Especially when most working people couldn't never afford to live somewhere costing that much?

No it bloody well didn't happen to me Amberleaf because 1) You have NO idea if this woman was raped anyway and 2) I raise my children to respect themselves, have ambition, drive and aspirations way above getting up the duff before they're old enough to vote.

gordyslovesheep · 19/02/2013 19:24

hahaha I LOVE the horse Grin her money - her choice

usualsuspect · 19/02/2013 19:25

I'm surprised the DM didn't pick up on the omg she has a horse angle. They missed a trick there.

Auntmaud · 19/02/2013 19:25

isit I was being a just a teensy bit tongue dans cheek ;)

I have horses, quite a few actually and they cost a packet to keep.

AmberLeaf · 19/02/2013 19:26

Who is saying its acceptable?

It is done now and her children shouldn't have to pay for her mistakes.

gordyslovesheep · 19/02/2013 19:26

oh and I think a society that puts a huge amount of blame and shame on a CHILD that gets pregnant needs to take a good look at it's self

Ashoething · 19/02/2013 19:26

Its a good thing I dont like horses.

maisiejoe123 · 19/02/2013 19:26

Agree with AuntMaud. The do it because the consequences is that YOU do get more. And the connection between teen pregnancy rates in this country is that there will be people falling over themselves to help you. Just have a few choice phases to hand to make the bleeding hearts think you arent swinging the lead. Although whether I would put my body through 11 is another thing!

gordyslovesheep · 19/02/2013 19:27

maybe she keeps the horse to make into cheap mince?

TheFallenNinja · 19/02/2013 19:27

Good lord. Do we hate everyone on this country?

Is she irresponsible? Probably. Is she hard face? I suppose she has to be.

Does she deserve to be vilified by the press? No, of course not. She is daft, but she's our daft. This kind of reporting is reckless and malicious and had anyone had the cojones to seriously sort the arrogant press out this would not be allowed.

Should she be forced to live on the streets in rags in a constant state of apology? I don't think so.

Ashoething · 19/02/2013 19:27

Having a baby at 13 is a very sad thing. Continuing to then have more kids to various fathers is NOT sad-its selfish and feckless.

seeker · 19/02/2013 19:27

There are no circumstances in which a 22 year old having sex with a 12 year old is not rape.

As you would all be saying if the 12 year old was a nice middle class girl..

Auntmaud · 19/02/2013 19:28

Except, of course gordy it isn;t actually HER money, is it?

And, if you could just join us in the real world for one moment please, do you genuinely see nothing wrong with a woman who lives off others hard work owning a horse and keeping one when the vast majority of those whose taxes she bludges lives off could never afford one?

AmberLeaf · 19/02/2013 19:28

No it bloody well didn't happen to me Amberleaf because 1) You have NO idea if this woman was raped anyway and 2) I raise my children to respect themselves, have ambition, drive and aspirations way above getting up the duff before they're old enough to vote

A 12 yr old is too young to give consent. so yes that is rape.

Good for you that you raise your children like that, obviously something was amiss in this womans childhood.

olgaga · 19/02/2013 19:29

I don't give a damn about her, or her horse.

The only issue is that in a civilised society, we don't make children pay for their parents' poor judgement. Their welfare is paramount, and it in relation to their welfare that the Council has a statutory duty.

Nothing else has any relevance whatsoever.

There are plenty of "good enough" parents - many of them work, claim benefits too, make unwise decisions and spending choices.

They're a little too dull for the DM though.

gordyslovesheep · 19/02/2013 19:29

yes it IS her money - who's else is it Yours? is this back to the Victorian model of 'welfare' where people can have money but only if you can judge and control what they spend it one

she is LEGALLY entitled to claim - it is HER money

Ashoething · 19/02/2013 19:30

I had sex when I was 14 to a guy that was 21. I wasnt raped. Was it a good idea? probably not but at least I had the sense to go on the pill beforehand.

LtEveDallas · 19/02/2013 19:30

Her partners employer was on the local news so, yes, he works.

Auntmaud · 19/02/2013 19:31

Yes of course, those of us saying she shouldn't be housed in a huge free house or keep a horse are actually really wanting her in rags on teh street or workhouse.

Because, of course, there is no middle ground is there?

So say she was raped. She didn't have to have the baby. She didn't have to then keep the baby. And she sure as hell didn't have to go on to produce ten more!

landofsoapandglory · 19/02/2013 19:31

Where did you get that information from LTEve?

seeker · 19/02/2013 19:31

Oh, of course it's screwed up! She shouldn't have been raped at 12. Or if she had been she should have been properly looked after. The pqpers shouldn't have set her up to be vilified. She s shouldn't have had 10 children.

But the fact remains that she was, she wasn't, they did and she did. What do you suggest we do about it?

Ashoething · 19/02/2013 19:31

Her partner must earn a BOMB to afford to pay for all those kids? yes?

Angelfootprints · 19/02/2013 19:32

What I think many find appalling is her attitude NOW as a grown, presumably mature adult.

maisiejoe123 · 19/02/2013 19:33

Actually its our money, we are paying for her lifestyle choices horses and all.

And God knows what she is teaching her children and the example she is setting. Does any one really think she is encouraging them to gain an education and stand on their own two feet - honestly - anyone.... She has made the mistake of her life giving interviews to the papers and allowing herself to be photgraphed.

Ashoething · 19/02/2013 19:33

I suggest that we provide her with the what is nessacary to live-not what allows her to live a lifestyle that affords her a horse.
