hoping for some encouraging tales of successful pregnancies from the over 40s out there

One and only at 41, pregnancy was fairly good, went on holiday at 14 weeks pregnant to Barbados (had booked pre pregnancy).
Normal delivery in a birth centre.

DukeSilver · 15/03/2013 17:14

I was 23 but I know of quite a lot of pregnancies conceived after 40. One of my friends had her youngest at 41 and her next one at 44, another had her youngest at 41 and my granny had 3 children past her 40th birthday.

TheSmallPrint · 15/03/2013 17:15
  1. My SIL has just had one mid 40s though.
BalloonSlayer · 15/03/2013 17:16

43!

Both my maternal great-grandmothers (my Mum's grannies) had babies at 48!

My great Aunt (by marriage) had a surprise pregnancy resulting in a baby at 49. Mind you, it did get into the papers. Grin

LittleWhiteWolf · 15/03/2013 17:16

I was 26 when I had my youngest (and 23 when I had my first)

mum2bubble · 15/03/2013 17:17

Owllady you sound perfectly normal to me - just very fortunate to have met the right person at a nice young age Smile

leedy · 15/03/2013 17:28

SashaSashays · 15/03/2013 17:30

19 was my oldest DC
34 was my youngest DC.

5 DC in total.

36 I became a GRANDMOTHER Shock

I didn't ever want to have DC over 35, but I'm 40 now and I'm pretty sure I could easily conceive if DH and I tried it so I'm sure you'll be fine.

lljkk · 15/03/2013 17:30
  1. Easiest, not that any were truly easy!
Absolutelylost · 15/03/2013 17:31

My mum had my youngest at 40 with no problems.

curiousgeorgie · 15/03/2013 17:43

27 for DD, 30 now and expecting DC2...
My mum had e of my brothers at 41 with no problems at all :)

nokidshere · 15/03/2013 17:47

I had my first at 39 and my second at 41. Both conceived naturally after 15yrs ttc. Both straightforward pregnancies and births. Good luck

biryani · 15/03/2013 17:50
  1. But one and only. She was born 11 weeks premature, by emergency C section, after a mainly trouble-free pregnancy. I didn't feel particularly old but I sometimes think I have an old-fashioned attitude to parenting compared to some.
