I especially love the 'future weddings' comment

she made a sex tape which she sold and made money from - makes her a porn star in my book

CheCazzo · 26/01/2013 11:43

I just think it is awful that a company may feel that it is OK to personally attack you because you are not their kind of people

I expect they think it's awful that a two bit professional tramp can rubbish them in the national press in a way that given her previous form was probably lies. Should they have no right of reply? And I suspect that if she had kept her mouth shut and stopped her gums from flapping they would certainly not have made comment on whether she was their 'type of person' at all.

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 26/01/2013 12:04

so those saying this thread is nasty and bitchy.

It isn't an innocent little 'lady' being discussed here.

It is somebody who's entire career is based on good and bad publicity and publicly flaunting her tits, arse, pout, general pointlessness, endless marriages and her family life. It is somebody who went all out to complain publicly about a bad service, what did she expect? Them to bow to the greatness that is Katie Price? Or to defend themselves?

She put herself in the public eye, she flashes her tits and arse constantly - yet because she's a woman and we are women we are supposed to pat her on the back and say 'you are flying the flag for feminism' and 'we support you'?

Or, we can all have our opinions of her and share them when there is cause to (as there is in this instance). Love her or hate her, she isn't to be protected from comments.

It's not as though this thread was started just for the sake of it, she commented in a public newspaper and gobbed off - she opened herself up to criticism IMO.

There are plenty of 'celebs' that I can't bear, she tops the list because she is vile and I have yet to see/read/hear of any redeeming quality she possesses. Oh wait - she's a really canny business woman apparently Hmm

it is rare I comment on such threads (read them of course) but gah this woman makes my skin crawl

thebody · 26/01/2013 12:07

It's the funniest and rudest statement I have ever read.

Good on them. She trashed them first and she got both barrels.

Serve her right.

Arisbottle · 26/01/2013 12:09

If a company ruined my wedding and I had a public forum I would use it to complain. Mumsnetters use this public forum to complain about companies all the time. Does that mean that companies are able to make rude, personal and s snobby attacks on us?

I don't think you have a license to be personally rude about anyone , even if you don't agree with their life choices. Snobbery is always wrong .

GW297 · 26/01/2013 12:10

This has made my day! Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Arisbottle · 26/01/2013 12:12

No it is not because she is a woman but because she is a human being, I can't see why you want to be personally rude about anyone who has not caused real harm.

As a feminist I loathe all that Katie Price stands for , I can separate that from gleefully making cruel, snobby comments about her. In a similar manner I cannot stand what the Duchess of Cambridge stands for , I may attack that but not the actual person .

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 26/01/2013 12:13

They wouldn't have had cause to comment on her lifestyle, had she not been rude about them in a national newspaper.

A 'celeb' commenting in a newspaper as widely read as The Sun, versus a MNer complaining on a forum - vastly different impact on potential sales (although had the MNer given KP's evidence, they potentially would have got a resounding YABU in relation to her complaints of lack of privacy).

I reckon they're as bad as each other - I have no desire to go on a Sandals holiday, have always thought of them as 18-30 fodder (never really paid that much attention though)

If you are a disgruntled customer, you have a right to complain. As the company at the receiving end, you have a right to reply. They didn't have to be rude, but she was and very publicly and I don't blame them for giving it to her both barrels. She has far too high an opinion of her 'fame' and other's perception of how amazing she is.

Arisbottle · 26/01/2013 12:16

Which has the wider readership, the Sun or MN? i genuinely do not know. Is there a cut off point of the number of people who can read your complaint before that opens you up to personal attacks.

I have no issue with the company defending themselves , it was the personal dig they made.

LadyBeagleEyes · 26/01/2013 12:17

I can't believe they refunded her, for such paltry complaints.
She's got millions in the bank.
Greedy cow.

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 26/01/2013 12:17

As a feminist I loathe all that Katie Price stands for , I can separate that from gleefully making cruel, snobby comments about her. In a similar manner I cannot stand what the Duchess of Cambridge stands for , I may attack that but not the actual person .

The way she rams her lifestyle down the media's throat (media more than happy to have this happen of course) is why I don't see a problem with people making cruel (i don' think they are cruel, most of it is light hearted), snobby comments - she isn't an innocent. The persona she gives so much air time to, is what is being attacked surely? Couldn't care less if she is a celibate nun behind the cameras. The behind the cameras KP isn't what is being commented on.

Jeez, why am I allowing this 'celeb' head space? because otherwise I'd have to do some housework Grin

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 26/01/2013 12:19

Which has the wider readership, the Sun or MN? i genuinely do not know. probably much of a muchness? However, one thread on MN from a disgrunteld customer may only get 100 replies (ok, there are some that get less and some more) with maybe 500 lurked views (possibly more?) So in that aspect, it isn't comparable.

Unless of course the complaint is deemed worthy enough of a campaign/gets media coverage - at which point the Power of Mumsnet kicks The Sun's ass Wink

Arisbottle · 26/01/2013 12:20

I often feel like the Duchess of Cambridge is forcing her lifestyle down my throat, she certainly dominates the same media outlets that KP does.

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 26/01/2013 12:23

I've no interest in the DoC, other than a passing interest in what's occuring in the country (and yes, I did pay attention to their wedding but it was a historical event n all that)

I've little interest in most things that I am supposed to have interest in (according to the likes of Heat, OK! and other such shite Wink) I do like to learn that other people are also as uninterested as me, makes me feel less alone Grin

Nancy66 · 26/01/2013 12:26

MN's readership is a drop in the ocean compared to The Sun!

The Sun sells just under 3million copies a day - with about 6 million people reading the paper on a daily basis not to mention the millions more who read the website

AKissIsNotAContract · 26/01/2013 12:27

I'm surprised she went to Sandals. With her money you'd think she could afford somewhere better than fucking Sandals.

Flossiechops · 26/01/2013 12:31

meddie · 26/01/2013 12:33

It made me chuckle.

Nancy66 · 26/01/2013 12:37

Akiss - an upmarket resort wouldn't have wanted her though.

Arisbottle · 26/01/2013 12:39

Thanks Nancy, I genuinely didn't know. Do many sun reader buy overpriced sandals holidays?

Although I am not a sandals holidays type person I suspect we may be the income bracket. I had not heard of the complaint by Katie Price until I read the thread in here. The company must have known that they were raising the profile of this complaint by making such a personal attack on Katie Price. So they are ridiculing a woman not to defend them selves but to create publicity. Not very nice IMO.

AKissIsNotAContract · 26/01/2013 12:42

'Akiss - an upmarket resort wouldn't have wanted her though.'

Really? On what basis can an upmarket resort turn someone away? Especially as they claim not to have heard of her fame.

Arisbottle · 26/01/2013 12:43

I find it repulsive that a holiday resort would turn someone down on the basis they they might not be good enough.

I have a fair bit if cash but am very common , can I have a list of places what will turn me away? Will save both of us any embarrassment .

Nancy66 · 26/01/2013 12:47

I can't imagine KP simply booked with Sandals and turned up without there having been some nogotiation about discount, publicity, photography etc.

I know some London hotels refuse to accept certain celebrity guests if they think it will negatively impact on their other guests.

manicbmc · 26/01/2013 12:48

She ruined her own wedding by refusing their offer of a private island for the ceremony and instead choosing to have it on a public beach where the paps were. Then she has the brass neck to complain.

She is a silly woman.
