To just give up, sleep on the floor and let the dog have the bed

She manages to plant herself right in the middle of the bed, no matter how often I move her.

Sometimes I wake with 2 kids and a dog taking up all the space while I cling to the side of the mattress, my arse a block of ice.

Sleep on the sofa, it is only right.

My dog used to do the same and I'd find myself in some very strange positions in the morning

Yes, I have to do a convoluted manoeuvre to get out of bed cause she lies between my legs.

My dog does this

He soon learnt that he's not welcome on my side of the bed and that DH is a pushover who will gladly sleep curled up in a ball so that the dog can 'starfish' on his side.

But when DH is on night shift, the dog thinks his rightful fucking place is by my side on DH's pillow

Ha. DH works in Munich at the moment so his side of the bed is free. God only knows why she doesn't sleep there. Maybe I should shift to his side.

It's bad enough sharing a bed with a person!

I am a wimp. When we got her she was just a tiny bundle of fur. She slept on the floor at first.

She's not long had a really short haircut and shivers - I think she likes being snuggled up with me at the moment.

If we locked him out of the bedroom, he'd scratch at the kid's doors all night and keep them awake.

If we locked him in our tiny kitchen, he'd cause his paws to bleed by scratching the door all night.

Plus my DH is as soft as shit when it comes to animals and would sit up all night worrying whether the dog was warm and comfy

I was determined when we got our puppy in July that she would not be sleeping on the bed. This worked really well until my only moderately keen DP got totally suckered in by those big brown eyes and started putting her on the bed once I was asleep. I had trained her! She was happy to sleep next to the bed in hers! Could have killed him.

Obviously all was lost once she learnt to jump up herself. Now she thinks her rightful place is any position inbetween me and DP. She is obsessed with him.

Aww! I used to love my dog sleeping on my bed! He was little though. I want another dog now!

When we got her, Alis, my DH was adamant.

She is not sleeping upstairs.

Ok. Upstairs. But not in the bedroom.

Ok. In the bedroom. But not on the bed.

When he is here, she cuddles up to him, spoons fashion. And she gets longer backrubs than I do.

Mme men are such suckers! Glad it's not just mine who went from "yeah she's sweet" to "OMG I LOVE HER".

Mine went from 'hmm. Not sure about getting a dog but if you want her the you'll be taking care of her' to 'where's daddy's little girlie?'

YES! Exactly that! Took me 2 years of begging,whining and wheedling before he agreed. Two weeks later we'd rehomed puppy. It's all "daddy's little girl" now!

She's absolutely lovely though,couldn't ask for a sweeter natured puppy. She's a jack Russell but rarely barks,is really laid back. Handy as he'd never owned a dog before. I think a live wire would have been a shock to the system for him!

I just wish she didn't feel the need to sleep inbetween us!

I had the exact same problem, except mine's a Labrador! He refused to sleep on any kind of dog bed, eventually we got him a big squashy duvet of his own for the floor which he actually sleeps on for most of the night until bloody DH encourages him up for cuddles at 5am

Mine is working his way upstairs but he's not allowed but OH isn't protesting too much. I reckon he'll be on the bed in a matter of weeks

My dog sleeps in the kitchen so no bed sharing issues but my DH has also gone from 'you want a dog you look after it' to coming home from work saying 'hello gorgeous' - and he is not talking to me!

Ha ha , we have done beds in the bedroom to then shutting them downstairs at night but allowing them half an hours bed cuddle time- fatal mistake as I am now awoken at five thirty each morning. I am off ill at the moment and have one snuggled either side snoring away as I type!

My dog sleeps in bed with me but insists on under the duvet head on pillow.
This was a big disaster with the ex as pickles dog broke the door upon being locked out whilst we had sex (v protective of me) and if he stayed in the room practiced doing the deed with the exes pillow
Talk about ruined sex life no wonder I only had sex twice last year and can remember the dates Picklesdog was at the vets both times!

My girl is nearly 2 and we've only just, past couple of nights, banished her from our bed. We've made her a cosy bed of a quilt and pillow (with our smells on, by laying her pillowcase in our bed on first morning). First night was a pain with her woofing to get up every hour or so but since then it's not been bad. It means she doesn't expect to be allowed on the sofa either - I think you need to do all or nothing or they get confused.

Ours has a basket with duvet in the kitchen. We have recently evicted the cat from our room at night because he was waking me up too! animals are worse than kids

It's because she's a little one she just about gets away with it. If she were a Great Dane or a Bernese mountain dog there is no way you would allow it.
I conclude you secretly love it or you would do something about it

I share my double bed with a Lab and a rottie there is nothing better than waking up with a 50kg rottie using your head as a pillow . At the moment it's just me as my dp has moved in with his mum and dad whole different thread so there is plenty of room. I love waking up with puppy hugs I really am that sad

my dog has his own double bed so i dont have this problem, my issue is having to fight him for the remote control when i want to watch eastenders though
