To wonder if it's safe to travel by train to Cardiff at the moment?

We live in the Midlands. My dds, aged 11 and 9 are supposed to be traveling to Cardiff tomorrow with their dad to spend Christmas with their family in Wales. I have heard about the flooding but don't know whether I should let them go or not - is it safe? XH has down played it (but then he always does). Dd1 is severely autistic.

I'd go on thetrainline.com and find out who the operator is then contact them or check their website. To be honest, the trains will either be running or not running, if it's not safe then they simply won't be operating.

The only thing he needs to be careful about is if they have to change trains at some point and the ongoing train is cancelled - I guess they could end up 'stranded' somewhere?

I live near Cardiff. All fine as far as I am aware.

Im in Cardiff and havent heard of any problems with the trains today.

Few issues yesterday but all resolved now as far as I know.

I know there were buses between Newport and Cardiff earlier as central station had complete signal failure. I think there are still issues between Cardiff and Swansea but check the arriva trains Wales site for info.

What floods in Cardiff?

I live in newport and not heard anything

It's Devon and Cornwall trains that are under water.

I'm around Llantrisant way and it's been ok here. I heard that some services were being diverted between Bridgend and Swansea but that's been it.

I travelled by train from London to Cardiff today and back again. I was supposed to be going further West than that but the route between Cardiff and Swansea was closed.

I'm near Bridgend and friends had problems getting back from Cardiff yesterday but my brother managed to get there and back by train earlier.

I think they should be okay,yesterday was a bit of a nightmare but as far as I know things improved today.

I'm edge of Newport and my feet seem dry!

We've been out Bristol way and into the valleys other side of Cardiff today with no issues. We are travelling to Yorkshire tomorrow so I hope it stays that way.

The flooding seems to be more Monmouthshire way which won't affect train lines but as pp said check train line in the morning.

We're just north of Cardiff and all ok on the valley lines as far as I know!
