Its not written well, and tbh if Ana was a woman on MN, we would be telling ehr to leave him, because hes a arshole. its not even sexy.

Not read it, not going to read it.

Technoviking · 31/12/2012 14:55

50 shades of shit, I call it. I think I managed half of one page before closing the book and shaking my head. I could write a better book than that, and I'm illiterate.

MrsFlibble · 31/12/2012 14:55

I wouldnt bother, its not sexy nor has a thrilling storyline.

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 31/12/2012 14:57

I haven't read it. This is why.

I read all three because I cannot not finish a book I start no matter how sit it is in case it gets better/has a brilliant ending.

It didn't. I wasted hours of my life Sad

Mrsrudolphduvall · 31/12/2012 15:00

There were many copies in the charity shop yesterday.
Even at£1.50, I refuse to read it.

perplexedpirate · 31/12/2012 15:01

I think it's one of the worst books I've ever read.
And as for the sex scenes, I've read sexier car insurance policies.

comedycentral · 31/12/2012 15:02

I thought all threads about this were gone for good! I agree though, pile of shite.

polkadotsrock · 31/12/2012 15:03

Yanbu, some people love it, some hate it, you are of course entitled to any opinion you like. What I don't agree with is people who judge others for enjoying it- which you're not doing so happy days Smile

chicaguapa · 31/12/2012 15:03

I read it just so I could have an opinion. Which was that it was absolute shite! Some might say fair play to the author for making so much money from it, but it makes me Angry. I'm not sniffy about books, but it was worse than chick lit. DH wanted to discuss the whole abusive relationship issue, but I said it wasn't even worthy of that! Utter drivel (and I loved Twilight).

tzella · 31/12/2012 15:03

I usually keep my trap shut about stuff like this ("If you don't like, don't read it!") but I'm really, really, really, really never ever ever going to read this tripe.

MrsFlibble · 31/12/2012 15:04

I write as a hobby and my sex scenes sound better and i still think my writing is shit.

Also have you seen all the books like it for sale too, i see them everywhere.

scarletforyaOfficialXmasGRINCH · 31/12/2012 15:04

I haven't read it and don't intend to. I heard it's cringesomely bad.

WorraLorraTurkey · 31/12/2012 15:04

I just don't get the incessant moaning and wittering about a book...it's just a book.

I've never read it. Why? because I'm sick to death of everyone reading it and slagging it off.

It's like people read it knowing full well it won't be their cup of tea, but they just want to join in with the whinging?!

One poster was slagging it off repeatedly a few months ago...on every single 50 shades thread (and believe me there were many). It turned out not only did she hate the first one but she went on to read all bloody 3 of them???

GAAAAHHH!!

MrsFlibble · 31/12/2012 15:06

Worra I read it on the promise of sexy stuff, i like reading erotica, so i thought i'd like it, but really didnt.

GalaxyDisaStar · 31/12/2012 15:06

My book club read it. I managed about a third and totally hated it.

Not only is it a shit book, but it either had a shit editor, or the editor just decided not to bother since it had already been e-published.

Can I just say. You cannot talk to your subconscious. The clue is in the name. What with that and your inner goddess, you are clearly hearing voices and you might want some professional help with that rather than entering into an ill advised abusive relationship.

PessaryPam · 31/12/2012 15:08

I read it for our book club and it is badly written shite.

trumpalot · 31/12/2012 15:08

every now and then i feel that i am somehow missing out on something.. i am an avid reader and read all sort s of stuff(free books for kindle) and some i just have to delete.. but it doesnt interest me. only the fact that so many people have read bks that i havent!!

MrsFlibble · 31/12/2012 15:08

lol Galaxy, thats a point, my inner goddess retired long ago.

You are so three months ago Xmas Grin

catgirl1976geesealaying · 31/12/2012 15:09

YANBU

It's dismal

Badly written

She is a prat, he is a petulant child and the sex is incredibly dull and vanilla

Awful book

LynetteScavo · 31/12/2012 15:10

The first book is indeed shit, and very badly written.

The 3rd book isn't that bad, though, and is quite entertaining (there is even a 70mph car chase Shock!). You need to stick with it...they really don't take that long to read! Grin

D0oinMeCleanin · 31/12/2012 15:10

I was waiting for her to pass out from lack of oxygen throughout the book and still wonder how someone who frequently needed reminding to do something so basic as breathing could ever be classed as intelligent.

MrsFlibble · 31/12/2012 15:12

Apparently, EL James might write it from his POV, should be thrilling Confused
