their bottoms on the seat.........

Haha, love all your suggestions, and am hoping you guys are right about the hand drying or tissues (or cleavage!!) I'm not at all worried about a few extra loo rolls but a bit more concerned that if it's all getting flushed it might repeat on us at some point very soon!

DH agrees with PurplePidjin that it's down to lots of romance, which I think would be awesome for an aunt and uncle who've been together a very long time, especially as you'd have to be very keen on each other to feel frisky on our rickety old sofa-bed

Could you ask them if they are doing a lot of shagging or wanking?

Covering the toilet water with a layer of loo roll to disguise the embarrassing 'plop' sound while in someone else's house?

Why do you actually care? I think that's very strange in itself.

I'm a heavy bog roll user, but I've got Crohns.
I found the solution is not, in fact, to use cheap crap as you end up using twice as much, but really decent stuff which is a bit thicker, so I use less.

Current faves are Charmin, ASDA soft and one of the Aldi ones.

Because she's rather concerned her toilet could get blocked.

DH easily uses a roll a day sometimes, just in his normal toilet activities, not bra stuffing or nose blowing. When I first moved in with him I couldn't believe how often we needed to buy more and also how often the toilet got blocked. We always have to ask hotels for extra loo roll. I hate it when we arrive in a hotel room to find they've only left 1/2 a roll.

I have talked to him about it (there is nothing wrong with him, physically) but it's a bit unreasonable to ask an adult to change their toilet habits. Or so I'm told. I think he's a bit better than he used to be but it may be that I'm used to it now.

I understand your wonder at how much they're using but it's just one of those things. It's quite possible they're already embarrassed about it.

When ex and I split it was an additional and extra bonus that bog roll consumption dropped from a 12 pack per week to a 12 pack per two weeks or even longer

Strangely the same thing happened with shampoo & shower gel too and until that point I had always assumed we were 'heavy users' of these products due to the dcs.

Are they American? I'm sure I've read that bits as a nation fold their paper but the banks scrunch so get through more (and us toilet paper is thinner than ours).

I use tons of paper, according to DH. I am not messing about with one tiny square...

Does one of them wear contacts and not want to dry their hands on a shared hand towel?
