to hate the term "booby juice" and other BF equivalents?

What's wrong with calling breast milk breast milk? There seems to be an obsession with giving it a crunchy (hate that term as well), hip alternative name. Recent ones include:

boob/y juice
mummy milk
vanilla lemonade (WTH!?)

Am I alone on this? (BTW I am very pro BF, just don't see the need to give funky names for it)

Yanbu it's breastmilk. What you use with your lo is between you, but in conversation it's a bit cringeworthy

Yanbu in our house it is milk. Cows milk is cow milk.

yanbu about boob juice, it feels odd for a child to say that, it's not juice, and boob isn't a word I like hearing a toddler say, they can wait until school to learn slang. But mummy milk is what it it's to them!

Vanilla lemonade I have never heard, and would probably "wtf?!" If I heard somebody use it!

We have 'milk' and 'milk in a cup'

One of my friend's dad used to call it "getting on the tit express" about his own daughter breastfeeding. I thought it was a hideous and quite demeaning term.

When trying to get dc on to ff and dc was having none of it, completely refused, my gran said,
" why would dc drink wine when dc can have champagne!"

At home we have milky mummy snuggles, but not around non-family adults. Around other adults he's breastfed, no cutsey names.

I've never heard these terms and it wasn't refered to as anything apart from 'ds needs his feed'. Or ' just feeding DH's or similar.
Mind you the bf was finished before they could talk so there was never any cringe moments where they would be asking for a'boob'

I don't mind 'mummy milk', don't like 'booby juice' and on a (tenuously) related matter become incandescent with rage when my parents refer to DD's dummy as her 'titty', although I ,are the mistake of asking them if they could call it a dummy and now they overdo the titty and refuse to use dummy.

Baby has learnt that ipad has a touch screen. As if I didn't have enough trouble already with auto correct.

Glad to know I am rnot alone! Mummy milk is probably the least offending, I have used it I think to explain breastfeeding to my older children.

Booby juice in particular irritates me, everytime I hear it i imagine a woman with two capri-sun pouches instead of breasts lol. I have seen bibs/baby gros recently with "I love my boob juice" emblazened. Cringe.

I remember reading that in other European countries breast milk translates as "mother's milk" I prefer "mother's milk" to breast milk i think. I suppose it's like saying "cow's milk" rather than "udder milk."

silverten no, no hateful vibes lol. My youngest called it ninny! It is the adult given names to the milk that grates on me. Public announcements of "Pixie wants some booby juice!" is what I find bizarre/cringeworthy. Also forum threads entitled "How much booby juice does your pixie need?"

Some terms are bad, but we do say ds name milk, mummy's milk and my dc do say booby milk, but they call cows milk; their milk, carton milk or cow juice. It is after all just words.

Yanbu, they make me cringe, especially the mummy milky ones. Luckily I have never heard anyone refer to it as that. It's really twee and sugar coated. Why does it get called that anyway? Can't it just be called 'a feed'?

We call it worshipping at the temple of nip in our house. Or nipster.com

My DP calls it tit juice because he knows it annoys me

DS (he's 3) calls it 'titty milk' or just plain 'titty'. Thanks DH. 'Booby juice' would be a far less embarrassing option.

Oh, and cows' milk is known as 'daddy milk', and then the two of them shriek with laughter.

In our HOUSE its miche and cow juice. Those are ds2's names he came up with. To others he's still breastfed, which is good because he's struggling with d&v and I'm so glad we continued last 2yo.
