To feel a bit sick when i saw fil licking my ds's feet

It happened saturday and even thinking about it now makes me feel a bit sick, He had turned up drunk at our house, dp had taken him out for a drink, but was driving so obviously wasnt as drunk as his dad.

Fil had hold of ds and i could smell the stench of stale smoke (hes typical old man, set in his ways, wears same clothes day in day out, gradually becoming more stained by the smoke) he usually doesnt come near when he smells of smoke as he knows the risks to ds (even if it has taken us months to drum it in).

anyway dp popped out to make some tea and i was sat talking to him, he had ds lying with his back on his lap and feet in the air, next thing hes licking his toes, i dont just mean a little lick and kiss, i mean proper sticking his tongue out, rolling it around his toes, eyes closed really getting into it.

I feel sick just writing this, told dp later and he just laughed it off, just me or is this a bit weird revolting??

Was FIL still drunk at the time?

Fakebook · 20/11/2012 13:28

....words fail me. Really. Highly unnecessary.

Why didn't you tell him to stop? Did you wash your son's feet afterwards?

LadyMaryChristmas · 20/11/2012 13:29

Eww, that's grim!

BuntyCollocks · 20/11/2012 13:29

That's exceptionally creepy.

How old is DS? I hesitate to ask, but has there ever been any worries about FIL with children? Just that the way you describe it, him closing his eyes and really getting into it, sounds almost sexual. :(

FunnysInLaJardin · 20/11/2012 13:29

that is very odd and would be most uncomfortable with it. What did your DH say?

sunnysunnyshine · 20/11/2012 13:29

Fucking weird and fucking revolting!!! YADNBU!

Wheresmygalaxy · 20/11/2012 13:32

Yep told him so stop and yes he was drunk still, he just laughed it off and said it was like tickling him, er no it is nothing like that at all.

At that point ds started crying through teething and i tried to give him some bonjela, fil held on tightly as he said he was "talking" to him and pulled him the other way. So i grabbed hold of ds and told him he is in pain, i wont have him sitting there crying just because you want a hold. he kind of took the hint and left soon after.

fakebook Dont worry, i had ds in the bath quicker than you could say your father repulses me.

forgot to add ds is only 5 months.

seriously dont think there is anything wrong with him other than the fact he was drunk and doing it. Dp didnt find it that bad which made me think it was just my problem, but i think if i even saw my own mother doing the same thing 9which she wouldnt do at all) that would also make me queasy.

Eeeuuuuurrrrgh!!! That is truly grim (and I speak as one who loves baby feet and thought nothing of going in for a kiss on each tiny toe. But only on my own children - wouldn't dream of doing it to someone else's! And as for deploying the tongue OMG) Did you say anything or just look on in horror?

Actually, this has made me feel slightly nauseous Envy

thatbastard yes you have misunderstood. he had 1 pint to fil quite a lot more.

I wouldnt start a thread by saying my dp had been drink driving, but lets forget about that and concentrate on fil licking my sons feet.

OP posts:
missymoomoomee · 20/11/2012 13:39

but he was driving so obviously wasn't as drunk - I assume you mean wasn't drunk at all?

As for the feet licking ewwwwww that has made me feel queasy. He shouldn't really be near your baby when he is that bladdered.

Wheresmygalaxy · 20/11/2012 13:40

missy yep he wasnt drunk at all, just worded it wrong Smile

loveroflife · 20/11/2012 13:41

If DP isn't going to back you over this and laughs it off, I think it would be well worth sitting down with FIL explaining how uncomfortable this made you feel and how you expect this never ever to happen again.

RichardSimmonsTankTop · 20/11/2012 13:43

Ewww! That is really gross. I kiss my little DC's feet, but draw the line at licking.

missymoomoomee · 20/11/2012 13:43

I'm bad for wording things wrongly too, ooooh the trouble I've caused by a slip of the tongue every now and then :)

Did you word your description of your fil and your babys feet wrong too

That's gross, seriously gross!!

Strawhatpirate · 20/11/2012 13:48

That is one of the weirdest things I have ever heard.

TwoJackRussellsandababy · 20/11/2012 13:53

Bleurgh! Odd odd odd!

You or DP need to have a word

Wheresmygalaxy · 20/11/2012 13:54

I kiss them all the time too, but seeing someone else do it in just a sickly way was just ugghhhh...

Hes generally ok, as i said before he is really set in his ways, he wasnt there much for his own childrens upbringing, mostly in the pub, so i dont know it its something to do with boundaries that he just doesnt get. he still swears in front of his own children which i find odd but thats probably coming from my own family where we couldnt even say crap. He says things to ds like, say for example he has pooed, he will say have you had a cack Hmm as soon as i hear him saying things like that i tell him not to as he will get into the habit of doing it and 1 day ds will repeat it back to everyone.

i get a funny face in response and remind him he had his time to bring up his own children, now its our turn and we are not trying to raise some scally. Nothing against people who choose to let there children swear, i just dont want mine too.

God help him if i see him doing it again though, i may vomit over him to get the poit across.

so glad its not just me.

loveroflife · 20/11/2012 14:02

Are you going to say something to him though OP? He needs to understand your feelings over this....

honeytea · 20/11/2012 14:04

When my sister was a baby I would bite her little feet, not hard just pretend to eat them, she would giggle so much, that lovely baby giggle where they just can't stop. I also blew raspberries on her feet. I was 18 at the time and my mum was there at the same time and didn't seem to mind, maybe she thought it was strange, but then i think my mum would have told me if she didn't like it.

EasilyBored · 20/11/2012 14:07

Kissing, nibbling, blowing raspberries = all fine. Giving each toe a good slobbery lick = wrong wrong wrong. I feel a bit ill thinking about it.
