To despair at EVER finding a bra that fits?!

So, I have read every website on the subject, been measured at Bravissimo, and STILL find every single bra uncomfortable - even the ones that Bravissimo said were the right size. I just want to rip the thing off as soon as I get in from work. They seem fine for about an hour, then start to dig in.

I find that they just 'curl up' at the back, and I get horrible back fat, or dig in at the side/arm pit, but mainly on just one side! The band never seems to sit flush to my side iyswim. I have tried going up a band and down a cup, down a band and up a cup etc, have tried every style going..........

I found when I wore my saggy old too big bras they gave me no shape or support, but my god they were comfy!

I think I am about a 36/38 E/F. I have ordered and sent back about ten bras this last month as they just all HURT.

So, AIBU to just let 'em all hang out and be pain-free??!!!!

I've just tried putting my measurements into 2 different online calculators & got 38B & 36E...go figure Confused

HazleNutt · 07/02/2013 10:46

Step away from calculators! They are wrong, all wrong!

AmazingDisgrace · 07/02/2013 10:47

Hi Cheddar..33 under 40 over

MrsHelsBels74 · 07/02/2013 10:49

Thank you Doctrine. I think I might call Bravissimo & see what they think. I may be having a child free afternoon today so a trip into town could be viable. I have a Belvia bra & it's comfy but not overly supportive & would like to show my norks off properly!Grin

soaccidentprone · 07/02/2013 10:49

someone asked earlier in the thread about a 28?

Freya start at a 28

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 07/02/2013 10:53

Amazing, try 32EE or 32F and see how you get on!

CelticPromise · 07/02/2013 10:54

Amazing I'd start with 32FF.

Oh, couldn't resist the online calculators, sorry. Tried three - been a 38DD, a 34E and now a 34J!!

AmazingDisgrace · 07/02/2013 10:59

Thanks Celtic. Yikes FF

AmazingDisgrace · 07/02/2013 11:01

Thanks Cheddar too...I'll try all of those

AngelAtTheTopOfTheTree · 07/02/2013 11:06

Oh God I thought it was just me that had issues with bras!!!!!!

Zingy123 · 07/02/2013 11:09

I've been this morning and tried loads on and a 42C seems to be fitting the best. Have bought one for only £4 so am going to see how I get on with it. Thanks for all the advice

VenusRising · 07/02/2013 11:13

I think you have to go to one of the most unfashionable department stores, and call up the spirit of the elderly woman in the underwear department.

Seriously, I went to the oldest department store, and had two old lady's who worked there size me up for a very comfy bra- a Doreen triumph.
I know it looks industrial, but I'm strapped down and uplifted in a Brigit Jones was that's surprisingly comfortable.

I then went onto figleaves and bought loads more bras in my new size and they are also comfy. Fantasie and Sophia are great for me too.

VenusRising · 07/02/2013 11:14

Yes, I was wearing a 36d and now wear a 32g or a 34ff.
Those old biddies know a thing or two!

MrsHelsBels74 · 07/02/2013 11:24

I've found a shop about 25 miles away from me that won an award from 'lingerie buyer' magazine so they might be worth a trip.

CelticPromise · 07/02/2013 11:27

Angel what size are you wearing? What are your measurements?

AngelAtTheTopOfTheTree · 07/02/2013 11:39

I'm wearing 36D. Going to measure these monsters just now to see where I'm at. I hate my boobs. =(

AngelAtTheTopOfTheTree · 07/02/2013 11:52

Under is 36"
Over boobs is almost 42"

So am I a 36E?

Good heavens.

soaccidentprone · 07/02/2013 11:55

and please don't just throw your old bra's away, oxfam accept them, and send them to developing countries.

CelticPromise · 07/02/2013 11:56

I would start with a 36E. Did you measure under pulled tight and over a bit looser at the fullest point? Is your current 36 band comfortable (never mind the cups) and firm?

Try 36E in some different styles. I used to hate my boobs, getting the right size and the right bras changed my life.

LadyBigtoes · 07/02/2013 12:02

Sorry haven't red whole thread, but try these for support and comfort wondrousness:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004I49D7U/ref=asc_df_B004I49D7U11831746/?tag=googlecouk06-21&creative=22134&creativeASIN=B004I49D7U&linkCode=asn

They also come in other colours. Although it is a nursing bra, it comes with a kit that easily converts it into a normal bra. I started using these when PG and have never come out of them.

LadyBigtoes · 07/02/2013 12:02

Oh arse

here

AngelAtTheTopOfTheTree · 07/02/2013 12:04

Thank you Celtic. You're v kind to help - much appreciated! The 36 band is tight and comfy on the third setting - bra is a few months old. I will try some E cups.
The trouble I have is that my boobs tend to go gradually outwards - as if they are trying to hide under my arms. I'm a UK 12 so not huuuuge. They are definitely bottom heavy and together look like a 'v' when I look at them from above. Hate hate hate them. They have made me cry so many times but my man LOVES them! We're never happy with what we have....haha

Thanks again for your help and to Sorrell etc - really nice of you all to help.

CelticPromise · 07/02/2013 12:21

Listen to your man Wink

They sound a bit like mine in shape. I like a balconette bra, they escape from a plunge, and I don't find moulded/padded much good.

Whe you say the third setting do you mean the tightest? A new bra should be firm on the loosest setting to allow it to stretch as it gets older. If you are only a 12 maybe try a 34F/FF as well just to see? I'm a size 16 and wear a 32 back. We are all different shapes of course but might be worth a try! It sounds like the band might be a bit loose if your boobs are not getting rounded up and pointed in the right direction.

Good luck!
