Was I Being Unreasonable to point out the potential to offend in this FarceBook post?

I may have made a total twat of myself, the person (not the person who posted it) arguing against me certainly thinks I am. The picture reads:

Dear God, grant me the patience to endure the window-licking, crayon-eating, helmet-wearing fucktards I'll encounter today.

So, outrageously offensive or harmlessly humorous?

NoKnidForABed · 14/12/2012 18:05

It would make me pull a Hmm face

DontForgetTheSproutsLawrence · 14/12/2012 18:06

Offensive. And not humorous. They are a knobjockey, not you.

ElectricSoftParade · 14/12/2012 18:06

YANBU.

chrismissymoomoomee · 14/12/2012 18:07

I wouldn't have bothered arguning. I would have defriended or hidden it, but there is generally no point trying to reason with the people who make and share these things, it only makes them do it all the more to offend more people.

chrismissymoomoomee · 14/12/2012 18:10

arguing*

jinglebellyalltheway · 14/12/2012 18:11

offensive but not point arguing, I'd hide or delete

SallyCinnamonandNutmeg · 14/12/2012 18:12

Exactly what chrismissy says.

Shakirasma · 14/12/2012 18:13

Well done OP. An old school friend of mine posted this yesterday. I was extremely offended so I replied with a rant, then 10 mins later I deleted it and hid the post as I really didn't have the energy to have a row.

I am glad I have seen what sort of person she is though.

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 14/12/2012 18:14

The OP didn't realise, apologised, and is generally lovely so no reason to defriend. It's someone else who is trying to say i should shut up it's just a joke Xmas Grin

vjg13 · 14/12/2012 18:17

It is a hideous thing to post and makes me glad I don't do Facebook and expose myself to 'jokes' like that.

Enfyshedd · 14/12/2012 18:18

Some days I might feel like that, but I'd certainly never say it and even less of a chance of posting that on FB.

Shakirasma · 14/12/2012 18:19

What do you mean you feel like that???

EndoplasmicReticulum · 14/12/2012 18:20

Delete Delete Delete.

That is offensive.

vjg13 · 14/12/2012 18:21

Enfyshedd, how lovely of you that on some days you feel like that about people with learning difficulties.

jinglebellyalltheway · 14/12/2012 18:21

hide it before some twat turns up and tells you that its your fault that santa is banned (apparently Hmm, I've seen 3 so far this year!!) so as not to offend the black gays and it's PC gone made etc etc

  • honestly, arguing about these things on facebook just adds fuel to their fire! it really does!
PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 14/12/2012 18:42

If it read "Dear Deity-of-choice, please grant me the patience to endure all the two-faced bigotted wankpuppets I'll encounter today" I'd have laughed. It's the choice of language i don't like!

My partner is black, my 3 week old child is mixed race and I have many years experience supporting people with learning difficulties including my 7yo niece. Most people i know (fb and otherwise) know better than to even try it with me Xmas Grin

This one forgot to do his homework and is being eaten alive...

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 14/12/2012 18:44

Actually, sorry, can't have two-faced in case I offend any followers of Janus Xmas Hmm

OP posts:
jinglebellyalltheway · 14/12/2012 18:45

you'll only prove them right.. in their eyes anyway! The fact that you object to them "enjoying a joke" is proof that they need to fight for their right to be wankers before the gays get their way and ban christmas all together!

Dandelion75 · 14/12/2012 18:47

YANBU. I have had FB 'friends ' post this kind of rubbish before, and just unfriended them straight away. They have always been tenuous FB friends ie people I haven't seen for ages, old school classmates etc so no loss - my proper friends would never say something like that.

vivizone · 14/12/2012 18:49

what does the status mean?

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 14/12/2012 18:53

Jingle, i mostly use fb while breastfeeding - pointing out how twattish the twats are being provides me with endless amusement Xmas Wink

jinglebellyalltheway · 14/12/2012 18:53
