and before you all tell me not to watch it, I'm stuck with it as I'm confined to the lounge with the ironing board, where DH is watching it.
Bloody moronic repetitive singing and the inane commentary.
Oh and the lovely introduction where the players walk in with the sexy ladeez Hmm

YANBU. It is insanely dull. My DH has been watching it too, and what's worse is that he feels the need to tell me what he thinks about it as its happening. He doesn't seem to grasp that I couldn't give a flying fuck.

ComposHat · 01/01/2013 21:26

YABU the darts is brilliant.

Tension, incredible skill and matches thatcn switch on hitting a double. get beyond the cliches of beer bellies and Elizabeth Duke jewellery and enjoy the spectacle.

Catchingmockingbirds · 01/01/2013 21:26

It is really bloody boring.

MousyMouse · 01/01/2013 21:30

yabu to do the ironing.
let dh do it.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/01/2013 21:32

We love it here, watch it as a family every year, prepared to overlook the sexy laydeez as a feminism fail. The tension, the skill, the personalities, the atmosphere, just great.

DeWe · 01/01/2013 21:32

"One hundred and eighty"...
Df used to watch it. He had nicknames for all his favourite dart players which used to make us laugh. I can only remember "Fatty belly" as one. It's even more boring in black and white I can assure you. Wink

The snooker was probably worse in black and white although we did all laugh when the commentator said in all seriousness "For those of you with black and white sets, the pink ball is next to the brown ball..."

SugaricePlumFairy · 01/01/2013 21:35

Sod off, mine love it!

My ds3 can work out in his head the numbers needed for each player to win the round. It's fab for mental arithmetic!

Come on Michael! Sod Phil!.

LadySybilPussPolham · 01/01/2013 21:35

See I've always liked snooker - much more exciting!

ThisIsMummyPig · 01/01/2013 21:36

Completely unreasonable I love a bit of arrers. I also love snooker and cricket though.

Golf. Now that's boring

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/01/2013 21:40

Yes, come on Michael!!

Shakey1500 · 01/01/2013 21:40

YABU I love watching the darts. Though it's a far cry from the 80's where they were positively encouraged able to have a pint and a fag on the go Grin

I enjoy the relaxing pace of the snooker as well.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/01/2013 21:42

Can't get into the BDO though, PDC all the way in this house.

LadySybilPussPolham · 01/01/2013 21:42

Shakey I'd forgotten that - the table full of pint glasses!

JollyOldChristmas · 01/01/2013 21:44

It's excellent. We've watched lots this year.

I hate cricket though. And American football.

DozyDuck · 01/01/2013 21:44

Ironing boards are for the bedroom with wine and iPads

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/01/2013 21:44

Remember that sketch on Not the 9 o'clock news? He's going for a double - vodka!

HollyBerryBush · 01/01/2013 21:45

Oh god - hold my hand here - My only sonsolation is that its over tomorrow. And i won't have to look at the oaf Phil taylor again.

I hope this shows up if he google searches himself. Mr Taylor - you are an egocentric, unsporting, feckwit. Please retire, and you aren't eloquent enough to commentate either.

off my chest now

jenesaispas · 01/01/2013 21:45

I am missing Gary Barlow for this crap Angry Grin

MrsNPattz · 01/01/2013 21:46

Hate it too!

MooncupGoddess · 01/01/2013 21:46

I love the darts! Lots of tension and it's really easy to understand even for sports ignoramuses like me. Also the atmosphere seems really nice, very down to earth rather than all the corporate overpaid shite of most other sports these days. I love all the nicknames, in-jokes, drunk spectators wearing antlers, etc etc.

LadySybilPussPolham · 01/01/2013 21:46

Oh yes and the BLING. Not so much in evidence tonight but I remember being agog at Bobby George

OP posts:
ShatnersBassoon · 01/01/2013 21:46

There is no finer lazy afternoon viewing than darts. Snooker equals it. YABU.

Shakey1500 · 01/01/2013 21:46

There was some great characters in the era. Eric Bristow, Jockey Wilson, Bobby George. Does anyone remember John Lowe's 9 dart finish? You could hear a pin drop in our house!

Shakey1500 · 01/01/2013 21:47

that era

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/01/2013 21:48

I'd watch this in preference to Gary Barlow any day.
