You know when you make one (inadvertent) mistake and you pay for it every day for a decade afterwards...

I ordered a dress from Very in October. I arranged for it to get delivered using the Click + Collect facility (where the courier takes it to a designated C+C shop and you pick it up when convenient) Basically, I got really bad gastroenteritis when it was delivered and I was stuck in for two weeks and never collected the dress. C+C sent me an email to say it had been returned to Very, as I hadn't been able to collect it. Thought no more of it.

Then Very sent a statement asking for the payment for this dress. DH rang them and explained that I hadn't collected it. They said they would try and trace it and not to worry. So we didn't pay any money. Then we started getting phonecalls from their payments department demanding money or else they would charge us for late payment Confused DH said that that wasn't going to happen and that thet were going to be sensible and speak to the department chasing the missing parcel...

A few weeks to now, they have rang more times (we have just ignored the phone tbh, they are morons) We have been emailing their "customer services" department regularly to ask on the status of this. Yesterday they emailed back to say they had found the parcel and the £25 would be credited to our account.

So just logged into my account and they HAVE refunded the £35 but there is £25 (the late charges!) still waiting to be paid. They're having a laugh, right?

So I just wanted to warn you that they are an arse of a company and honestly, they're overpriced, terrible at customer service, staffed by script-reading robots and they try and shaft money out of you for their errors.

If you value your sanity, you will want to avoid.

What do you expect from a company that uses Holly Winsomebooby and Fern Common as their front people?

EnjoyResponsibly · 28/11/2012 21:16

Oops x post Sparkling Grin

BupcakesAndCunting · 28/11/2012 21:17

TBH, I had ordered two dresses for an occasion (one from Very Shit and one from A/Wear) and if I liked the one from Very Shit, I was going to pay for it in full immediately.

I can't recommend A/Wear enough actually. I've ordered several dresses from them over the year and they are fabulous.

We nearly ordered £400 of oak furniture from them last week (on Buy Now pay Next Year Blush) but then wised up and found an eBay seller selling the exact same stuff, brand new, for half the price. God knows where he gets all the ex-catalogue stuff (I was too scared to ask) but we were vair happy.

OscarPistoriusBitontheside · 28/11/2012 21:24

I seem to recall that Yodel and Very are connected. Possibly owned by the same parent company?

Figures. eh?

FWIW I ordered from amazon and it's not Yodel doing the deliveries now it seems!

SkinnyMarinkADink · 28/11/2012 21:25

Sorry to be blunt but is this still going on?

I said on the last tread about it that you are partly to blame.

BupcakesAndCunting · 28/11/2012 21:29

Err no. No it's not still going on. I made this thread up for shits and giggles Hmm

Isn't it nice that you found the time to come and say it again Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 28/11/2012 21:31

First I have heard of it all Bupcakes.

BupcakesAndCunting · 28/11/2012 21:34

Skinny thinks that I am partly to blame because I did not collect the parcel.

However, in all correspondance with C+C, it was made clear that if I couldn't collect by a certain date that it would merely be returned and I wouldn't be charged for the item(s).

Still, Skinny obviously has knowledge that I don't...

Sorry I'm fascinated - how is she partly to blame?

Oh yes, a hmm face, that explains it all.

notactuallyme · 28/11/2012 22:23

[Blush] sorry. You can put your fanjo away now. Definitely far too much inhaled wine tonight. At least all is as it was in mumsnet world.

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 28/11/2012 22:32

Dunelm Mill are shit too, and very rude. Avoid them too...
(they only backed down when I outed them on Mumsnet, I hope your thread helps you Bupcakes!)Wink

ReindeerBollocks · 28/11/2012 22:52

Very are bastards.

We rang them to inform them that MIL had passed away (about four days after her death) as she held an account there. They promised that as we had an estate to sort they would give us time to deal with the remaining debt via the correct channels.

Bastards sent out a letter from their debt collection agency reclaiming the funds the same day. We received that letter on the day of her funeral (so about eight/nine days after her death). It's for £53.

I will forever hate them for being insensitive wankers.

Good luck Bups, they can't possibly charge you for an item you didn't receive, regardless of their C&C policy.

prettybird · 28/11/2012 23:33

To be fair on Very wash my mouth out with soap dh was a victim of identity theft/credit card fraud, in that someone opened a Very account in his name and then had stuff delivered to somewhere in Birmingham (we live in Glasgow Hmm). First we knew of it was when we got the bill Angry

Their Fraud Department was excellent and they quickly acknowledged that the account had been opened fraudulently. Put the appropriate note on his credit record and with ICSIS (?) - and we followed up on that too, so it didn't affect his credit rating. Told us not to worry about bills as it might take a wee while to filter through to the billing department.

Ignored the first one - but when we started getting red bills, dh then had to ring them up and tell them to talk to their fraud department. And then ring up their fraud department and tell them to talk to their billing department..... Hmm

It did eventually get sorted, months and months later.

Needless to say, I've never been tempted to open a Very account! Grin

The irritating as hell adverts are enough to put me off even looking at the website.

They make my teeth itch.
