So, fair enough, some people might want to see a photo of a door handle or tap Confused when browsing the internet for a new house. Example

But can anyone explain photo 13 of this one:
www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-22816623.html

I know Estate Agents have to portray a certain lifestyle, but really? Really?!

Haha I was just going to say 'I'm sold' until I actually looked again at picture 13, how very random!

MrsBW · 13/02/2013 20:15

Haha! We are in the process of buying a house and have seen a few like this: like a photo of a lake... 10 miles away!!

Why?

cocoachannel · 13/02/2013 20:16

Ha ha! So random.

PureQuintessence · 13/02/2013 20:16

Holy crap did you see picture 8 in that show home? WTF! Confused

HollyBerryBush · 13/02/2013 20:17

Lovely houses, but why do people persist in a 52" plasma on display.

declasse

daisydoodoo · 13/02/2013 20:17

Thats so funny! Its a lovely house if I had the money id buy it.

gordyslovesheep · 13/02/2013 20:18

£149K for 4 beds

VelvetSpoon · 13/02/2013 20:21

There's an estate agent in our area which has started including what they call 'internal lifestyle photos' in their details. Of taps, vases of flowers, all that shit.

Bloody ridiculous.

Another one includes a picture of the local meadows (massive open space, woodland, river etc) in the details of every sodding house they sell within about a mile radius. Oh, and a photo of the local station...no idea why!

babiesinslingsgetcoveredinfood · 13/02/2013 20:22

gordy that's what I thought!

YANBU I've seen loads of these, random close up,of banister, artist's impression of garden wtf?

Also, how minging is the big Marilyn wall?!?!

Mermaidspam · 13/02/2013 20:24

The latest round here is the weird soft-focus, instagram style pics, very odd.

Gordy - I know, that's why it's in my saved properties!

I saw a picture on Rightmove the other day which was someone's dog. Now, when I'm idly getting my fix of property porn it's quite common to spot pets on the periphery of photos ... maybe in the garden, or a cat asleep on a bed ... but this one was the dog filling the whole frame. You couldn't even tell what room it was in. Wish I could remember where it was to link it but I look at so many in the course of lining houses up to view when I win the lottery. Maybe it was included in the fixtures and fittings ? Confused

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 13/02/2013 20:36

I was thinking of buying that house until I got to picture 13, now I think I'll just buy some L'occitane soap instead.

PimpMyHippo · 13/02/2013 20:40

The TV is on in picture 7, I always think that ruins the photo a bit. Gorgeous house though!

MrsJamin · 13/02/2013 20:43

At least these places are tidy! There's some I've seen that have unmade beds, stuff strewn all over the kitchen worktops, etc. I just feel "Actually you don't look serious about wanting to move and are complacent that you'll sell your place without even tidying. I am not going to see it!"

Loie159 · 13/02/2013 20:44

I think it's the new "thing" they do in an effort to sell property as a lifestyle ...... Wholly unnecessary in my mind. But when I have sold houses before I have had so many people say things like -" I love your dining table" / " " oh I really like your bed" / " I don't like the colour of that wall". So based on that I am always surprised that people are impressed or dislike a house based on stuff that you can change in 30 minutes, or stuff which will be leaving with the owner. So maybe more people are swayed by lifestyling houses than we think !

SoSweetAndSoCold · 13/02/2013 20:46

The photo is labelled '5* cottages', so I assume it's to show what type of holiday business they run. Posh soap for posh guests. Slightly nauseating!

freddiefrog · 13/02/2013 20:48

I saw one a while ago with the owner of his country pile posing on his horse in the driveway - very odd, I'm sure he doesn't come with the house

Some friends moved to New Zealand a couple of years ago and every property they looked at online included a picture of an abandoned toilet dumped in the garden, we were beginning to wonder if it was a local custom Wink

NulliusInBlurba · 13/02/2013 20:48

I'd love to phone that EA and make a serious offer on the soap!

FlouncingMintyy · 13/02/2013 20:51

PMSL at bar of soap photo!

I have seen closeups of taps, mirrors, pets etc.

But BAR OF SOAP!

Heh heh heh heh heh.

quoteunquote · 13/02/2013 20:52

Maybe it was included in the fixtures and fittings ?

we often include livestock, ducks, chickens, geese and even a pair of swans,
resident feral cats, deer, sheep, goats, bats, fish and owls all have had mentions in particulars for properties I have been involved in for clients.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 13/02/2013 20:56

Well I was wondering whether that property was worth nearly 3 million but then I saw that picture and that like totally sold it to me Wink

MrsHuxtable · 13/02/2013 20:57

Shock at 149k for 4 bedrooms!!! Is this reality for some people?

catsmother · 13/02/2013 20:58

Oh yeah have seen plenty of ducks and geese if properties have ponds, lakes (!), front on to a river etc ..... like, "look at this rural idyll, these creatures are going to be your new neighbours and poop all over your lawn" type of thing but I really don't understand close ups of pets.

FlouncingMintyy · 13/02/2013 20:58

MrsJamin - its a bit daft to not view a property because it is untidy!
