my electric meter is in my cellar/playroom, so they have to trapse through my house to get to the meter. I had a screaming baby so i told him it wasnt convenient I got quite a lecture about checking it for safety so i asked him to come back in a couple of hours (to give me a chance to sort lunch out and clear the playroom floor so he doesnt break his neck!) he was not impressed and knocked again half an hour later. I ignored it he knocked 3 times! It was only read 2 months ago and I dont really like strangers demanding entry to my home! Anyway i now have a note to say ive refused entry twice!

I wonder whether saxonlad is one of the sudden influx of posters asking plaintively "what's so bad about UKIP?"

Perhaps his next post will be even more enlightening. This chippy diatribe might just be the run up Grin

Grin Canus

Hoppinggreen · 13/05/2014 17:38

I read my own and send it in online.
You could leave the meter reader on the doorstep, take a photo of meter with phone and then go and show him/her

MojitoMadness · 13/05/2014 17:39

Oi, saxonlad88 we don't want any now do fuck off back to mummy, there's a dear.

foolishpeach · 13/05/2014 17:51

I wonder if National Grid or energy companies would be interested in saxonlad's comments? Not great PR for them.

I have a good mind to start composing an email to the CEO of the National Grid now...

CortanaFights · 13/05/2014 18:04

I've screenshotted and tweeted Foolish, I wonder if NG has Twitter too?

Jengnr · 13/05/2014 18:06

Poor Saxonlad. Mind you, he's such a gobshite it's no wonder people don't let him in.

I bet even his Mum doesn't.

foolishpeach · 13/05/2014 18:09

They do Cortana - Twitter, Facebook

CortanaFights · 13/05/2014 18:11

Found it!

CortanaFights · 13/05/2014 18:13

Oh look, a response already.

to not let the meter reader in?
qwertybirdie · 13/05/2014 18:23

Glad they have seen it. Imagine letting that into your home! He is the reason that I don't like to let strangers in when I am alone. He is a disgrace to the profession, and cost his companies money initiating false investigations.

foolishpeach · 13/05/2014 18:27

Ooh well done Cortana! Hopefully they'll carry out an investigation now...

qwertybirdie · 13/05/2014 18:28

Sorry, should clarify - people like him are the reason, not him personally (I don't think)

Actually, though he got a bit ranty I agree with everything Saxon said. My husband did this as a student. It's a shit job, they have a quota of readings to collect or they get panned and they have to deal with a whole lot of people acting like they are serial killers and being complete arses. Just let them do their bloody job, it takes seconds.

If you don't want a meter reader in your little "castles", get the meter out get off the bloody grid and buy candles . It's a sad little power trip to be so obstructive.

TomNG · 13/05/2014 18:30

Hi - Tom at National Grid here. Picked up the message from CortanaFights via twitter and we will investigate this.

We take this sort of matter seriously and we expect all employees and contractors to treat customers and members of the public with respect. I am sorry that this has not happened in this case.

Tom, that's great to hear!
Thank you for such a quick response, no doubt you set a few minds at rest.

foolishpeach · 13/05/2014 18:36

Thanks for looking into this so fast Tom.

CortanaFights · 13/05/2014 18:38

Given his year of birth is prob 1988, he gave his current and previous role and he had a day's holiday today I doubt the investigation will take that long.

randomfemale · 13/05/2014 19:07

What a quick response from NG

BornFreeButinChains · 13/05/2014 19:09

Do not let people who have not made appts into your home.

do not do it.

we have people pushing past homeowners and demanding money and all sorts round here.....

do not do it.

CortanaFights · 13/05/2014 19:16

I've only been on Twitter a few hours, now I can't stop refreshing....

FryOneFatManic · 13/05/2014 19:21

I've been searching online but can't find any reference to 12 weeks, like this idiot stated, only that utility companies have the right to inspect every 2 years.

500smiles · 13/05/2014 19:24

Oh dear Saxonlad what a very elaborate and public way to get sacked Grin
