and/or use textspeak/hun/lil' man/b**tch etc and no paragraphs and no discernible grammar?

OR

am I a terrible old curmudgeon and change is inevitable and in the end the huns will take over the asylum?

Andi, this is usually a hug.

((Andi))

I think a quick "x" on a comfort/advice thread is perfectly ok though.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 04/11/2012 20:52

The DailyWail

I am hugely repressed in RL and deplore the whole 2 kisses thing (they are up to 4 now in my ILs village in France - working their way up to 6 next time we go )

Bogeyface · 04/11/2012 20:55

Can I just clarify, I think it is perfectly ok to give a hug or a x to someone on here who needs it, and have even been known to do so myself on occasion Shock.

I just mean routine signing-off:

Any1 no ware 2get gr8 bubbagros lol?

x

Doctrine, of course, that's a good way to do a virtual hug. And I'm all warm and fuzzy from it now.

As much as I dislike virtual kissy kissy Xs, I actually am quite physically affectionate in real life and will kiss anyone and everyone short of every day at the school gate.

When people say 'bubba' I think of a big scary redneck in a vest. Which is often disconcerting.

ginhag · 04/11/2012 21:25

That was pretty close bogey. Tho in all honesty my vision is infinitely more terrifying.

I was going to put a comedy link here but Google lead me to a freaky tumblr site... I'm just off to bleach my eyes.

ginhag · 04/11/2012 21:26

Hahaha that is 1 cute bubba u haz got bogey.

TheDailyWail · 04/11/2012 21:39

UsualSuspect - I disagree. I went on to Money Saving Expert Forum and asked a question and 3 people called me a troll. I've never been called a troll before. I wish it was for something more outlandish but I was asking about a Telephone conversation with a bank.

Marne · 04/11/2012 21:44

OP, you must have a very boring life if you have time to worry about things like this Grin.

Chill out hun x

MurderOfGoths · 04/11/2012 21:45

Usual I can't really agree as it varies person to person what makes them feel welcome. I've been on forums that are much less welcoming, and not necessarily because they were hostile places. Some have been all love and light and yet you could still feel like you were intruding.

MN can't be that unwelcoming given how there always seems to be someone new posting.

Possibly, on the other hand it also encourages other lurkers (those who hate text speak etc)
