To hate the episode of friends that's just been on?

It's the one where Rachel gets a new job and Ross being a controlling insecure nob end rings her up and sends her loads of flowers to work. He thinks that because she works with Mark she's obviously going to sleep with him because you know women can't be friends with me.

He even sends a barber shop quartet thingy to sing about her loving boyfriend Ross FFS.
Then when she complains he turns it round on her twat

I know I'm less tolerant of Ross and men like him since my years of reading mumsnet.
I really want her to tell him to fuck off and the LTB!
AIBU?

Disclaimer - I have a 6 week newborn constantly wanting food and cuddles so I am slightly on edge today Grin

YABu for watching Friends. full stop!

FatimaLovesBread · 05/01/2013 13:20

Grin I knew as soon as I posted that that would be my first reply

YABU. maybe if you bought this up about 15 years ago when the episode first aired it might have been relevant.

It's not real you know. Wink
I've always wanted to know how she went from being a useless waitress to an executive for a designer label so damn quickly. Totally far fetched

bigkidsdidit · 05/01/2013 13:24

I love friends but why can they not see Ross is a controlling needy git? It is a terrible episode

merlottits · 05/01/2013 13:24

Nah I love Friends and refuse to over think it just because of mumsnet. I loved the Ross character - I still weep thinking of the leather trousers, teeth whitening, and sunbed episodes Grin

fairylightsandtinsel · 05/01/2013 13:24

cos she spent her school and college years reading Vogue apparently! Of course its over the top, its a sitcom!

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2013 13:25

I used to love Friends. Can't watch now-they must be the most annoying bunch of people ever. I watch Big Bang Theory now, much better. Smile

FatimaLovesBread · 05/01/2013 13:26

I know but 15 years ago I was a teen who didn't understand emotional abuse although I did find it annoying.
I remember reading a thread about it possibly on FWR and it all slotting in to place.

DH knows I hate Ross in this series so normally it's banned but with having a cranky, constantly feeding baby and no idea where the remote is, this episode slipped through the net.

The channel has since been changed to TBBT

sparkling I too have moved my allegiance to The Big Bang Theory. It's great :)

peanutMD · 05/01/2013 13:28

Fatima treat yourself to TBBT box set. Wink

Love it Stacey but in 15 year's time will we still? Grin

FatimaLovesBread · 05/01/2013 13:30

Xpost with quite a few. I do love Friends, it reminds me of being 16 and lazing in bed at my best friends watching it on video all day. And I do think David Schwimmer is a fab comedy actor, just odd episodes annoy me especially after reading the MN analysis

Agree about Rachel's job, how does she manage to get one in Paris?!
I suppose its only as far fetched as them all having jobs but strong drinking coffee all day Grin

My all time favourite episode was when Phoebe was trying out get Chandler to admit he was seeing Monica..always makes me laugh.
I admit I did get teary when I watched the last ever show.

FatimaLovesBread · 05/01/2013 13:33

Sparkling I've got it. I've lent series 1-4 to my DSis telling her she'll love it. She watched all 20odd episodes of series one on New Years Day Grin

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2013 13:33

But isn't Monica a PITA? She is not a nice person. At all, I never saw it on first watch so to speak but now, OMG I wouldn't want her as a friend.

bigkidsdidit · 05/01/2013 13:33

The worst bit is when Ross sabotages Rachel moving to Paris

And when he doesn't even mention the fact his daughter is going too Confused

EnjoyResponsibly · 05/01/2013 13:34

Merlottits

PIVOT...PIIIIVOTTT!!!!!

FatimaLovesBread · 05/01/2013 13:34

Shiny I do like that episode "look Chandler, this is my bra" Smile

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2013 13:34

Brilliant Fatima. I'm trying to think what else we have been watching. Two Broke Girls is quite funny.

peanutMD · 05/01/2013 13:36

I do remember getting quite pissed off that Ben seemed to be abandoned by Ross because Emma was born though.

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 05/01/2013 13:37

I just watched it too. Very annoying, but I will spend the rest of the day singing the barbershop song Grin

There is nothing better than lazing in bed, watching friends. I got the box set for christmas (finally!) and am looking forward to Friends days very much.

MrsTigger71 · 05/01/2013 13:37

I love Friends, and the saddo that I am means that I never tire of watching it. I agree that Ross was controlling, but I always put it down to the fact that he loved Rachel for such a long time before they got together that he could never really believe his luck that he was finally with her ...

And as for the best episode, for me it's the one where no-ones ready.
