I think the reason a lot of nicer men (not counting those with unfortunate issues, who are of course excused) wouldn't want to consider doing this in someone else's house is because they know on some level that it's territorial.

It is - seriously. I mean it doesn't have to mean that, but it is on some basic level a marking of territory. Just ask foxes, they won't come near your hens if your husband pisses round the perimeter. And just ask people whose EA ex partners come to their house, poo in their toilet, then take the kids for the weekend.

So there's more to it than just social horror.

Well I disagreewith tta ariel - I think some people do use it in that way though they probably aren't aware of doing so. Not on a conscious level.

We've recently had an extension built so loads of builders in and out the house, they would sheepishly come and ask to use the toilet, nice of them to ask but of course they can use the toilet, they are human beings and when you need you need. Would hate to think someone needed to go and didn't ask. I used to leave the door unlocked for them when I went out.

The Tesco delivery drivers even asked on occasion, it doesn't bother me, squirt of bleach and an antibacterial wipe job done, which I do every day with a toddler anyway.

My DH used to manage a hotel and seriously, you'd be surprised how many people poo in places other than the toilet. Poos in kettles, sinks, the bath, mugs, placed neatly atop the television, in the bed, in the bedside table. Anywhere really. Was a weekly thing, having to depoo a room. Hideous people.

I used to work in TK Maxx too whilst studying. People were always pooing in the changing room.

I had an extension last year and it involved moving some drains. I wanted a big poo one saturday morning, so thought i'd get on quick before the builders came. Was a nice big, squishy one. Went outside and the young builder guy was crouched over the open draincover, doing something i don't knwo what. He can't have missed it float past.

I didn't knwo whether to ignore it altogether or blame it on the kids.

I once had an ikea delivery. Guy was here for 5 mins max. Asked to use the loo and did a poo. I wasn't happy. If a workman is here for a job fine, but come on 5 mins! Then I have to have a strangers arse and stink in my bathroom. Not on.

I had to poo in a hay barn once. I had a horse that was kept at a place with no human facilities. Actually looking back I'm not sure why I didn't just go down to the far corner of the field...guess it was warmer. Anyhoo, I picked it up afterwards on a spadeful of hay and threw it over a wall.
