....to be even more irritated by the fact that the person who was just saying it was my Health Visitor?!

I have never met her, managed to dodge that bullet for 2 years :o But on the phone she says this and REALLY annoys me!

I am probably BU but it really winds me up!

My 70 year old uncle made me cringe when he kept asking my DC if they liked "pittsa". He meant "pizza" of course, but the DC were totally flummoxedGrin

'hollibobs' makes me want to kill the person
Also 'brufin' instead of ibuprofen - wtaf?
And saying 'are you going the gym' for example instead of going TO a place..
I know these sort of threads get done a lot but I do like them :)

Brufin in the generic name for ibuprofen

Brufen is a brand name for ibuprofen and the name it was first marketed under in this country (and is prescription only) - Ibuprofen is the generic name.

Bottom line is anyone who comes out with likkle etc is v ignorant. So obv if a health visitor etc then probably ignorable. Harsh but not unreasonable.

I had a phone conversation once with someone I'd met online.

He said 'lickle' at one point and all I could think was how quickly I could get off the phone.

Then he said 'bickie' (couldn't shut him up) and I was clenching everything.

Then he said, "You make me chuckle" and I slammed the phone down.

I knew the Brufen one, its the name that medical staff use.

But what the buggerybollocks is Holibobs?! I have no idea what that is and cant guess either!

alcon so I AINBU to think worse of her for saying it? Assuming that she isnt using Patois, which I know and is quite hard to understand if you dont know it.

Ugh when I was on the postnatal ward DP pointed out that 2 of the other mums said bokkle. He then fucked off home and I had to spend the next 2 days getting more and more irrationally angry listening to it!

Lil. I hate it. On FB my brother-in-law's idiot sister uses it all the time as in 'having coffee with my lil man'. I hate it. I want to batter her.

I would have to seriously maim anyone who ever said, 'Whatever' to me in a dismissive tone of voice.

And I had a friend who was always showing me things she'd bought from Dorothy Perkins and saying, 'I picked it up in Dotty Ps'. Which set my teeth on edge.

Same friend says, 'Oh I know, babes!' to me in a serious tone of voice and I loathe it.
