I get it, it's going to snow.

There will probably be a bit of snow for a few days round here.

I spent the best part of an hour queuing in Sainsburys seething quietly and politely waiting my turn to pay to do my normal weekly shop.

FFS it's some slightly bad seasonal weather, NO ONE can eat THAT many tins of muligtawny soup.

They should have their own queue then they can all stand together with thier blitz like behaviour and their preparedness and not get in my friffing way when I have other things to do like come here to whine about them

They have just put up a notice in my local Sainsbury's saying Mulligatawney soup is now being rationed to two tins per family

I second the Panic Checkout idea. Staff could wear a hat with a head-torch on it and hand out a candle and a box of matches for each panic shop.

I don't drink milk or eat bread, but I did buy two packs of bacon (actually, they were on a BOGOF).

I popped into Asda at lunchtime and it was bizarrely busy - this must be why.

I don't normally shop in there so I have nothing to compare it to!

I have got a Waitrose order coming at 9am tomorrow morning. Having just seen the weather forecast I am not sure I rate my chances...

In one report I've just read that as well as 30 hours of snow, London will be battered by 23mph winds. I'm no expert, but 23mph doesn't sound like a very battering type of wind to me. Can't help thinking there is a bit of media hyperbole going on!

All the bread was sold out in town centre in Ellesmere by 3pm but Teso was ok-I think everyone had gone home to batten down the hatches :)
We did see a few flakes as we drove home.Is more forecast [N.Shropshire]?

It wasn't too silly in Waitrose but there were an awful lot of elderly ladies staggering under the weight of white sliced bread for all that. What do they plan to do with it?

Although I have just realised that I failed to panic buy Ambrosia Rice Pudding. Which doesn't necessarily get eaten in times of great snowfall but is a comfort to have.

I am wondering whether I should be panic buying.
I do have a bottle of Asti and 2 bottles of dodgey looking mulled wine (left over Christmas gifts).
Dh has eaten all the cream of tomato and I would have to be desparate to try mulligatawny soup.

Bugsy- I have to agree about the 23mph wind. Now a 70mph wind sounds more like the type to give you a serious battering.
(We are used to a strong breeze around these parts.)

I checked the weather forecast at the weekend and decided to do an online shop (normal size weekly stuff) incase I ended up like last time it snowed. Last time I went to do my normal shop and there wasn't a taxi to be had (too much to carry) and so dp had to come and help me lug it all home.

Other than a bread and milk top up on Monday, we are sorted for food. I have bought no more than usual and there is plenty of wine and leftover Christmas booze to see us through a bad spell of weather.

I can't stand the panic buyers. Don't they realise how stupid they look to everyone else?

Wales has a RED snow warning (very rare apparently) So if you are in Wales you must go buy bread, milk, and toilet paper RIGHT NOW

I don't think people are panic buying, from what I've seen working today (busy cafe, next to Asda, sainsbury's, Iceland etc)... It's been people buying today because of the busses not running, buying for there elderly relatives, etc...

So to me it makes sense.

I was so determined not to panic buy that we will now starve. Especially if the devastation currently witnessed in London is anything to go by.

Although, saying that, I have checked that my parents have essentials as I can't bear the thought of v.elderly step-dad feeling that he has to go to shops and pick something up. I will also keep an eye on 90 year-old neighbour in case she needs anything.
