To despair at EVER finding a bra that fits?!

So, I have read every website on the subject, been measured at Bravissimo, and STILL find every single bra uncomfortable - even the ones that Bravissimo said were the right size. I just want to rip the thing off as soon as I get in from work. They seem fine for about an hour, then start to dig in.

I find that they just 'curl up' at the back, and I get horrible back fat, or dig in at the side/arm pit, but mainly on just one side! The band never seems to sit flush to my side iyswim. I have tried going up a band and down a cup, down a band and up a cup etc, have tried every style going..........

I found when I wore my saggy old too big bras they gave me no shape or support, but my god they were comfy!

I think I am about a 36/38 E/F. I have ordered and sent back about ten bras this last month as they just all HURT.

So, AIBU to just let 'em all hang out and be pain-free??!!!!

I've done a couple of returns (I think you have to email them first before sending the bras back) and had no problems with my refund/exchange. They're very helpful. It might be worth emailing them anyway with your measurements and issues and see what they recommend.

Have you tried Bratabase? You might get some good recommendations on there for your shape/size.

I'll need to keep this thread on watch so I don't lose all these links. No time to shop this week, and not in for deliveries, but next week, I'm right on the case!

Zingy123 · 10/02/2013 11:39

I have worn the 42c I bought at asda for two days and am not loving it. It is a t-shirt style one. It gapes open at the top.

Anyone know where I can get either a 42b or 42c in a balconette style for a reasonable price.

Thanks

SorrelForbes · 10/02/2013 11:52

Zingy123 I don't get on with the moulded t-shirt styles either. I do own a Freya Deco but it gapes at the top.

Reporting in from fitting room Grin

Sorrell - thanks so much for the Cleo recommendation! Have one on and it feels amazing!

SilveryMoon · 10/02/2013 13:29

I just found an on-line calculator here which calculates I'm a 42B.
That's where I'm going wrong then, because I wear a 36E.
My measurements under 38 and over 43.
What size does that make me? Really a B?

AnyFucker · 10/02/2013 13:42

off your measurements you should be a 38DD, SM

AnyFucker · 10/02/2013 13:43

those cleo bras look so pretty

not like some of the monstrosities that have been linked on this thread Smile

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/02/2013 13:43

SilveryMoon, almost all online calcs are nonsense. Anyfucker is correct which that as a start pooint but if the 36 feels right then the e or an f cup would work.

SilveryMoon · 10/02/2013 13:44

Thanks AF I thought it was something like that.
Really need to get some new bras. Every place I get measured come up with something different.

AnyFucker · 10/02/2013 13:48

this is lovely

Has anyone mentioned Lepel bras yet ? Any ideas how the size comes up ?

SorrelForbes · 10/02/2013 14:31

I like the Lepel Fiore balcony bra. Sizing seemed fairly standard.

AnyFucker · 10/02/2013 14:37

some Lepel bikinis/cossies on sale at BraStop too Smile

SorrelForbes · 10/02/2013 14:46

Ooh, I need a new bikini for my hols at Easter.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 10/02/2013 15:30

A successful trip!

3 bras, 2 Cleo and a Bravissimo Paradiso Plume which is fabulously uplifting and gives me a lovely shape. I think I actually look younger with pert boobs up near my chin rather than heading south!

I'm going to be brave and ditch everything else from my underwear drawer.

AnyFucker · 10/02/2013 15:45

I forget to tell you bradudes about my "overheard conversation" in the lingerie changing rooms in John Lewis yesterday.

There was a young woman in the next cubicle trying on bras for what I think was her wedding day. She had her mum and a couple of other slim young things with her. I heard her telling them about the argument she had with a Marks and Spencers bra fitter who had tried to tell her she was a 36B. She then subsequently discovered she was a 30DD.

Yuo really start to "hear" this commentary when you see the light, don't you ? Smile (I wouldn't have taken any notice at all about this convo a while back)

ihearsounds · 10/02/2013 15:56

Ahh dammit, why didn't I read this thread first. Would have saved time yesterday, and would have avoided m&s. Although luckily I didn't buy anything as everything was uncomfortable, with stuff digging in, terribly hunched over, or stuff riding up.

M&S person said I was a 40c. Which from reading this, I don't think so. I know my bras are wrong at the moment because I have lost weight, yay, from my back but boobs seem to have grown more. Confused

Anyway can you lovely ladies help me. My back is 36.5, boob is 45. As measured by me, not m&s lady who gave me 39 and 42.

AnyFucker · 10/02/2013 15:57

36GG. Blimey. Smile

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 10/02/2013 15:58

ihear - I would start with a 36G, but also try 34GG/H, 36GG.

SilveryMoon · 10/02/2013 16:00

I was measured in M&S a while back as a 40F. It was very clear that was just wrong.
I went to LaSenza (I know, but it was next door) and they measured me as a 36B. Wrong again!
I would like to go and get measured somewhere. Might try Debenhams next.

ihearsounds · 10/02/2013 16:01

Blimey. Shock Thankyou.

ComeAlongPond · 10/02/2013 16:36

Thank you sorrel, I will send an email! Does it take long for them to arrive from EM - they're in Poland, aren't they?

ComeAlongPond · 10/02/2013 17:05

Oh, and if I have a 30 instead of a 28, do I need to change cup sizes or just get a 30D?

SorrelForbes · 10/02/2013 18:41

Yes, they're in Poland. IIRC the last order took about a week to arrive.

If you're sizing up to a 30 because EM come up a little small in the band then you probably do need to size down in the cup to get the same volume. Again, it's probably worth asking when you email them. It's also going to depend on which style you choose.

SorrelForbes · 10/02/2013 18:41

Alibabaandthe40nappies Hurray! Do it, throw everything out (donate to Oxfam or ebay them if in good nick).
