foxache · 15/02/2013 21:30

I felt so old when I read this, and am so glad not to be the only one speechless.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 15/02/2013 21:33

actaul LOLs are asseptable.

Punctuational LOLs are very unwelcome.

Capeesh?

I get it.

lol at what Chaos said = ok
I went to the shop yesterday, lol = not ok.

That's it isn't it? I think that's it.

thegreylady · 15/02/2013 21:36

Do you mean that lol is OK if we are inviting laughter but not just as a pause in a long post?

foxache · 15/02/2013 21:41

I see now thanks, what about when it's a verb or noun? 'I had great lolz'. 'Your post had me lolling'.

SomethingOnce · 15/02/2013 23:01

'asseptable'?

Are you Jo Frost?

BluelightsAndSirens · 15/02/2013 23:04

I've worried about this.

I've typed "I actually lol'd at chaos" but would never type "chaos you are well funny LOL"

It's all too much hard work.

ChesterCake · 15/02/2013 23:04

My Lolcano just exploded!
^ acceptable? Wink

larks35 · 15/02/2013 23:11

Lvq (laugh very quietly) that's my new tip, or maybe cab (chuckle a bit) or even stswl (snort then shake with laughter). It's the loudness that does my head in. It is a rare day that I actually lol.

BluelightsAndSirens · 15/02/2013 23:14

That s why Arf is acceptable.

Ginformation · 15/02/2013 23:14

But but LOL in general, not good taste, surely, unless one is a youngster.

I prefer 'ha ha ha'.

Endov.

INeedThatForkOff · 15/02/2013 23:17

I prefer :D to LOL, if that's what you mean.

WhatsTheBuzz · 15/02/2013 23:24

sorry, what exactly is wrong with 'lol'?

BluelightsAndSirens · 15/02/2013 23:26

Lol is something my DC type or say alng with kk for okay.

It's immature to say the least Wine

foxache · 15/02/2013 23:43

They don't seem to mind each others' bad spelling either, which is weird.

Pandemoniaa · 16/02/2013 00:09

I've a rabid intolerance for lolz. Wherever they appear. But as punctuation, they make me come over quite murderous.

BreconBeBuggered · 16/02/2013 00:21

I don't mind a proper capitalised LOL in the correct context, ie when I've said something huuugely witty. But as punctuation, dear God, get me a cheesegrater to push into the offender's face.

ripsishere · 16/02/2013 00:28

LOL is ridiculous. And juvenile. The end.

FruOla · 16/02/2013 08:21

LOL is fine if it's literally meant as a laugh out loud at something hilarious.

Otherwise it's utterly ridiculous. I got a text from a friend recently; she'd sent one text inviting us round for dinner soon, she then sent a second text saying something along the lines of "we're inviting Anne & Simon too lol". What's so funny about that?! (For background I might add that this friend, like us, is middle-aged!)

Cat98 · 16/02/2013 08:30

Lol

WhatsTheBuzz · 16/02/2013 09:04

can
someone please tell me how person who uses lol = immature?! that seems
as daft an assumption as mine that if you notice 'lol' that much, you're
spending too much time looking at your screen.
