Travelling on the motorway today and stopped at a petrol station. I went round the side of the garage for a crafty fag and found a new toilet seat, still in its box. It looked like it had been dumped there. WIBU to chuck it in the boot and bring it home? DP says I was, I think I am recycling.

Is it soft-close?

KittyFane1 · 30/12/2012 22:08

YABU. The poor workman who spent 3 hours today searching for it (after he stored it safely round the back of the loos) probably also thinks YWVU. Shock

uptheamp · 30/12/2012 22:08

Not soft-close = YABU. You're just perpetuating the existence of these abominations.

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 30/12/2012 22:13

Wooden toilet seats are vile therefore yabu.

BadDayAtTheOrifice · 30/12/2012 22:13

DP says I stole it. I think I've saved it from landfill.

A cigarette at the side of a petrol station? Lucky you didn't blow everyone up. And yes, yabu, it's stealing.

ditavonteesed · 30/12/2012 22:14

do you need a toilet seat?

BabylonElf · 30/12/2012 22:15

It's the old one just revealed in the box the new one came in Shock

Oooh stinky!!!

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 30/12/2012 22:15

I rather hope when you get it out of the box it is the old one in the new box - would serve you right Xmas Grin

You have no idea who put it there or why. Stealing is stealing.

BabylonElf · 30/12/2012 22:15

Revealed??? Resealed!!!!

bearymerrychristmas · 30/12/2012 22:16

Do you have a need for a toilet seat or did you just "save2 it for the sake of it?

You stole it really..... Xmas Grin

BabylonElf · 30/12/2012 22:16

Shutupanddrive · 30/12/2012 22:16

So, today when I was out, i'd been to the next sale, bought myself a nice new toilet seat, a wooden one, driving home, I stopped at the services for a crafty cig, toilet seat was on my handbag so I just lent it up against the wall out the way, had my fag- the last one so and went round and bought some more and when I came back some barstward had taken it.

My nice new seat, i'd spent ages choosing that, saving for it. Have people no morals?!

BadDayAtTheOrifice · 30/12/2012 22:22

A purely opportunistic crime and its now dawning on me will all be on CCTV somewhere.....Confused

Are you my dad? Seriously? Cos he came home with a loo cistern lid, the wrong size, in green their loo is pink the other day to 'replace the one they have', was wondering if someone somewhere is trying to shift a whole set? Grin

It was probably a bad idea to take it, what did you plan to do with it once you got it home, exactly?

ditavonteesed · 30/12/2012 22:31

remembering student days when I would wake up with a for sale sign, or a traffic cone, or one of those flasing lights or a pot plant from the bank thats foyer you could open with your card. all regretted, its just more crap that you have to dispose of.

milkwagon · 30/12/2012 23:14

Err, it's technically theft by finding. Plenty of CCTV eh? Oops!

Pandemoniaa · 30/12/2012 23:17

I'm more bothered by your assumption that a petrol station was an appropriate place to have a fag break than I am by the liberation of the lavvy seat.
