We filled a thread, so here's another!

Cmot - I'm a double FF and like you am totally flabberghasted.

Also completely astonishing is how many of us didn't know their size - or until now, how to measure properly and I've been wearing a bra for over 30 years.

Bring on the revolution! Grin

Right, so I should be a 34DD or a 36D.

I've just ordered a couple of bras to try on but realised(!) this morning that I'm currently wearing a 36B. If I think about it, it feels a bit narrow at the bottom, but even with extensive, vigorous scooping it still gapes at the top.

Is this because:
A) it's too small so fits badly everywhere and the gaping is just an extension of that;

B) it's cheap rubbish from Asda so probably isn't even a 36B especially as its kind of a bit moulded; or

C) I must have measured myself wrongly and there's no way I can be a 36D after all..

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 19:02

Chances are you need the 34, which will hold the bra up much better. It can be very hard to stop a bra gaping at the top if it is too big in the back as it just collapses forward.

Warning: bra intervention thread will lead to you wanting to accost random women in asda with a bra intervention...... So many four boobs and wobbles on the go!

(It was 8 degrees C in Scotland today which evidently means we wear vest tops Smile)

Trazzletoes · 01/03/2013 19:06

Thanks sc I think I need you on speed dial!

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 19:06

Thank you Celtic I have told her and will take her to bravissimo on Monday/Tuesday. This must be the most life changing thread I've ever read.

pixiegumboot · 01/03/2013 19:23

OK my problem is that my boobs seem too close together. There is no way the bit in the middle will sit flat there's just no room. If I do manage to put one on that sits flat-ish it pushes my boobs out and away from each other looks most odd. Help! !Confused

littlemisssunny · 01/03/2013 19:27

Ooh could you tell me my size please I'm 34.5 inches underneath and 40 inches over I think! I am wearing a 38a but can never find one that fits nicely!

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 19:27

Pixie this is an issue I have - very very close set boobs. I find I either need to wear a bra which is seriously low in the middle, or one which has a very tall central gore so the middle sits over my breast tissue and doesn't dig in. Something like the Bravissimo Alana or Betsy Bow, or the Fantasie Florence, work for this. But anything kind of half height is exceptionally painful, so I struggle with demi-plunges. I have just got my first bras from Ewa Michalak and they have a very narrow central gore. Kris Line are also quite narrow, and Bravissimo own brand aren't bad. Panache are dire and some Curvy Kate's aren't great either.

If the middle is tall enough then my boobs don't fall back together

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 19:28

LittleMisssunny, that's cos you probably need around a 34E :)

OP posts:
littlemisssunny · 01/03/2013 19:31

Really Shock an E? :o

No wonder I couldn't find a nice fitting bra!!

poppypebble · 01/03/2013 19:34

I bought a 36D today, and it fits so much better than the 38B I was being tortured with, but I can still pull the band away quite a bit and when I scoop there is a bit of 4 boob going on. Should I go up a cup size or down a back size?

CelticPromise · 01/03/2013 19:36

Both poppy from the sound of it.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 19:37

By the sounds of it, both are needed. So, I would try a 34E and 34F.

OP posts:
HazleNutt · 01/03/2013 19:38

and several cup sizes, Poppy. If you get 4-boob, the D is too small, so you would need to go up a cup size, possibly two, to 36DD or 36E. If you go down a band, you need to go up a cup just to compensate, so try 34F.

poppypebble · 01/03/2013 19:38

Thanks Celtic - so I should try a 34E?

Thank you so much for these threads - trying that bra on tonight was the first time I ever felt like a had boobs!

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 19:47

OP posts:
OrangeLily · 01/03/2013 20:14

There was one women with a big shelf type wobble going on and she was hoicking at her straps something awful...... Aaahhhhh

Going on a hen do this weekend so plenty of opportunity to talk boobs with other ladies.

CelticPromise · 01/03/2013 20:17

Evening SC. I have seen a few bra disasters today. Maybe we should have a flyer we can slip in their pockets...

HazleNutt · 01/03/2013 20:37

Hey SC. Even my DH now points out badly fitting bras to me, after me ranting about them so passionately.
And sports bras! The flimsy tops sold as sports bras should all be burned - I teach some fitness classes and can I just say "ouch!". Some women must be hugely uncomfortable, with their boobs flying from knees to chin with every move. Yes, there are sports bras out there for DD+ women, really!
