I already have an Edward. I really really want a Bella, Alice or Jasper (I am pg with dc2 by the way!). But the Twilight comments were bad enough first time around, I can't bear the thought of them this time if I have TWO Twilight names! Why couldn't the stupid woman call her vampires Barry, Dennis and Barbara?!

One of mine has one of those names and p no one has ever made a twighlight connection...

YANBU. I have thought the same on occasionally. Edward and Jacob may once have been a perfectly lovely pair of siblings,now? The parents would get judged.

I don't think the names on their own are tainted it's when you put them together it screams Twilight.

Same with Harry Potter. Harry? Fine. Hermione? Beautiful. Harry AND Hermione together? No. Just no.

I also cannot believe that given all the KINGS named Edward there have been Twilight is the average persons point of reference

I know! I didn't even think about Twilight when we named ds (Edward is a family name, plus we just liked it) but when I told people his name it was such a common question - "oh, as in Twilight?" Er, no, as in a very traditional centuries-old name, actually...

Its shit. When i was pg with out second i really like Isabella, but wouldn't because of twilight. And its turned out to be a boy.

My friends surname is one of the characters names, she called her son Jacob so he had twilight names for a first and surname. But she had never read it and was really annoyed when she found out.

My son has 2 names related to true blood and i get asked if i named him after that programme.
I didn't realise until after.

Worra Hermione was the daughter of Menelaus and Helen of Troy on Greek mythology and she was the wife in Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale, J.K.Rowling didn't invent the name.

How about Allegra. I was watching Hannibal the other night and one of the smaller characters in that was called this.

DD has the same name as a major character from a very popular sci-fi show. I had some comments about it, 'oh you must be fans of ... '. Well yeah, we like it but DD isn't named after it as we chose the name years ago before the character even existed (before DD was even conceived FFS). Thankfully the majority of comments have been lovely compliments on her name.

Twilight makes me stabby in general. I've read it and it's time I will never get back, I won't even go into what I think of it but agree that it's ruined so many lovely names.

It's pronounced a bit like Bryony - the first syllable is really soft; the accent is on the 2nd syllable. Her-MY-on-ee...

My DS has a name that is used in Buffy the vampire slayer. That wasn't why we chose the name, it jumped out at us from a baby name book.
I'm pregnant with DC2, I LOVE the name Caleb, but it's also a character in Buffy so we just can't. As it happens I think Josh Whedon is a creative genius, but it is annoying me that I love the same names as him!

I have an Alice and have never bad Twilight mentioned to me. I am a bit concerned that it might gain more popularity after the last film. but surely the people who are going to use the names only because of Twilight won't be having kids for another few years. Or am I out of touch with modern Britain?!

I have a Bella (named before I even knew what twilight was) and having another dd I love the name Rosalie not even realising it was a twilight character before my hairdresser told me. So annoying!

OP I quite agree, we took Edward off of our short list because of the current Twilight connection! (don't think DS would have been Edward anyway he completely looks like his name but still v annoying)

DS2 has the same name as a twilight character. I have literally never had a comment on it. But maybe because his name is usually paired with DS1's, so it doesn't ring the twilight bell in people's heads.
