AIBU?

To just give up, sleep on the floor and let the dog have the bed

She manages to plant herself right in the middle of the bed, no matter how often I move her.

Sometimes I wake with 2 kids and a dog taking up all the space while I cling to the side of the mattress, my arse a block of ice.

Our little Border likes the company upstairs at night. We have to leave the bedroom doors ajar as she wanders around deciding where to sleep - otherwise, obviously, she wakes us up scratching.

She has a bed in DS2's room but always bashes our door open at some point, hoping to find a comfy cushion left on the floor.

Sweetly, when I was bed-ridden and pretty much out of it recently after an op, she jumped on the bed with me for the first couple of mornings. Only just occured to me she hasn't done it since as she knows it's naughty.

Pickles, that made me laugh! Grin

Is it just me that thinks pets in the bedrooms is a bit icky then? All that fur and slobber. Eugh.

Seriously, he ruined my sex life.

Now I'm on my own I'm sure he thinks he's my DP, he snores, farts, does no housework, moans, leaves his toys everywhere Wink, is rubbish at DIY and loves lie ins. Why would I ever need a man again? dreading meeting anyone else, he will want shared custody of the bed

LittleDog sleeps in bed with me, under the duvet snuggled up. It's lovely in the winter, he's a hot water bottle that never goes cold.

He snores quite badly though. Hmm

Picklesdog does not feel he is a dog...Wink Unless there's a lamppost in the immediate vicinity.

I am sure he's not alone

DP works away quite a bit and when he does, both his dog and mine get on the bed. A Leonberger and Bernese Mountain Dog. I've been known to give up and sleep on the floor, not because they're untrainable, it just amuses me no end to see them that way. And they drool less than me so bonus for the state of the bedsheets.

LittleDog is not a dog, he is quite emphatic about that.

oh, yes. I do secretly love it, even while I whinge about her.

No poo crumbs, AF. And no slobber or fur. Daphne is an elegant little lady.

I complained once about DH walking past me to greet the dog when he comes home from work. He replied that the dog lays down on the floor and lets him scratch her tummy.

Pickles
I laughed at your story.

My 2 dogs sleep at the side of the bed, DH refuses to let them on the bed, the collie curls up and tends to fall asleep without a sound, the staffy snorts, slurps, grunts and farts her way through a 20 minute fanjo clean, paces, twirls and stomps through 10 mins of bed making then another 20 mins of fanjo deep clean before settling down for 2 hours rest and then the whole thing starts again.
I wouldn't have it any other way and I'm sure I would have trouble sleeping if it wasn't for the knock out gas produced by a staffies arse.

My big, tough Stafie (I don't think so) was told "No" once and he has stayed downstairs in his basket ever since. You only have to say "that is not a good idea..." to him very gently for him to get the message about everyting except not eating out of the dishwasher.

Daphne is gorgeous, and LittleDog is a tiny bit in love :)

MmeLindor · 08/01/2013 15:06

Daphne doesn't fart. Never.

It is quite inconvenient actually, cause I can't blame the dog if I let one off.

We need to get LittleDog and Daphne together for a PlayDate :)

My friend dogsat ChinUpDog a couple of months ago as DH and I were travelling. She also has a dog that gets on very well with ChinUpDog, and they both sleep in the garage. Her DH was also working away from home.

Whilst we were away, I got a text from her that read like this:

"Just had one of my weirdest nights ever. Went to bed alone, as one does when DH and DS are away, but dreaming vividly that DH was in bed with me because he was snoring. Woke up at 6 with someone breathing on me to find my dog and ChinUpDog on my bed. But while my dog had the courtesy to sleep at the end, ChinUpDog had pulled DH's pillows into a nest and was sleeping next to my head - snoring! Moral of the story? Make sure the garage door is closed when u go to bed!".

Amazingly, she agreed to dogsit again later on. Another text from her read:

"How do you gross out a 17yr old (her DS)? Point out, whilst he is focussing intently on football that he is getting humped by ChinUpDog!".

ChinUpDog lurrrrves that family.

Ha. Chinup - I can't decide who I love more, your dog or your friend.

Daphne loves the beach, but not the water.

We had the funniest experience the first time she was at the beach in Scotland. Until then, she had only been in or near the waters of Lake Geneva, where she would have a wee drink when we were out on walks.

In Scotland, she went bounding up to the water, and took a great slurp. You should have seen her face! She was totally What is this shit??!

I wake up with no space as currently have just a single mattress on the floor as my sofa bed broke.
