Especially in a shared office. Done regularly. Hmm

Where do you work? Zoo?

LouP19 · 21/11/2012 13:03

No, afraid not! Grin

Yuck. Can't you tell them to stop it?

A friend of mine keeps saying "mmmmm" when eating something she likes, get's right on my nerves and told her to keep her "deliciousness" to herself Grin

gottasmile · 21/11/2012 13:06

you should hear dh go on about finger licking in general. He finds it incredibly disgusting and god forbid if the dc do it! Absolutely not allowed in our house.

But back to you LouP19, annoying and disgusting really. Maybe pass him/her a napkin (with a smile)?

MrsBovary · 21/11/2012 13:10

It's repulsive.

I too would be tempted to ask if they'd like a napkin.

What about toe sucking Grin

RuleBritannia · 21/11/2012 13:14

Does your colleague bite his/her nails?

InNeedOfBrandy · 21/11/2012 13:16

Its ok for me to do it but not for anyone else, then its gross. Grin

squoosh · 21/11/2012 13:17

I cannt bear loud, slurpy eaters. I actually dream about killing them. Once they stop eating my rage evaporates (luckily).

What I also cannot stand is people who after using their napkin to dab their face then carry out a full exploration of their nasal cavity.

JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE USING A NAPKIN DOESN'T MAKE NOSE PICKING AT THE TABLE SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE!!!!!!

Hemlet · 21/11/2012 13:18

Oh GOD!! I work in an open plan office and this drives me insane. I hate loud eaters and there are some people who seem to have the habit of eating a bag of crisps as loudly as they can! CHOMP CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH........CHOMP CRUNCH CRUNCH...It makes me want to hurl things.

squoosh · 21/11/2012 13:20

Our rage at nosiy eaters isn't our fault though.

We've got a disorder!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misophonia

squoosh · 21/11/2012 13:20

'People who have misophonia are most commonly annoyed, or even enraged, by such ordinary sounds as other people eating, breathing, sniffing, talking, sneezing, yawning, walking, chewing gum, snoring or coughing; certain consonants; or repetitive sounds.[6] Intense anxiety and avoidant behavior may develop, which can lead to decreased socialization. Some people may feel the compulsion to mimic what they hear.[7]'

LouP19 · 21/11/2012 13:26

Oh, I feel slightly more reassured. I'm pregnant and wondered if I'm just very irritable at the moment!
Problem is I really like the person who does it. But she eats a lot at her desk and seems to have no problem in letting everyone else know how much she's enjoying her food. So lots of slurping and lip smacking and finger licking throughout the day. Convinced I'm not the only one who notices it.
I feel really bad typing this. Blush

My favourite colleague is a really good friend of mine, we'll be friends forever etc. etc . . . . . . . . .excapt when he's eating an apple. Then I would happily push him into a bubbling volcano.

scarletforya · 21/11/2012 13:37

YANBU

Finger licking is revolting. Eurgh! I can't figure out how people get food all over their fingers anyway, it's a horrible feeling to get food on your hands!

JaneFonda · 21/11/2012 13:40

Clipped - that reminded me of sketch from Smack the Pony! :o

mortimersraven · 21/11/2012 13:59

Wow really never, ever move to China

Here they make a thing of noisy slurpy eating... they spit gristly bits out onto their plate without disguising it at all... suck their teeth and smack their lips... eat with their mouths open, the list goes ON AND ON

spit in the street urinate on the pavement

I can't eat in the kitchen at work when my colleagues do because of the smacking, licking and spitting noises, bleurgh

ClippedPhoenix · 21/11/2012 14:06

Oh oh, JaneFonda, what have you done! I'm being bombarded by evil unfriendlike thoughts of trickery Grin

But, THAT is exactly the sort of thing she does!

magicstar1 · 21/11/2012 14:33

I feel your pain! I share a desk with my boss with just a small partition so we can't see each other...but I hear everything. He eats at his desk all day - 9.30, 10.30, 11.30, 12.45, 2.30, 3.30 4.30 are his regular snack times. He makes his tea too hot and slurps it down, he smacks his lips when eating anything, and always brings in a tupperware container of crunch carrots, cucumber etc.
I hate him so much Angry

magicstar1 · 21/11/2012 14:33

*crunchy carrots Blush

LouP19 · 21/11/2012 15:03

Slurping tea, that's another thing!! Angry

I'm always wary about eating in a shared office. If I have egg sarnies or french fries for example I always make sure I go elsewhere. Crisps really do my nut in - they seem to combine noise, lip smacking and then LOTS of finger licking!! I sometimes look around when she's doing it and think 'Is anyone else not getting that?!!'.

YANBU.

What I really really cannot stand though is someone blowing their nose at the table, or really loudly at a table beside you in a restaurant. Stomach heaving!

tangofan · 21/11/2012 17:02

Grin at what squoosh said!

I understand totally, our office is also full of constant snackers but is a manner-free zone. Utterly unacceptable.
I also understand the thing about eating something stronger smelling away from the office, I do that too.
Ever so slightly off topic but to add to the list: spraying deoderant/body spray at your desk is not fucking on. Especially when I am (quietly) eating my lunch. I complained about it once - jokingly(ish) - and was told "well I just walked back from town and I'm a bit sweaty". Here's an idea:wash and apply the deoderant before you leave the house in the morning.
And what's with tea slurping?! If you can't drink it without vacuuming it into your mouth fucking wait till it cools down.
I obviously suffer from quite acute "misophonia". Blush

tangofan · 21/11/2012 17:02

Oh, I forgot - licking the yoghurt lid!! Why?! Yuk.
