to not understand the hatred for Kristen Stewart?

I will say that Bella Swan as a character is quite lame in my opinion BUT Kristen Stewart plays the character well.

Bella has some bad traits and is very much a Mary-Sue.

People have such a hatred for Twilight on here and seem to assume that Kristen is actually Bella and post photos of her with the same expression for each emotion as hilarious and original.

I have seen a few of her other films (Welcome to the Rileys, On the Road etc) and I think shes a great actress and can play different characters well and find it hard to have such a hatred for her.

I agree with you, she ia brilliant as snow white.

MidnightMasquerader · 02/03/2013 18:25

What's a Mary-Sue, out of interest?

I think sometimes people really do have trouble disassociating actors from unlike-able characters they portray, and unfortunately, Bella Swan definitely falls into that camp.

squeakytoy · 02/03/2013 18:33

Every photo I have seen of her at premieres or any other occasion, she looks like a sulky brat who needs a good wash.

Meglet · 02/03/2013 18:42

Oh, I'm quite fond of her when she turns up looking like a sulky brat Grin. Posh dresses and converse plimsoles are my kind of look.

I've never actually seen her in anything as I don't watch films.

patienceisvirtuous · 02/03/2013 18:48

I like Kristen. Would rather her over these fake reality 'celebs' anyday!

BridgetBidet · 02/03/2013 18:54

I'm not mad keen on her, though hating her is far, far too strong a word.

What gets on my wick about her is that she is living a life which is for most people the ultimate dream. She is incredibly rich and privileged, has a dream job which she is at the top of and successful at and in the position where she can pick and choose which jobs she does. She had a handsome, talented, successful partner. She gets to travel widely, live in amazing houses and wear fantastic clothes.

Yet she the majority of the time she has a face like a smacked arse and is rude to interviewers and the 'little people' and behaves as if she's suffering through every minute of it.

It annoys me because there are so many other people who would be grateful for a life like that and it's privileges and adore every minute of it.

Not mooch about looking like they're sucking lemons and are having to do a 16 hour shift down a mine every day.

StuntGirl · 02/03/2013 18:55

I don't hate her. I think she's talentless and boring, but I don't care enough to hate her.

MrsMaryCooper · 02/03/2013 19:04

She was very good as Joan Jett in The Runaways. Possibly she is only relaxed when she is acting, and is just rubbish when she doesn't have a script.

I don't really care though.

RainbowCrystal · 02/03/2013 19:05

I seen a couple of her interviews and never see her being rude. And where is the evidence for being rude to the 'little people'?

Sorry I'm not pro-Kristen Stewart and think she is amazing etc but what I don't like is when people make above assumptions and state them like they are facts when they don't give evidence of it.

She is a good actress and I don't really mind what she does in her personal life as it has nothing to do with me as long as the films I watch that she is in are good then I'm fine.

I think that people who are mad about Robert Pattinson dislike her because of her infidelity.

LaalRatty · 02/03/2013 19:10

It's cos she cheated on her fella, whats his name? Y'know the quare oul fella from the films? Thats why. Some people are crying about it on Youtube and shit.

YouTheCat · 02/03/2013 19:13

She has one expression. I've not seen Twilight because it's utter bilge (read first few pages of the first book and thought a 6 year old could do better). I did see her in Snow White and she was awful. She is also inarticulate in interviews and looks like she could do with a good scrub.

Can't be bothered to hate her though, I'll just be avoiding her films in future.

NorbertDentressangle · 02/03/2013 19:17

I've never seen her in anything so I'm only aware of her from the DM sidebar of shame so, to me, she just looks a stroppy, sulky teenager. I can see where you're coming from BridgetBidet!

Oh, and didn't she have a fling with a married director or something??

BridgetBidet · 02/03/2013 19:26

She does have a reputation to being rude to fans and people she works with. Ignoring fans, turning up at premiers where crowds have waited hours to see her and just walking past them. She's reknowned for surly monosyllabic interviews. There have been multiple reports in the press about her bad attitude - to the point where she even discussed them herself when she was interviewed by Vanity Fair.

And she's always banging on about how hard and awful her life is and how much she has to put up with. And you know, when an awful lot of people are struggling to keep there head above water these days I always think 'Yeah, well go and live in a council flat on a minimum wage job, then you'll have something to scowl about love'.

freddiefrog · 02/03/2013 19:41

I don't hate her, I don't care either way

I do think that the Twilight films are the biggest pile of pap I've ever had the misfortune to sit through, I've never seen her in anything else

LiveFast · 02/03/2013 19:48

I do think that the Twilight films are the biggest pile of pap I've ever had the misfortune to sit through

So why sit through more than one then?

freddiefrog · 02/03/2013 19:53

I have a daughter who loves them

BinksToEnlightenment · 02/03/2013 20:00

I like her. And I like twilight.

kaumana · 02/03/2013 20:00

Don't know her so would not know if I would like her or not. However, I do think the Twilight movies are a load of guff but then again I'm not the target audience, just the poor sod that has to take pre teens to the cinema..

LittleMilla · 02/03/2013 20:02

As Bridget said.

I have a stylist friend who has worked with her twice and BOTH times she was horrendous. Calling my mate names and generally behaving like a fckn brat.

Good reason to dislike her IMO!

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 02/03/2013 20:02

i dont hate her, but i dont like her either.

ive seen her in quite a few things and she does seem to only play one character in all her films. imo she also comes across as brattish, moody and dead behind the eyes has no personality... in real life and in films.

i do agree that most people hate her because they hate twilight, or cause of what she did to rob though

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 02/03/2013 20:04

I don't hate her, I do find her very boring and over rated though.

Similar to Jude Law - raved about, yet I have not seen him in anything where I have thought "he is a good actor". He is a mediocre actor - same as KS.

She has got a sulky gob on her though and appears to take herself far too seriously.

I enjoyed the first Twilight film (have tried to read the books but just found them hideously boring but I am 20 years older than the desired age range Grin)

Snow White was an...erm....experience. 2 hours of my life that I will never get back.

Plus, Twilight is shite in comparison to real vampire films/shows like True Blood and Buffy!! Wink

FrillyMilly · 02/03/2013 20:05

I don't really like her. I can't say I hate her though. I agree with the person up thread who says her attitude is a bit off. She acts as if she has a gun to her head and is being forced to act in films and have wealth beyond most people's wildest dreams. I have little sympathy for celebs who moan about not having a private life.

BOF · 02/03/2013 20:31

She does come across as rather surly and unappreciative. Compare her to the ray of sunshine that is Jennifer Lawrence (if you put 'Jennifer
Lawrence funny' into YouTube, you can spend a long time watching how a down-to-earth pleasant young actor handles being in the spotlight), who was also up for the Bella Swan part, and the difference between them is astonishing. I know who I'd rather work with.
