My midwife said to open my iccle legs when I was in labour. She was lucky to survive tbh.

Ikkle is just the absolute pits. I have one particular friend who aways refers to her kids as ikkles.....I pull her up on it every time :)

My particular dislike is people who say 'Arksed' instead of 'Asked'. I hear it more and more often; most annoying.

Also, someone I used to work with would say 'Mort-gauge' instead of 'Mortgage'.

Hospickle, Likkle, Lellow - hate it, hate it so much. Almost forgiveable if you are 7 or younger.

I know a few kids who have had endless speech therapy, when it came to light that they say these words as they do because their mother is a dimwit who talks in baby-speak to them.

Arks is the Jamaican way of saying ask.

And likkle is Jamaican patois for little.

So maybe your HV is from there? (You say you've never met her).

What makes me laugh about most of the people I know who say 'arks' is that they've never been outside of England...so it's not as though it's a phrase they were used to saying all their lives.

Ickle is vile but a mom at our school calls her dds bubbas.. They are a well grown 7 and 9. Want to spit at her.

My husband is Jamaican and it winds him up too. She wasnt using any other patois, so I doubt she is Jamaican but will let you know if she does indeed turn out to be!
