To call this man a wanker

Geekster · 10/01/2013 18:30

While out with my DD in her pushchair this morning this idiot had parked his van all the way across the pavement, despite it being a wide road and plenty of room for parking on it. As I went past on the road he was stood in the garden of this house so i shouted nice blocking of the pavement you wanker as I walked past. Didn't bother to wait for any reply was in such a foul mood at the time I might have said much worse. I wish they made pushchairs with spikes that came out of the wheels to scratch these stupid people's vehicles on the way past (not that I ever actually would).

YABU. There was no need to be so rude. Maybe you could have asked nicely and he would have moved it.

FutTheShuckUp · 10/01/2013 18:32

Mature

manicbmc · 10/01/2013 18:33

He shouldn't have been illegally parked there in the first place.

There used to be a bloke did this regularly so I had to push my double buggy out into a busy road to get passed. It is annoying, illegal and dangerous.

TandB · 10/01/2013 18:33

Wouldn't it have been better to say "excuse me, do you realise you're blocking the pavement?" Confused

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 10/01/2013 18:34

I would have thought it, probably not said it out loud though!

I just think sometimes situations can be made into something they don't have to be by the use of a misplaced swear word.

It took me a while to figure this out Blush

Geekster · 10/01/2013 18:35

I might normally have asked them to move it but I was in a foul mood this morning and there was no need for him to block the entire pavement off. It is one of my few bugbears and I'm probably not that reasonable round it.

What kungfupannda said.

If he had then been rude to you, you would not have BU to call him a wanky-wanker Wink

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 10/01/2013 18:36

Sort of Boudicca's war chariot style?!
(pause for thought).
You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Gumby · 10/01/2013 18:36

Not on to swear in front of your kid surely

Geekster · 10/01/2013 18:37

I don't normally say anything I must admit just think it, it was just the final straw on one of those weeks. Wrong place at the wrong time.

OP posts:
CloudsAndTrees · 10/01/2013 18:37

You were very rude, and what you did was way worse than what he did.

Nancy66 · 10/01/2013 18:38

'wanker' sounds almost retro now as you don't seem to hear it very much.

I feel all nostalgic.

YorkshireDeb · 10/01/2013 18:38

I agree he was in the wrong but calling him a wanker will probably be less likely to make his change his parking in future than if you'd pointed out to him that it wasn't a very considerate thing to do. X

manicbmc · 10/01/2013 18:38

The kind of person to park so inconsiderately usually wouldn't be open to reasonable chat anyway, in my experience.

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 10/01/2013 18:39

I am reading the word 'wanker' but in my head I am adopting a faux-cockney accent and it is coming out as 'wankaaaahhh'

Nancy66 · 10/01/2013 18:40

...did you do the hand gesture too Geekster?

Geekster · 10/01/2013 18:43

No didn't use any hand gestures, just rude word, admit I was being unreasonable and shouldn't have sworn in front of DD. I'm not normally like that it just came out.

OP posts:
KenLeeeeeee · 10/01/2013 18:45

YWBU and rude, but you've acknowledged that anyway.

PickledInAPearTree · 10/01/2013 18:45

Yes! He could have just been loading something up for all you know.

You should have called him a silly sausage.

Case of "pram raaaaage"

Pigsmummy · 10/01/2013 18:46

Will you be happy when your DC uses such a word?

StinkyWicket · 10/01/2013 18:47

Well, I don't think YABU!

Havehad to push my babies into the road as I can't get past many times before.

All those saying it is worse to be rude than someone doing something illegal, have you considered what would happen if she was walking past the van in the road and was mown down by another car? And also, what person doesn't realise they're blocking the pavement when parking on it? Are they that stupid?

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 10/01/2013 18:47

You could have done a Mumsnet type question:

"Did you mean to park like an inconsiderate cunt?"

Gumby · 10/01/2013 18:47

Aw you've admitted you were unreasonable Flowers

Locketjuice · 10/01/2013 18:47

I agree, pisses me off down my road wankas like him self parking meaning my buggy can't get through so I either have to cross the road or walk on it both a pain and not needed if people weren't so inconsiderate!

Gumby · 10/01/2013 18:49

Stinkywicket

Yes but you can just say 'oy matey your car here is in the way'

By calling someone wanker is being antagonistic
What if he'd clocked her one in front if her dc too
