We filled a thread, so here's another!

If you feel where the underwire is and you push the underwire down, so it's moving toward the middle bit. I suppose if the underwire was up further it would be the underwire.

this bra is the one I bought and it's a bit empty at the top, but nicely fitting on the rest of it.

Thank you very much for your help, I really do apperciate it.

ArbitraryUsername · 01/03/2013 21:59

That bra would look really odd under a tshirt. Like you'd stuck a couple of oranges underneath it.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 22:01

Hello Dougal73!

How is the back feeling on the 40 if you put it on back to front? Although you measure right for a 40, sometimes ladies who are slightly "squishy of torso" need to go down further in the back to get adequate support. In a 40 back, I would think you may need a J/JJ however it may be the back that is the issue

Sorry didn't notice you ask for measurements. My measurements are 35 under and 43 around breasts. Trying on a 36E at the moment.

dougal73 · 01/03/2013 22:05

The back feels quite comfortable when back to front, so maybe it's a bit big. I definitely feel that my boobs are a bit too big for the cups when I do the scoop thing! Hmmmm a J/JJ OMG

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 22:06

Ah, do you mean the wire is shorter then the "channel" it sits in, so there is either spare fabric in the middle, or spare at the sides depending on how you position the wire?

And, double ah - moulded bra. Unfortunately, whilst they are wonderful for some things they are the worst bras for gaping as they have no ability to flex/mould to your shape. So if you don't match the bra perfectly, it gapes.

I wonder if you might be better with something which isn't moulded. I think the Alana is quite good for full on bottom boobs as it is quite tight across the top (full on top ladies don't tend to like it). You might also get on better with something a little lower cut at the top/sides.

Do bras that big actually exist anywhere?

CelticPromise · 01/03/2013 22:06

Forgoss try 36FF, or if you are ' squishy' maybe even a 34G.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 22:08

TooExtraImmatureCheddar - the ladies at Bravissimo in Edinburgh are lovely and very "gentle" with newbies. I have taken a very shy friend there before.

forgossake try a 36F!

OP posts:
CelticPromise · 01/03/2013 22:08

Samra on your measurements I would start with a 34G.

DoubleLifeIsALifeHalved · 01/03/2013 22:10

Hello! I'm late to this thread as I spent two days reading the last one! Have skipped quite a few pages so sorry if I'm asking you to repeat things.

Am off to find a tape measure but first:

  • does a really tight back strap actually hurt/ put pressure on your back? I'd be worried about that?
  • I've got very very soft boobs & bust tissue which always end up getting squashed or cut into two / four etc. any idea what shapes might help? I used to get plunge bras when younger as that stopped the top of the cup cutting my boobs in two misshapen lumps but I'm much fatter now and bigger boobs so don't really have a solution
StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 22:10

Yes, FORGOSS< 36FF! sorry! Thanks Celtic!

Dougal, that sounds like maybe you should try a 38 back. Maybe try a 40J and a 38JJ to start? They are OK sizes to get - I have linked to a few big bra retailers upthread :)

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 22:12

Hello DoubleLife!

A tight band (i.e. one that fits!) is actually good for your back. If they are too loose, then you wind up hunching your shoulders and getting pain. A good bra improves posture so is beneficial.
The right size bra will help with most of the cutting in half issues, but you probably want to avoid most plunges due to the potential for falling out! A higher central gore will be better.

Thank you so much Thanks
F/FFShock
Very excited at this news and am going to brave the shops over the weekend.

SamraLee · 01/03/2013 22:20

Yes Statistic, that is exactly what I meant about the fabric! I'm a bit clueless as to what bras to get, I think I might be better off going into the store and trying some on. I think I'll have to have my husband take me to Manchester into the Bravissimo store, he's always looking for an excuse to buy me some things, I absolutely hate shopping. That way I will at least get to try different styles without having to order and send back.

Celtic are you sure about the 34G? I'm trying a 36E right now and feel like the band might be a bit tight. Maybe I'm just bass ackwards as they say...

DoubleLifeIsALifeHalved · 01/03/2013 22:21

Ok, found tape & after hanging over in all sorts of odd positions trying to pin down the slippery pendulous nooks I think I am:

36.5 and 45

(And currently wear a 38D and a 40C)

Sooo please announce my size?!

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 22:23

Samra, if the cup isn't fitting right then it can make the back feel too small.

It would definitely be worth trying different styles. There may well be a moulded that does work for you - it's a bit of trial and error to find the one with the right shape. Bravissimo have quite a few - one may suit.

Itsmynamechange · 01/03/2013 22:23

Could someone 'do' me?

Under 33"

Over 46"

Currently in 34H/34J/32HH bras

Thanks

Abra1d · 01/03/2013 22:24

You bra-fitters are so generous with your time.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 22:24

DoubleLfeIsALifeHalved....try a 36G as a start point!

OP posts:
CelticPromise · 01/03/2013 22:24

Have you tried the band back to front ignoring the cups? If the cup is too small the band will feel too tight. You are between band sizes but most women who are find that the smaller size gives better support.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 22:25

itsmynamechange start with a 32HH! Sounds like you are in the right sizes already, are you having any issues?

OP posts:
CelticPromise · 01/03/2013 22:26

namechange I make you a 32JJ on measurements so you're not miles away. Do your bras fit?

CelticPromise · 01/03/2013 22:27

Perhaps I can't count, it's late Confused

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 22:27

OH FFS I really can't count tonight! What is with that? Yes, a JJ not aa HH.
