Witco · 01/01/2013 01:35

She is completely bonkers but super-talented!

DrRanj · 01/01/2013 01:36

Well, bear what's not to love (are you referring to moi, or hottie cbeebies dr?)?

OP posts:
womblingalong · 01/01/2013 01:36

Bonkers in the best way, a true original, with a fab set of pipes!

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/01/2013 01:38

She has a fabulous voice.

She also charges 40k to perform at charity events.

I can't like her knowing that.

SoleSource · 01/01/2013 01:39

Ooh no

Is that really true?

timidviper · 01/01/2013 01:41

Nope, I don't like her, don't know why but she just gives me bad vibes.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/01/2013 01:43

It is. I have a friend who worked for a charity for whom Palamo Faith performed for. For 40k. Sad

DrRanj · 01/01/2013 01:43

Surely a charity has a choice whether to hire her or not? Would you work free for a charity?!

OP posts:
Alisvolatpropiis · 01/01/2013 01:46

Yes I would OP. In the position Paloma Faith is in,as a singer earning royalties, wouldn't you?

TerraNotSoFirma · 01/01/2013 01:49

I've met her and she was bloody lovely. Said I had nice hair and patted my bump. Love her.

AlreadyScone · 01/01/2013 01:50

Oh all sorts of artists charge to perform at charity events. I agree £40k is a silly amount but don't think there's anything unusual about celebs charging charities a hefty fee.

DrRanj · 01/01/2013 01:51

Er, she has barely been around a couple of years. I doubt she is rolling in it. She is hardly mick jagger. She deserves to be paid the going rate for doing her job, just like the rest if us.

OP posts:
Crikeyblimey · 01/01/2013 01:52

I love her. I have a girl crush on her. Barking amd talented. What's not to love?

DrRanj · 01/01/2013 01:53

Just hire someone cheaper if you're a charity and want a slebs to promote your event.

OP posts:
Alisvolatpropiis · 01/01/2013 01:55

Already you're right,I imagine the majority do. But the fee and the charity in question here,I just thought it was quite distasteful. Of course Paloma herself might have had no idea at all, I'd imagine her management must be fairly involved.

Nonetheless it makes me feel sad that artists charge Mikey to perform at charity events. Normal people work normal incomes do volunteer work. I cannot understand why the rich and "talented" feel they should be paid.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/01/2013 01:56

Ahem money not Mikey.

chewingguminmyhair · 01/01/2013 01:56

She deserves a fee. Charities have budgets for these things.

(Some charities have 90% of donations going directly to the cause, some just 20%. But they all have operating costs and this includes marketing/pr/celeb stuff/admin which all go toward more donations)

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/01/2013 01:57

DrRanj are you Paloma or her mum/sister?

WelshMaenad · 01/01/2013 01:58

No. Nooooooo.

Purely for "don't say nothing"

AAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!

MyCatHasStaff · 01/01/2013 01:59

Barking amd talented. What's not to love? Exactly.

DrRanj · 01/01/2013 02:02

But why should anyone be "obliged " to perform at a charity event?!

I suspect she is not that bothered about giving away her services for free. She is happy to perform, but expects the gong rate. What is wrong with that?!

I used to sing with a band. We would often be asked to perform at charity events. If it was a cause close to my heart, I would sing for free. If it wasn't, I would charge my usual fee,as I was a student etc. they didn't have to book me. Their choice. Any member of the public is not obliged to donate to charity unless they choose. Why should this be different with singers?

OP posts:
DrRanj · 01/01/2013 02:05

And no I am not her mum or sister! I am a jazz singer myself actually, and very jealous of the way she manages to emulate the greats in a very lovely and unpretentious way!

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/01/2013 02:17

I was only messing OP Blush

Had a couple of drinks.

Essentially YANBU. Paloma Faith is a talented singer who is a bit different to the average "rip my clothes off" type. And for that I like her.
