To think most kids will be in bed well before 8 on Christmas Eve

So Channel 4 are showing the Snowman and the snowdog, a sequel to the Snowman but they are showing it at 8pm on Christmas Eve. Now to me this is pretty ridiculous as I know for certain both DC's will be up in bed by 7. This would be perfect for DS before bed on Christmas Eve if only it was on a bit earlier, surely most kids will be in bed before 8?

Depends what you mean by "kids".

PiratePetesPotty · 21/12/2012 20:34

YANBU, I thought this too but I think it's being repeated on boxing day in the afternoon so young children can see it then.

SweetMingePie · 21/12/2012 20:36

Not just me then! I could kiss you Op!

My DC usually go to bed by half 7, so having this on at 8pm has annoyed me as they'd like to stop up and watch it. I've agreed to it, but I think they'll be shattered as they'll be getting up early Christmas morning.

Wish they were showing it at 7.

hippoherostandinghere · 21/12/2012 20:36

Kids of the age that would like to watch the Snowman.

yanbu I don't understand why they are putting it on at this time either. My 6yo will probably be in bed by 8pm and if not should be!!

TeamBacon · 21/12/2012 20:36

Yy, it should be on at 7pm. Perfect tv before bed on Xmas eve. DS will.hopefully be asleep by then though!

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 21/12/2012 20:36

I thought the same when I saw that advertised. FC is well on his way on NORAD by then from what I remember, so yes, children will be in bed!

FutTheShuckUp · 21/12/2012 20:37

Hahaha no chance here

Goldendandelion · 21/12/2012 20:38

YANBU

It is a ridiculous time to put it on. We will be recording it and watching it when we get around to it. I'm more excited about Room On The Broom anyway.

crazygracieuk · 21/12/2012 20:40

Mine have never managed it to be in bed at 8pm on Christmas Eve (not even their first Christmas) When I was a kid I swear the Snowman was on at 4pm ish?

I think 8pm is a weird time considering that Dr Who is on at 6:20pm or something like that the next day.

DefiniteMaybe · 21/12/2012 20:41

I doubt my ds aged 4 will be in bed by 8. We watch a film on christmas eve so will probably be closer to 9 before he's in bed.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 21/12/2012 20:42

Mine certainly won't be, they go at 8 on school nights, 8.30-9ish at weekends, I think it's a good time as they can be all ready in their PJs and go straight to bed at the end. They're 6 and 8.

hippoherostandinghere · 21/12/2012 20:48

Well mine are 3.8 and 1.7. They never last any longer than 7.

pantaloons · 21/12/2012 20:49

My 3 are 5, 7 and 9 and will be tucked up before then. It will take them a while to get to sleep no matter what time they go to bed so they go at their normal time of 7 so they aren't knackered on Christmas day.

I thought the same when I saw the advert, it's a really odd time to put it on.

TeamBacon · 21/12/2012 20:49

When is room on a broom on?

5yo DS will be in bed at 7:30.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 21/12/2012 20:51

Mine haven't regularly gone to bed before 8 since they were about 2 and 4.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 21/12/2012 20:52

hippo - I think your children are at the very young end of where The Snowman is aimed though. I think of it as being more for the 4/5+ age group who are more likely to be up.

Mine will be up, they are 4.5 and 1.9. I doubt we will be watching it though because of everything else going on, we are going to record it for another day.

DorsetKnobwithJingleBellsOn · 21/12/2012 20:52

Totally agree with you about timing of it.

difficultpickle · 21/12/2012 20:53

Ds (8) will watch it. He is usually in bed by 7.30-8pm but as he doesn't need to get up early the next day I don't see the harm. Next Christmas he'll be 9 and singing at midnight mass.

DorsetKnobwithJingleBellsOn · 21/12/2012 20:53

Room on the broom is on at 4.45 on Xmas Day and 9 am on Boxing day.

PoppyWearer · 21/12/2012 20:54

Mine are only just conking out now.

[knackered emoticon]

difficultpickle · 21/12/2012 20:54

I assume it is on at 8pm as it is prime time (good for advertising revenue) and will appeal to adults (who watched the original Snowman as children) and children.

Tortington · 21/12/2012 20:54

yabu

nokidshere · 21/12/2012 20:56

My two went to bed at 8 or before right up until they were 7 & 9!

Goldendandelion · 21/12/2012 20:56

Room On The Broom is on at 4.35pm on christmas day.
My 9, 6 and 4 yr olds will be in bed by 8pm on christmas eve.
