...they have a baboons arse stuck to their head?

Loads of people wear them and they look grim IMO. I've had to use a small one for DD for dancing shows in the past but they have a net over so the "hole" is disguised.

There are lots of people wearing their hair like this at the moment. A normal bun, messed up would be much more attractive.

The bigger the "donut" the worse it looks.

Some people aren't great at arranging them....they look like Baboon Arse Heads...others, who can do them well look lovely.

So yabu and yanbu. It's not the doghnuts but the skills which are to blame in some cases.

4TheLoveOfBob · 27/02/2013 11:21

I like that style. Its pretty and a bit funky. Messy buns look nice of they are low, but high buns need volume imo.

Badly Done Bun

Nice Bun

MrsMushroom · 27/02/2013 11:23

Ah balls. You have to scroll to the bottom to see the bad bun.

BumBiscuits · 27/02/2013 11:24

MrsMushroom

I must say there is someone at work who does a messy one that does look nice. Exception to prove the rule Grin

The rest are BAHs Grin

YANBU. I really think the "massive bun on the top of my head" look is awful.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 27/02/2013 11:26

Where do you put the rest of your hair Confused I get ponytail, I get ponytail through bun rung, then what?

MoodyDidIt · 27/02/2013 11:30

i like the "badly done bun" mrsmushroom Blush

i just can't do my hair in a bun :(

BumBiscuits · 27/02/2013 11:32

The way I did my daugher's was to make a ponytail and secure it with a hair elastic. Push the hair through the donut. Spread the hair round the donut then secure it with another hair elastic over the whole thing. The bits that stick out I tuck under then secure the whole think with kirby grips and a hairnet (hairnet was a requirement for the dancing show).

I put my DD's BA low on the back of her head. The donut was a small sized one.

You sort of spread the hair over the donut and then pin it in. I used to wear one for work, low just in my neck. I had to wear a hat, airline, so it was a sleek way to keep my hair Done and also convenient to balance my hat in. Grin

FryOneFatManic · 27/02/2013 11:34

Gwendoline According to my mum, you back comb the ponytail and then pin the hair over the donut to hide it.

Actually, I was doing this hair style 25+ years ago, on the back of the head, not the top. Now it's a plastic mesh type donut, but back then it was a nylon hair like mesh, that actually was easier to disguise. Pity I chucked it away.

MrsMushroom · 27/02/2013 11:37

Nobody asked how to do it.

OP wants to know if they look like Baboons' arses.

MrsMushroom · 27/02/2013 11:38

Oh I see Gwendoline asked.

Well Gwen, stop sidetracking...does this style resemble a primate's bottom or not?

VisualiseAHorse · 27/02/2013 11:42

Looks extra bad if you have dark roots.

I quite like a high messy bun. Not a doughnut bun though.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 27/02/2013 12:54

Yup!

And I've just signed DD1 up for dancing so will presumably shortly be making acquaintance with said baboons' arses...

yaimee · 27/02/2013 13:00

That blog

Sparklingbrook · 27/02/2013 13:02

No buns here. I am grateful I have DSs and don't need to do hairstyles. Grin Will look out for baboon bum heads now.

DialsMavis · 27/02/2013 13:05

My donut bun looks great haterz

Poledra · 27/02/2013 13:19

Donuts have been my saviour for the DDs' dance shows/exams. I am so shit at doing hairstyles

If they look like a primate's arse, well, it's not me wearing it... Grin

The bun on the top of the hea dlooks like a cottage loaf.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/02/2013 13:54

My DD (nearly 11 yo) has a couple of these bun things (one large ,one small)

She takes her inspiration from Kylie on Coronation Street - Blush

willesden · 27/02/2013 14:01

Smile at OP.

garlicbreeze · 27/02/2013 14:15

The bun on the top of the head looks like a cottage loaf.

It does! Thanks, I wondered why it made me fancy a snack ...

ThatVikRinA22 · 27/02/2013 21:16

i wear mine in a bun with the donut for work....not on top of head but i cant quite get it very low either....need a slightly smaller donut for low bun i think even though hair is quite long now....

its super fast and looks neat for work but DH says i look like a school maam and hates it.

aPseudonymToFoolHim · 27/02/2013 21:39

Make me think of mrs tweedy

BumBiscuits · 28/02/2013 14:06

Gee whizz. I saw a MAAAHOOOSIVE one out at lunchtime today that was about the size of half a football. Cheered me right up Grin
