Bought a costume from a company who today slammed the phone down on me?ided a tracking number after I paid

I paid for a parcel to come for the next day delivery before 1pm they said if you order before 5.30pm it would be guaranteed,I ordered at 4.15pm.

The parcel did not turn up,it came the day after ,I refused and sent it back last thursday,I ring today it went like this.

My argument is I paid for a special delivery £7.95 to be with me before 1pm ,they did not have a tracking number the lady tells me there is not one and blames Royal Mail, she then tells me she uses a manifest?,so unable to track parcel?.

I have been ringing since last Monday chasing to see if they have had it back yet,they will not refund me till they get the parcel back.

I ring again today,to have the phone slammed down on me by the MD who said I should chase Royal Mail ,I said its there problem they have not provided a tracking number its there responsibility and they have lied to me .

After reading another review it says a lady did not get her money back after sending back her goods because of poor quality refused a refund,excuses were made etc .

I think they have scammed me and told them so hence why MD slammed the phone down when mentioning the police.

I have sent a email saying I will be contacting the police as I feel they have lied and taken my money,and alarm bells are starting to ring ,I am very tempted to write a very bad review ,I am so angry wwyd?.

Don't you think threatening them with the police was a little over the top? Telling them that they are scammers isn't the best way to get a refund, you need to calm down, call them back, apologise and ask about a refund as the item turned up late and wasn't needed so was returned.

You sound very rude. And you don't get your refund you need Trading Standards not the police.

I'm pretty confused here. So a parcel is with royal mail, you didn't send it back trackable and yet you're threatening the company with the police? Really?

Who is the company?! That is appalling. I don't know what to tell you to do though.

So you got your parcel, sent it back & are now complaining of being scammed?

You should have spoken to them before returning anything if there was a complaint. How are they to know why you are returning it? Now you have nothing to bargain with!

I don't know what you expect the police to do, to be honest.

Do you mean you told the postman that you weren't accepting the parcel? If so it will take ages for it to be returned to the company!

She refused the parcel so isn't it up to the courier/RM to return to sender? I have refused parcels before now (not for the same reason though) and they have got back to the sender with no problem.

So Royal Mail have lost the parcel you have tried to return?

Yes maybe I was very rude,but I have done nothing wrong but pay for a service that was not provided.

I am the one who has had to chase them everyday,although now I have had my refund for the special delivery.

Maybe I should not of threatened the police but I do not have a leg to stand on and they have my money.

They also let down my son and I had to go elsewhere to buy a costume so he would not go to school being the odd one out so forgive me if I was rude.

Rockchick yes your right ,I told the postman I was not excepting the parcel as told by the company to do this, which I did.

Op, I don't think you were unreasonable to send the item back, or to expect a refund for the item and the postage. It does sound as though you have been a bit hasty though.Mistakes do occasionally happen with postage and I doubt the company are pulling a fast one. It is not unreasonable for them to wait for the item before providing a full refund.
Did you catch the name of the postage company? If it was Royal Mail then a 'return to sender' scenario with no postage paid like yours is likely to take a few days. How did you pay for the item?

Don't worry. Take a few minutes, calm down, then call them back and ask about a refund. If it doesn't go to plan, keep calm and call consumer direct (used to be called Trading Standards).

It will take ages to get back to the company if you just refused it at the door I'm afraid. Essentially it's been returned without paying any postage or putting it through the proper returns process - could be weeks before it makes it back. And the company is right not to refund until they have received the goods I'm afraid.

They still have not had the parcel it went back last Thursday,its taking ages.

She said she put the phone down on me as I have been on her case everyday and she does not appreciate being threatened by the police, what should I do now?.

You've been on her case every day... so not just one complaint then, a daily complaint? She's refunded the delivery charge and will refund the rest when the refused parcel is returned. That actually sounds as though the company are being quite reasonable about this. Neither the police (!) nor trading standards are going to give you much support with that one.

I'd initially contact the Royal Mail sorting office in case they are following their full procedure for non delivery here but if they have simply returned to sender it will take a while eg probably minimum of a week.

Have you really been phoning her every day? Don't you think that's a bit excessive?

Also, when the postie tried to deliver the parcel, was it sent special delivery? If so the company weren't at fault initially, royal mail were.

From what I can remember dealing with Royal Mail for special delivery that has been refused on delivery, it can take upto 6 weeks for it to arrive. I think it has to go via a returns centre in Belfast.

Why on earth did you send it back? I would have just rung up and asked for a refund on the delivery. Then I would have had my parcel, and wouldn't have shelled out extra for the delivery that didn't happen when it should have done.

You sound as if you are over-reacting to this in a big way. Why would the police be interested in your missing parcel?

I think you're getting way too emotional about this - they let your son down?!
Perhaps you let him down sorting it out at the last minute?! (although, I know there could be plenty of reasons for that)
Sounds like you were being very high maintenance and I can see why the MD hung up, though she should have said "I am hanging up because of threatening behaviour" rather than 'slamming' the phone down.

Why did you refuse delivery rather than just ask for a refund of the postage? Seems a bit of a drastic measure to be honest. Now you are at the mercy of Royal Mail. Did you get proof of postage when you returned the parcel?

YABU. No reputable company will refund an item until the returned item has been received by then. The fact that they refunded your delivery even before they've received the returned item suggests they are reputable. I think you handled this badly.
