We filled a thread, so here's another!

I'm another M&S victim I'm afraid, though I was also fitted by a small local shop who in the end said the same measurement as M&S but suggested a load of different styles. I've tried everything from padded to ultimo style bras to underwired scaffolding to try and keep my boobs in place and the back fat and ugly bulging stuff in place. I can't tell you how happy I am with my new boobage!

Nightfall1983 · 01/03/2013 16:54

So today MAY have been my first day ever wearing a properly fitting bra - or maybe it needs a bit more tweaking. I'm not sure because I've never had such a tight fitting band before and I think it may take some getting used to but it wasn't comfortable.

Scooping seems to make it fit well but after about 30mins of activity (hoiking the LO about) the fat side boob seems to slip out and the under-wires poke into me. Now I can practically hear you saying try a smaller backsize but I tried that in the store (current 36DD, tried 34E) and couldn't really even do it up. Also the central bit of the current bra REALLY digs in to my chest and hurts alot. However I must admit that I AM able to get my whole hand under the front of the bra which makes no sense really...

Any advice or will I just get used to it?

sparkle12mar08 · 01/03/2013 16:57

Sounds like you might need to try a bigger cup size again, perhaps a 34f?

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 16:58

That sounds like the cup might be too small still, possibly coupled with too big a back. What bra was it - might not be quite the right shape for you either?

Nightfall1983 · 01/03/2013 17:04

It's difficult because I could probably do with some RL advice on what shape suits me but have no faith in high street stores and don't know where to try - no Bravissimo in Derby (not that I've even imagined myself in Bravissimo previously, I thought I was a 40A!).

Anyway, it was a t-shirt style bra, though not called that. It's an m&s ultimate comfort one I think...

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 17:07

Can I suggest trying a non-padded/moulded bra? T-shirt bras have their place however the lack of flexibility in their shape means that it is much harder to get a good fit, and you can't really tell if it is quite right for you or not. In terms of working out your size, they're not the best place to start.

Nightfall1983 · 01/03/2013 17:11

Ok, I'll give it a go - what is your opinion on non-underwired?

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 17:17

Not great unless you are really quite petite in the bust department. I think a lot of ladies fear underwired bras because they have never had one which fits properly!

blibblibs · 01/03/2013 17:41

Can you do me please. 34C/D aren't working and the jml type crop thing is crap.

33.5 under
39/40 depending on how tight i have it

(Squidged to 36 in this awful thing I have on today Sad)

SorrelForbes · 01/03/2013 17:45

I'm not surprised the 34C/D isn't working for you.

Try a 34DD/E and a 32F/FF. More cup room will really help with the tightness of the band. Make sure you try the bras on back to front first to work out the correct band size for you.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 01/03/2013 18:03

I tried to write a message but it magically disappeared.

Thank you so so much Statistically I have actually been wearing a 34B for 10 years and I am in fact a 30E. I went to bravissimo thinking I would be thrown out and I walked out a very very happy lady, my new bra fits perfectly and you are now my favourite mn-er. My only problem now is buying a whole new wardrobe of bras.

Inspired by this I told my mum (who also wears 34B) to measure herself and would be very grateful if you could size her too....she measures 32 under bust 37 under.

CelticPromise · 01/03/2013 18:13

Strawberry 32DD for starters for your mum.

TheThickPlottens · 01/03/2013 18:14

Thank you for your advice. It'll be next week before I get to the shops but I'm dying to try out some 32DDs! And to think that I was wearing 36AAs before pregnancy. No wonder the underwire hurt.
I'm glaring now at my 36B cup bra now and it's pretty new.

I'll report back when I've tried on my new size.

I think you advisors (MBEs) could go on tour and shock nation. I'm picturing a boob mobile...

HazleNutt · 01/03/2013 18:15

what is it with that 34B? everybody and their mother seems to be wearing it, did M&S have a serious surplus and that's why they told all women, no matter what their size, that this is what they should be wearing?

sparkle12mar08 · 01/03/2013 18:17

What we need is a bra measuring flash mob in an M&S...

stacysmom · 01/03/2013 18:19

Or a new 8pm Channel 4 show at the very least.

TheThickPlottens · 01/03/2013 18:20

I'm imaging a mob of MNers flashing their bras in M&S Grin

beanbump · 01/03/2013 18:21

Thank you so much ladies!! I went shopping today and was told I was a 38E. I picked up a 38E & seriously doubted that it would fit. It was HUGE!! I brought in lots of smaller sizes BUT surprise you were right - it was perfect. A little tight on the band but i have been wearing 42B!! My husband even noticed tonight -I think because they are up north & not down south!! I am going to order more online - are there any brands that are smaller/larger fitting? Thank you again

CMOTDibbler · 01/03/2013 18:21

I'm 34 underbust, 41 overbust in the 90' measuring position. What bra size is that then?

blibblibs · 01/03/2013 18:24

Thank you. Will try to get some alone time at the weekend and go shopping.

If I pull tightly under bust is 32.5 but thats very very tight. But will try all sizes, back to front first Smile

Will update soon, hopefully

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/03/2013 18:25

CMOT Dibbler, welcome to the revolution ;)

Try a 34F as a starting point.

CMOTDibbler · 01/03/2013 18:28

Bloomin heck. An F cup

SorrelForbes · 01/03/2013 18:28

Yes, please come back and update as I'm very nosey interested in how people get on with their new sizes.

NoHank · 01/03/2013 18:35

G? GG?

Thank you CelticPromise I will certainly give it a try and report back!

SorrelForbes · 01/03/2013 18:40

Just re-posting this blog as it does a great job explaining why cup size is relative to back size.
