To think Marcus Wareing really needs to get his priorities right

He was on Masterchef last night saying that he has sacrificed family and friends for cooking; if he had to take off his chef's coat right now he would be absolutely nothing; cooking is his life etc etc etc.

AIBU to think he just prepares fancy food, he is not saving lives or undertaking ground breaking research or writing great literary novels... he is just preparing fancy food?

no, i am just able to use google

AfterEightMintyy · 05/12/2012 17:13

I think top level cooking is a terrible profession in many ways.

AllSnowballsAndNoKnickers · 05/12/2012 17:14

I think at that level of cooking Monica has every right to be as many different sorts of cow as she needs to be! And she'll do if Michel is too busy [lascivious drool here]

NessunDorma · 05/12/2012 17:16

I like Michel, I suppose you have to be very strict with your staff if your reputation is at stake.

Who is the other presenter from normal Masterchef?

OhDearNigel · 05/12/2012 17:16

Greg Wallace. IMHO he "brings nothing to this dish"

Janeatthebarre · 05/12/2012 17:18

I agree afterEight. What I really hate, though, is when some chefs put it on a level with being a heart surgeon, or discovering a cure for cancer or somesuch. And as for the ones throwing temperamental shouty strops as if they're Picasso ..... It's only food.

Its food that people travel a long way and pay a shitload of money for though.

Like I said, just because its not your priority op, doesn't make it wrong.

TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 05/12/2012 17:25

I wondered if it was staff and the place was shut.

A Michelin Starred restaurant has to be ready at all times for a Michelin judge to just show up. And no one knows who they are. They aren't going to risk a star for a TV show, even if they are paid gobs of money.

Peggotty · 05/12/2012 17:25

I feel quite ashamed to admit I ever-so-slightly fancy Marcus Wareing. But in my defence I'm at a certain stage in my monthly cycle (tmi) and can't be held responsible for my hormones. I like intense men but do think Michel has lovely soulful eyes.

Frontpaw · 05/12/2012 17:35

I could tell they weren't the right sort... Didn't you see how that woman was holding her fork? Shock.

worriedmum100 · 05/12/2012 17:37

As far as I can tell Greg's contribution amounts to:

  1. "i want more sauce"
  2. "that's larvvvely"

Michel overuses the phrase "bang on" (he's still larvvely though....)

mignonette · 05/12/2012 17:37

He's a Ramsay protegee. It is part of that culture.

DreamsTurnToGoldDust · 05/12/2012 17:40

Unfortunately, DH looks more like Greg Wallace (with a little hair) than Michel Roux jnr, sigh.

threestepsforward · 05/12/2012 17:40

Greg has the dream job. He isn't required to contribute anything technical or taxing - he just gets to fill his face with yummy food, lucky bastard!

I think I have the same look in my eyes as his when I see anything in the form of pudding approaching me.

TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 05/12/2012 17:40

I did notice that Frontpaw! I was Xmas Shock

Frontpaw · 05/12/2012 17:41

And some of the diners were... From the colonies!!!!!!!

valiumredhead · 05/12/2012 17:43

Anyone been to Greg's restaurant?

threestepsforward · 05/12/2012 17:44

Peggotty noooooooooooooo!
He was a humourless, charmless t**t!

(can you call famous people t**ts on the web and not be sued?)

WinklyVersusTheZombies · 05/12/2012 17:45

Gregg's restaurant has been reviewed as Not Good...

Frontpaw · 05/12/2012 17:46

As long as you say 'I think that...' Or 'in my opinion...' Or 'allegedly'.

WinklyVersusTheZombies · 05/12/2012 17:48

This is the review of Greg's not so larvvvely restaurant that rather put me off booking a table.

threestepsforward · 05/12/2012 17:48

Thanks Frontpaw...I never know nowadays.

valiumredhead · 05/12/2012 17:50

Oh Lord - bad review!

Janeatthebarre · 05/12/2012 17:51

I was in it once. It was nothing special.

TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 05/12/2012 18:02

It sounds horrible and expensive.
