While I'm sure there are incontinent men, it's actually quite common in women of a certain age/who have had children.

I'd say a fair percentage of us here on mumsnet may pee when they sneeze or don't handle star jumps as well as they used to.

this would be demeaning for men since they are generally expected to be clothed and are not there to provide amusement by virtue of their clothing, bodies or a combo of both. that kind of shit is dehumanising and far better suited to women

i like your explanation chilbi. i couldn't imagine it would go down to well with their target market having a man stumbling and getting his trousers caught in a car door and flashing his boxers. people would quite rightly say "there really is no need to show his boxers in order to sell this stuff" but fine for women

From personal experience (ill dad) men do have incontinence pads, but I've never ever seen branded ones. The big Boots in our city has About 2 packs of each size of mens disposable nappy type underwear and about 4 packs of incontinence pads. For women, there are shelves filled with pads and disposable underwear. Judging by that, one can assume men don't usually have bad incontinence problems like women do.

If babies have different nappies for boys and girls because they pee in different places then presumably men with incontinence should have their own solution?

fake i'd say that's more to do with what damemargo was talking about. women are more likely to buy and shop around, try out different products. men more likely to pick the first product they see that appiles to their condition and stick with it. i am aware this is generalising. but i'd say marketing plays much more of a factor in what's on the shelves than demand. plus women wear lots of different styles of knickers so need different shapes of pads. liek the endless styles of sanitary towels.

It pisses me off, because there is a perfectly good, low risk operation called a TVT you can have on the NHS, rather than those products, yet they market them like there is nothing else. I had the op last January and hardly a drop has passed my lips since IYSWIM . I would recommend it anyway.
