Its not written well, and tbh if Ana was a woman on MN, we would be telling ehr to leave him, because hes a arshole. its not even sexy.

Day 1: Met Ana, vair pretty but kept forgetting to breathe. Should be easy target. Seems dim. Wonder if I should buy her some sort of alarm that will go off when she stops breathing?

Itsjustmeanon · 31/12/2012 15:14

YANBU

polkadotsrock · 31/12/2012 15:15

Is the sex really that vanilla? If it is I have no idea what you could even call mine- perhaps 'off-vanilla' Blush

catgirl1976geesealaying · 31/12/2012 15:16

Day 2: Vaguely threatened Ana with promise of butt plug. Cos I had a bad childhood. Moaned about said childhood for a bit. Had vair dull sex that was over in 30 seconds. Ana forgot to breathe again

catgirl1976geesealaying · 31/12/2012 15:17

They don't really do much polka IMO

Lots of talk of kinky fuckery but generally pretty normal sex actually happening I thought

Ishtar2410 · 31/12/2012 15:18

I got about halfway through the first one before I decided it was rubbish. Not one to give up, I thought I'd give it a chance (I thought it had to get better; there had to be some reason for its popularity beyond the obvious Hmm ). It was tedious and a bloody struggle to get through it.....and I've read some crap in my time.

Anyhow, I finished it utter pile of shite challenging as it was. Couldn't see what the fuss was all about, but each to their own I guess.

GalaxyDisaStar · 31/12/2012 15:20

Day 3- Ana keeps shaking her head. She says to gather her wits. Her mouth also literally drops open when surprised and she keeps muttering to her inner goddess under her breath. It's all rather off putting if I'm honest.

polkadotsrock · 31/12/2012 15:21

Well I read it quite a while ago, and may have indulged in some more ladyporn since, so maybe I don't remember it too clearly... (Will still have been a significantly darker shade of vanilla than mine Envy

MrsFlibble · 31/12/2012 15:29

Day 4, more kink fuckery and Ana biting her bottom lip, its got callouses now, we discussed Mrs Robinson, and how much of a twat i am.

Where are all the people supporting the book? Last time.I checked there were millions of people who loved the books.

werewolvesdidit · 31/12/2012 15:33

It is anti-feminist.

FiftyShedsOfGrey · 31/12/2012 15:36

I haven't read it and don't intend to. I'm a bit of a rebel, a maverick if you will, if something is very popular I go all hipster.

catgirl1976geesealaying · 31/12/2012 15:36

It is anti-beingabletostringasentencetogether

trikken · 31/12/2012 15:37

its ok but tbh i skipped the 'sex' scenes.

TheOriginalLadyFT · 31/12/2012 15:37

It is dreadful, and it depresses me that it has been such a massive seller and has spawned a rush for lots of other crappy erotic lit books

ChristmasKnackers · 31/12/2012 15:38

I don't get all the fuss. I read it, it's ok. Not a masterpiece, but then it's not billed as one.

Dan browns da Vinci code is utter tripe and poorly written , yet read by millions, but people don't keep banging on about it.

catgirl1976geesealaying · 31/12/2012 15:40

Im happy to bang on about how shite Dan Brown is :)

trikken · 31/12/2012 15:41

mil gave me a book that is supposed to be the same genre. I havent finished it cos its worse and storyline seemed like they just changed christian to gideon and the (girl) friend to a gay housemate.

gazzalw · 31/12/2012 15:42

It's so last year darling! Yes, DW disposed of her copies to a charity shop....

Did you know it's actually spawned a baby boom though - seriously! Have it on good authority from friends who are midwives!

CaptChaos · 31/12/2012 15:47

I read it, it made me giggle a lot at the bloody awful writing and kept me company when I was having a poo. It remains in the loo so that other people can giggle while defecating.

grimbletart · 31/12/2012 15:52

i am baffled how such a steaming pile of ordure that is Fifty Shades became book of the year. What does that say for the taste of the great British public?

MurderOfGoths · 31/12/2012 16:04

You all really need to read this analysis of it
